Its really hilarious to see almost all Indian Television or Cinema celebrities declare "I dont watch ANY Indian TV! I dont watch ANY Indian movies, I only watch ER, 30 Rock blah blah blah"

They gain their popularity, fame, money, fan following, papparzzi the WORKS, ONLY by acting in INDIAN TELEVISION SOAPS! 🤣

But they want NOTHING to do with it once the peak is attained!

Speaking of the proverb.... "cutting off the hand that feeds you"

Its disappointing to see Karan Tacker say that! (I dont know WHY I expected better from him 😕)

Gauri Tejwani/Pradhan is another "star" TV personality, made popular solely by a desi soap, recently declared that in an interview "I dont watch any Indian shows".🤣

My thoughts were.............. "Dont worry Gauri, nobody prolly even remembers you, let alone worry about why you dont watch Desi TV".

Thank God for short lived audience attention span

If only these TV star wannabe Bollywood superstars ever knew how much of American TV/Cinema is equally pathetic! 🤣

Wish some one would tell them, such statements only make it seem like they are desperate Hollywood wannabes (read sophisticates)

Dude...M not defending anyone....But still....this is what I think !!

Most of them dont watch TV at all coz they dont have time...

And m sure that acting in daily soaps the entire time they'd get sick of all this drama....Coz they know the behind the set story of actors....

Also the main point is continuation......U know how indian shows are.....One day the lead girl is married to a man....next day she is married to her brother....So if these people watch a show one day and then watch the show 10 days later....they'd have to guess what happened...

But FRIENDS is a classic.....and they dont have episodes in continuation....nor does "How I met Your Mother.."....These are like One-shots with the same cast in different circumstances...No continuity issues....

He did say....I dont watch much of TV....Not just Indian Shows.....Almost EVERYONE has a Collection of FRIENDS episodes on their laptops....And HIMYM is playing its season 3 on TV now...!

He did say he watches Big Boss.....!

If I was that pressed for time....Then I certainly wudnt be watching any shows which go on in continuity....One of my favorite shows was Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai....they have the episodic format.

And trust me.......Not only actors but ANYONE and EVERYONE considers it UNCOOL to watch TV shows...ROFL !! So cant really blame just the actors....

As about Gauri....she behaves really snooty...dunno y !! She should learn from her husband...that guy seems to be really chilled out !

To me the sheer fact that he makes all his moolah through a moderately popular (acc to the 100th show gala, voice over guy) INDIAN TV show, I expected a different answer

In the words of his screen Mom Madhavi, Big Boss must be the most "down market" show on Indian TV.

NOW I am even more disappointed by his choice.👎🏼

Its not at all cool or sophisticated.

IF watching INDIAN TV was NOT a desirable thing, we wouldnt have this Forum.

I dont think I have to say anything more on that, as it would be super disrespectful to the millions of members

I was purely disappointed at the sheer immaturity of some actors desperately trying to create a very "cool" image for themselves

He would be so much more endearing AND COOL if he had said "I WATCH MY SHOW!"

Friends "might" be a classic, but there were episodes which were absolutely ridiculous to say the least. Almost all of them ended up bedding everyone else, the directors spared us of showing the unthinkable between Monica and Ross.🤢

The humor may have been good in parts but there were many things undesirable asin it as well.

Most people that dont live in this country dont have a clue about the American mainstream opinion about Hollywood and the TV shows.

Its just that when people live in India, MOSTLY celebrities their only attempt to appear cool is by bashing the industry that employs them

Long time back, I had read a TV celebrity interview where he said that he never watches TV at all...I found it actually funny --- not because it was employing him ( we cannot force a baker to have his own cake) but I laughed because if he doesn't watch TV...why does he expect others to do so??..why should someone listen to him when he is asking them to watch a show that he himself doesn't watch 😕....beyond comprehension for me.

Ifeel it is impossible not to watch TV at all.....so whoever says he doesn't watch TV....is simply trying to APPEAR COOL.......there is something for everyone at TV- news, talk shows, debates, cricket matches, reality TV, there are women in the house who watch soaps and other comedies.......so not watching TV is impossible......I have read how Gauri Khan spotted amrita rao in bru coffee commercial, K jo telling how his mom watches saas-bahu serials, actresses like renuka shahane , pallavi joshi, rupali ganguli saying they watch TV regularly.....i think even they appear cool and true....KT did not say he doesn't watch it at all........
Now , when I think about it....I think when they say they don't watch TV --- means they don't watch anything in particular or specific....they might be channel surfing if at all they switch it on....as that was what I used to do before RBO....!!....and the main issue is continuity....!!
Another very important point is --- we have every right to exercise a choice when it comes to entertainment......especially when we are busy and pressed for time, still want something to unwind, we have less time so less shows to experiment, we can watch only 1 or 2.....here we should not judge someone by his choice...............
My hubby is a very busy senior government engineer, he did his studies at IIT so his IQ is not questionable at all....still I can not understand that the only one show he watches is Big Boss.....for which I nag him every single day......lovingly of course....that how can he watch a show as silly and stupid as BBoss ( strictly my POV.....not to appear sophisticated, but I do find the show ridiculous) .......and he almost daily Tchs Tchs me for RBO........and both of us are like --- "still my show is better than yours....".
If we go on serial bashing....there is no end....If FRIENDS has flaws, Big Boss is insane .......even RBO has some flaws, we can't see due to our love but others can.........I have a close friend who is a cardiologist and she started watching PKYEK......and she is hooked to it just because she can watch it at 11.00 pm repeat and she loves a character Misha........and that is the only show she watches....told me to watch it too......................so let's not decide someone's intelligence by his choice of show because there could be many reasons making him watch the show and later it becomes a habit...........

It's a long post -- summary for those who don't want to read the above crap--- to say that we don't watch TV at all is considered cool but makes you appear a fool........KT did not say so....he just quoted his choices.....which we should respect.....each to his own !!!

Most of my American friends hate what American TV has to offer. They all have Netflix memberships and I frequently fb desi movie names to them.

Their unanimous opinion about indian cinema is "Its how Hollywood USED TO BE in 1950s and 60s before the freak show took over. Now all our directors and story writers can think of is how to show maximum skin, gore and s--. You movies are clean, fun, endearing, and the stories are simplistic and the romance is breathtakingly beautiful"

Our TV is similar to our movies in my opinion, may be a lil better in the sense that there is no violence or s--

I am not ashamed to watch Indian television

Saying dumb things like "only Hollywood is better" makes me look like a fool

That post was keeping in mind every single TV actor...

Well yeah....I kinda agree....He cudve atleast said I watch my show....!

But you see any TV actor/Film Actor....their replies to these questions are the same....

Earlier only FRIENDS used to feature on their fav shows....Nowadays "HIMYM" is a new addition....!!

So I am talking from that perspective....!!

I dooo adore KT.....But till now....Its more for his character of Shaan....i do not know him as a person to defend him...

So there, I'll clarify that to you...!

Me also feel this is a sort of fashion statement for some of them to say theydont watch any Indian soaps..

It was just a show yaar....! And I wont take that about FRIENDS....Atleast it was and continues to be much better than the other trash dolled out on any TV nowadays....😕

M surprised....I have never seen anyone sooo against FRIENDS as you 😕😕

If we are debating about Indian TV/Movies vs Amreekan TV/Movies.. well that is for the Debate Mansion.😳.. If you open a topic of debate there.. i will put my two cents in..as i am a working and taxpaying American citizen.

As far as what KT said.... these actors don't have the time to watch Indian TV and to get out of the rutt.. may be watch American TV shows.. what is wrong. Yes i agree they need to acknowledge Indian TV too.. but BW celebrities alike do the same.. drop names of American shows.
