"My avatar is very bold" - Ankita Sharma

Sharma who was last seen in Life OK's Amrit Manthan, will soon enter Colors TV's Rangrasiya. TellyTimes.comget in touch with Ankita, about her role, character and the experience working on the show.

You will soon be seen entering Rangrasiya on Colors TV, tell a bit about your role?

I am playing the parallel lead, who will be negative ahead in the show. But eventually she is a dancer who loves Rudra (Ashish Sharma), and the only girl in Rudra's life. Rudra hates girls, but Laila is the only girl in his life and she believe she is the only one in Rudra's life as well.

How different is this role from all the other roles played so far?

This is very different, as so far I have only done positive roles, this is my first negative or grey shade role. This is very challenging for me, as you can play much more with your character when doing a negative role, then positive.

Will viewers get to see you in a different avatar in this show?

My avatar is very bold. So far I have only played a shy and silent kind of roles.

What has been the most challenging while shooting your scenes?

I have shot two scenes so far. It is very challenging, as the girl is a dancer who loves Rudra, so there are gonna be some intimate scenes between Laila and Rudra. I didn't have much difficulty while shooting those scenes, as Ashish was very supportive.

Have you shot any scenes with Ashish or Sanaya, and how has that been?

I haven't shot with Sanaya yet, but I did shoot with Ashish. I have earlier worked with Ashish, in my first movie "Alah Udhal", so it was a bit easier.

You were said to have signed a movie as well?

I haven't signed, but thinks are in talk, and hopefully soon things will be finalized.

Saurabh Tewari, the man who has managed to touch viewers' hearts with his magnificent show Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon on Colors is back with another show on the same channel, Rangrasiya. Saurabh who owns the production house Nautanki Telefilms earlier was at the helm of NDTV Imagine and Colors.

Ashish Sharma, the lead in Rangrasiya is treading the path of Shakespeare's Othello. When asked what made him touch the great writer's characters, he averred, "His plays and characters have a bigger canvas and are complex, thus can come out in a very interesting way if projected well. Our show that is based in the beautiful and vast deserts of Rajasthan needed something of the same standards."

And what about having a filmy touch to all his shows, we asked him next. "I believe that TV is no less than films and hence it should be visually grand. Also today you can manage to get your scenes done on any scale you want. There is a lot to experiment and our production house will always continue with this standard or actually get better."

RR : "Othello" of Small Screen - HT {wid Eng trans.}

English Translation :

Saurabh Tiwari and Siddharth Shukla of Nautanki Films, have come up with "Rangrasiya". An adaption of Shakespeare's Othello, "Rangrasiya" has a Rajasthani backdrop. This show will tell us how amidst all the hatred, betrayal, lies and destruction, blossoms love.

The story of "Rangrasiya" revolves around Paro (Sanaya Irani), a simple village belle, residing in Birpur that borders the neighboring country and Border Security Dal (BSD) officer, Rudra (Ashish Sharma). Paro and Rudra both have been brought up in completely different conditions and circumstances.

Love for Paro is hope, while for Rudra it is hatred. For him, love depends on his needs, beauty is betrayal. His aim in life is to get his work done. The reason for this is his past, where, at the age of 12, he saw his beautiful mother desert his father, a not so handsome man, for someone better looking.

Since then, his father has imbedded the feeling of hatred in him and so, love has no place in his life. He hates every beautiful woman, as all he knows is that his beautiful mother had deserted his father, for fulfilling her desires, for her happiness only.

As he grows up, Rudra joins the BSD and he is commissioned to Birpur, where he has to investigate the case of arms and ammunition's smuggling. Around this time, the village is geared up for Paro's wedding. And it is at the wedding altar, that Rudra kills Paro's husband.

Where this incident shatters Paro's life, Rudra's hatred for pretty women is triggered as he sees the beautiful Paro. He wants to kill Paro too.

But this hatred soon paves way for love, when he sees the grit and determination with which Paro stands in front of him. He falls in love with Paro, but by now, Paro has started hating Rudra. The story then takes a different turn at this point.

Sanaya (Irani) is a very nice and beautiful girl and also a thorough professional: Ashish Sharma

29 Dec 2013 05:10 AM | TellychakkarTeam

The good looking and rusty Ashish Sharma is back with another role of an angry young man in Nautanki Telefilm'sRangrasiya on Colors.

The actor will be playing Rudra, a BSF officer who is true to his country and has no touchy feelings whatsoever.

Tellychakkar.com caught up with Ashish at the press launch of his show at Jaipur recently where the actor spoke at length about his new show. Excerpts...

"Well, I was given the brief that my character would have shades of Othello and the intensity it has. Having read Shakespeare, I knew the complexity and was well prepared to portray something similar; he is like a volcano, ready to erupt any moment and being in the armed force is his way of venting out his grudges. And due to some past events, he hates good looking women and when his life collides with this pretty Paro (Sanaya Irani), how things change is for the viewers to see," shared Ashish.

"It's disastrous for an actor to portray similar roles and thankfully I got a chance to play varied shades in all my shows. I also make it a point to have a different look for all my roles. For a TV actor, the character becomes his/ her identity and I don't want to repeat myself."

When asked if he doesn't feel being typecast playing another grey shaded character after Rab Se Sohna Ishq in this show, the good looking actor shares, "See, every human being has his/her shortcomings and my character has never been an out-and-out negative one but has been slightly grey due to some situations. Through this industry, we sell dreams and to project characters convincingly is an actor's job."

"And all the shows on TV where actors are playing goody characters have hardly any meat. I would rather sleep at home in peace rather than be furniture on such shows. Also my producer Saurabh Tewari tells me that I bring out a special intensity on screen. Incidentally, this is missing in my real life personality of the soft spoken guy. So I actually enjoy doing such roles since there is so much scope to perform in them," the actor quips.

Ashish will also be seen doing a lot of stunts and action sequences in the show. Speaking on that, the usual reserved guy smilingly says, "Being a guy, I always had the fascination with guns and action and getting to play it in such a larger than life way, it's simply a superb experience. Also shooting in my hometown in the sun and sand has been fantastic."

And what about working with the team? "Well this is the third time I am working with Saurabhji and it has been one fruitful journey. As for Sanaya, she is a very nice and beautiful girl and thoroughly professional. I didn't know her before we started shooting, but she broke the ice; she is such a bubbly person on the sets that makes everyone comfortable. So yes, it's a great feeling indeed," he concludes with a smile.

Colors launched two of its most awaited shows Beintehaa' and Rangrasiya'

With the stunning, yet apt ending of the coveted reality show Bigg Boss season 7, Colors launched two of its most awaited shows in the prime time slot of 9-10 p.m. yesterday.

Beintehaa' and Rangrasiya' had shown a lot of potential and promise with their hatke' concepts and fresh lead pairing. Yesterday, the channel marked the debut of both these shows.

Colors New Show

While Beintehaa' is all set to showcase its larger than life drama on Colors at 9-9.30 slot, Rangrasiya' will mesmerize and charm with deserts and barren lands of Rann of Kutch and Birpur, Rajasthan, in the following time slot of 9.30-10 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile, Rangrasiya' debuted with much more realistic feel and raw charm. With the introductory scene of a bus full of innocent villagers, including the female lead protagonist's parents, being gunned down by Bharat Suraksha Dal BSD and the traumatic impact on Paro, the show jabs a strong plot between the love and hate equation of the border denizens and BSD.

Showcasing a parallel world of Rudra, bereft of a mother, who has eloped with someone else, leaving him a life with a handicapped father and bitterness, the male lead Rudra's personality is also brought out as well crafted. After all, this would be the child, who will have strong reasons to shun every emotion associated with love.

Although, the sheer coincidental childhood meeting of Rudra and Paro looked a little clich, their young chemistry, looks very refreshing and dynamic compared to the pairing in Beintehaa'.

Paro aka Sanaya Irani looks stunning and so does Ashish Sharma as the BSF officer. He is dynamic and oozes raw sex appeal with his ruthlessness. The very idea of seeing a dashing handsome hunk, devoid of emotions, falling in love with an all-about-love Paro, is what will keep the audience glued to the screens in this time slot.

Colors channel has given us a lot of good love stories in the past, by way of several charismatic lead pairs and storylines. Let's just hope, the two shows leave a long lasting effect with their own style and stories. Stay tuned to learn about the love equations unfolding in the coming episodes and decide which one is your cup of tea.
