Part 2A

Shaan's office 2 days later

"Mr. Mehta, did we find an interior designer yet for the set?" Shaan asked Mr. Mehta, his assistant while looking at the files in his hand.

When Mr. Mehta didn't answer, he looked up, "Mr. Mehta have we found someone yet? No? How about the event planner, Ms. Sonalika?"

Shaan closed the file he was reading in his hand and place it back on the table, leaned forward and folded his hands, looked around the table and smiled. His staff looked scared. They knew that this is one of those times when Shaan's silent smile means a volcano is getting ready to erupt if nothing is taken care of soon.

"That's fine. We have two days left till our clients get here. So I need that done by tonight. I hope that is enough time for everyone," Shaan smiled and addressed his staff sweetly.

Everyone around the table gave him a silent nod indicating that they understood his order along with his "sweet-warning," as many called it. This was one of those times where they knew how serious he gets when he tells everyone to get the job done in the most polite way because his politeness is another form of anger about to erupt soon.

Shaan's Cabin

As he paced his cabin, trying to control his anger, he couldn't figure out how to find an event planner and an interior designer in short period of time. He was angry that his staff still hasn't been able to find someone.

This was Shaan's very first project. It's not that he has never done projects before for his company but this was the first time he was in-charge of one without his dad's help. He wanted everything to go perfect and on time. He wanted to keep his company's name the honor it has build for itself. He wanted his dad to keep the honor he has spent time on to build.

This was a very special project for Shaan. The clients he was working with wanted a set design that will specifically fit their character's situation. Shaan's company was the number one company in Mumbai and in this field. His company worked with many singers and directors. Whenever someone needed to create a specific set for their production, they contacted his company. This was their main production but his company also did other projects and did other side business too.

But for now Shaan was worried about his project with his clients. He needed to find a new set-designer and a new event planner. The ones he has are busy with other projects so hence he needs a new one, especially someone who can specifically understand the project and work on it.

Khanak's Shop

"Khanak, how is the painting for Libby coming along? You know she called again inquiring about it. I swear I have never seen a person so impatient about her own portrait. I mean if she wants something done so quick, why can't she just have a photograph taken and frame it? Why this much trouble?" Ruby went on and on about her complains.

Khanak just shook her head and kept painting, "At least she is honest and still appreciates painted portrait of self than most people these days. Beside Ruby we need business so why deny anyone of their joy. Not to mention I love to paint. It gives me great joy."

"woh toh theke hai Khanak lekin hum aur bhi toh kaam karte hain. I mean we run perfectly good shop here that runs mainly on interior designing and event planning so why painting? I mean in today's world, paintings are soo old-stlye," Ruby spoke as if she was disgusted by it.

"Ruby, we've had this conversation million times and still you bring it up. Yaar kabhi toh meri paintings ka peecha chod do," Khanak casually remarked Ruby.

Ruby: "Main tumhari paintings ka peecha tab chodungi ja'"

Khanak cuts in, "Jab koi ladka meri paintings ko khareedega aur woh bhi iss zamane wala. I know I know, you want a guy who is not a painting type to buy my paintings just to show that paintings are still appreciated it. The only flaw in that logic is, my dear," Khanak went up to Ruby and put her head on her shoulder, "that that guy would have to be in love with me in order to like my paintings and I doubt that will happen any time soon. Beside there are so many people who love paintings and that too mine'.I just haven't met them yet."

"wohi toh Khanak. You haven't met them yet. Beside what is wrong with a guy who loves your paintings for you. And I'm telling you Khanak, that guy is not far away."

Khanak gave up on her friend and went back to her painting and Ruby went back to her work of looking up orders.

While checking orders, she came across one order that was needed to be delivered today at 12 pm at K Company.

"Oh Shit! Khanak!" yelled Ruby hitting her head with her palm.

"Kya hua?" Khanak was so startled that she hit paint on her face in the process. She left everything there and ran to her friend to see if she was ok, "Kya hua, Ruby? Are you ok?"

"Khanak we needed to deliver the CP order to the K Company by 12 today."

Khanak looked at Ruby, rolled her eyes and started to go back to her work till Ruby stopped her, "We have an hour to deliver it and you know we only own bike and you know about the Mumbai traffic."

Khanak's almond shaped eyes popped out. She realized the blunder now. If there was something her shop was good at then it was timing and management. They were good on everything but timing was something they were known for and well her shop's reputation was in jeopardy.

K Company's outside

Thank God I have reached here in time. Thank You God for no traffic today, warna main toh gayee kaam se. Khanak thought to herself.

She parked her cycle and then rushed in the building without a care. She quick-stepped to the main entrance of the building. As she climbed the stairs, she bumped into someone and without facing the man; she apologized and rushed inside to the secretary.

Shaan's building lobby

Shaan was in deep thoughts that he wasn't really looking where he was going. He took the elevator down and nodded his head to his secretary before stepping out to stairs. He wasn't sure where he was going to go but he needed to step out.

He didn't see who he bumped into but he heard a familiar voice, the same voice that he heard two days earlier. He quickly turned around to catch only the back of retreating girl in yellow sun dress with open black hair covering her back. He saw her approach his secretary and asking her something and then heading to the elevator.

Without knowing what he was doing, Shaan started to follow the girl. He tried to catch upto her but the elevator beat it to him.

As he watched the elevator ascend, he was hoping to know where she made the stop but he couldn't say where because the elevator was stopping at every floor. His only hope was to climb the elevator and wait out the whole time before running into her again.
