Normally, I avoid posting in the star one show forums to preserve my sanity but I will post my views on RBO because this is Caro's thread and she has kind of spoke my mind on this. I will make an elaborate post later , hopefully my not so positive opinions about this show will not be percieved as offending the fans.
Hi ya TVR, how are you?

Just logged in and who do I see? Kavya! Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Nice to c u dear... how have u been?

As for your views abt RBO, am sure your critique will be taken in good spirit. It's a sportive group out here, frm my experience....

Personally, I don't mind negative comments, but not rude or biased ones... any creative work should invite both positive and negative comments na, so it shld be alright...

Can't wait to hear what u have to say,...

Have a busy day here so will be in and out... but do write!

@Tvr/Shriya: I can guess which "other" show this show was compared to , if anything my opinion of that show is worse - that show is true example of star one's customary "hawt" stuff which I cannot stand.

@Tvr: Nice to meet you again *hugs* how are you doing?

About RBO -

Well, my first issue with this show is it shows no sensitivity and I think Shantanu is definitely a very weak written character. Let's trace his journey - he was crazily in love with Natasha, almost ready to marry her, then he goes to Dhulwadi and ends up accidentally killing a man , ruining a girl's life forever and TILL DATE I've never seen him regret once whole heartedly - now I won't call Shantanu a cold blooded murderer or anything, I understand it happened by accident but never once did I see him feel guilty (please don't tell me that on the night of "Kuch Khaas Hai" sequence he apologized to her and meant it sincerely 'coz that is not even an iota of what he should've ACTUALLY felt), as if that is not enough he slighted Khanak quite a lot in the beginning especially when he OWED her his life and also had the onus on him to make it up to her and take care of her because HE was responsible for the situation she or rather they are in. When I say Shantanu should feel guilty, I don't intend to say that he has to suffer and sit with a sad face all the time but I would definitely complain that Suraj's death has been treated in the most insensitive manner and Shantanu washed his hands off very coolly, like he was never responsible for ruining Khanak's life or causing a family distress - I REFUSE the defense that might say that that is how his character is , no - no matter how immature, how irresponsible, how much of an escapist he is supposed to be or have been , it cannot account for not having basic human sensitivity i.e., a feeling for the fellow human being and more so, when you are somehow the reason for their suffering. Personally, I would never acquit Shantanu of his guilt. Secondly, Natasha- what better example does one need for Shantanu's weak character, he always depended on her , never once did he think of what SHE might be feeling , what she might be wanting, it was always himself , it was always his convenience- I pity poor Natasha for loving him so hopelessly, here I would take Natasha's dad's side- had I been in his place and had she been my daughter, I would have been against their relationship too , Shantanu never really loved Natasha, he only enjoyed being pampered by her and taking full advantage of her love. Natasha was the only person who gave 100% to the relationship - she always took the entire burden of the relationship on herself and what does she get in return? Shantanu taking her for granted and expecting more and more and more out of her? The one time she sulks and goes away from him, what does he do? Cuddle up with his wife who, btw, becomes his wife or his friend or pain in his neck as per his convenience. Okay then Natasha and Khanak both left the house and he went to bring back Khanak for business reasons and all instead of going to Natasha, fine but then he suddenly starts imagining stuff seeing her in the rain? He does not remember Natasha even for a moment as he was busy drooling over Khanak, suddenly trying to win her respect and what not - there was no proper flow, no clear explanation, as to what lead to the events as they are now. That whole JWM inspired trip of Shantanu-Khanak made me feel "so if tomorrow after Khanak begins to love him back and they get together and Khanak goes to Dhulwadi for a few days leaving Shantanu alone he will go to Natasha again?" because that is exactly what he did with Khanak when Natasha left him or at least that is how it was presented.

Let us come to Khanak now- I don't understand why she fought for justice and did all that drama in Dhulwadi - what purpose did all that serve? I don't see the point of her fighting for justice blah blah if I look at where she is now - also it is amusing me to see how easily she forgave Shantanu, the man whom she hated so much and could not forgive until a month ago- over night she is all pally, cosy with him 😕- I thought that Khanak at least would take time to get over Suraj and bring herself to a position where she is ready to forgive Shantanu with an EFFORT from his end and then gradually love would happen, I mean that is not even expecting something great, it is just the minimum which anyone would expect I think (again I will clarify that by Khanak taking time to forget Suraj, I don't mean her crying over her fate). Yet I was kind of happy that this show until recently did not take the regular star one route of incessant eye locks where I keep wondering what if dust falls into somebody's eyes or if the other's eyes begin to burn or what if suddenly one feels like poking into the other's eye etc., trip catch sequences where I think what if there is a little mistiming and she lands up on the ground breaking her back and stuff, cornering against the wall , staring at lips and all the usual crap that comes with the regular star one package but obviously all that bit the dust the moment I saw the Saawariya promo which scarred my eyes - KT may have a good body and stuff but he seriously looked VERY awkward in the entire sequence, IMO he just could NOT pull off the towel act - period ! He made me cringe just watching the promo.

@ Kavya
You have some fair points there... sorry... am very tired and not at my full potential right now, so my response will be brief. excuse me for that.... Am coming to India on sunday and million things to do before that...

Anyway, to come back to your critique, I think the story is interestingly poised... you have lots of questions which many of us have... and we keep discussing it in the DD thread. Even ystrday/this morning, Sidra and I were discussing abt how Shaan did not wonder why Khanak changed her mind abt leaving his house... but it looks like the CVs have intentionally left holes in many places because they will be filled as the story progresses....

My gut feeling abt Shaan is not that of a weakly written character, but a character just beginning to come into his own, slowly... we need to see a lot more before we can conclude one way or another.

Same goes for Khanak- she has made a deal with Shaan, just before the wedding. We only know one, of Shaan paying 20 lakhs to her in-laws. We do not know the other one.

Natasha, same story... there is a lot to go in the story, as far as I can see....

Plus, I may be wrong, but I do wonder if the CVs are going very careful abt Suraj and Khanak's memory of him etc.. because from what little I have read (studies done on cinema), a widow getting married again seems to be a touchy topic to sell to the audience... even though many many communities practice it in India, it is generally assumed to be rare and even taboo... so film makers at least from what I know are very careful about how they portray that. It is quite possible that similar reaction happens to television characters too... (even though TV heroines seem to marry and divorce way more than film heroines, LOL)....

Am not saying u r wrong, but am saying the answers to your questions cannot be given with the amount of info we have, from the story, at this point.

Caro di *hug*

Well,i wont say i agree or i dis-agree i just wanna say ..
Did d makers ever did what dey promised😳😆Nahin na.. so No comments abt Women power n its story..Coz as a viewer,Honestly i would not have like it to see another mahan Tulsi or Parvati maiya's on dis youthfull channel *Jo kuch zyada hi youthfull hai*Star one..
More dan dat, after dealing wid everyday's busy life,i want some laughing session (Nice n sensible 1 though) while watching Tv,wont like to kichofy my hair n all😒

Abt RBO ..WEll 1sf of all i think d maker did justice to Shaan's charecter..Dey choosed d right actor 4d role 1st n den written d charecter well..yeah i do agree his charecter has some flaws Like how he feels 4Khanak now but still does what Khanak says him to do wid Natasha (I.e-Todays epi) den again it made sense somehow,as he was uncomfortable doing d things..:)

Karan.T is a very much decent actor,or should i say nice actor,Who doesn't let down his viewers..He has a cute face,Nice expressions..n a gud body as well ..um..umm. umm.. im not really a body lover🤣I mean yeah guyz need to have a gud body but 4TV actors,i dont think dey need to show off..But again,D writters who writes d scene not d actors😕so cant really blame d actors..:)

On a lighter note..4me RBO is going gud wid a script ..Dont know its strong or not but it has a script, unlike many other show which follows viewers demand after a point n 4got wid what dey started d show LOL..

Abt Sawariya seq-again not such scene lover man🤣🤣but 'll see how KT manage to do it (decently)

Edit : Oh !I didn't notice some serious discussion going on😕😲

honestly the questions raised are very fair. and yes alot of things seem out of the ordinary....
but honestly if we really wanted to watch real life why would we watch tv....the shows on indian television are just so unrealistic many times espcially those saas bahu type shows with the evil mother in law or the evil sister in law or the evil step-siblings....i mean really....and the plan to take over the money...yadi yadi yada....
i actually only watch star one shows as most do not contain crap like that....and yes they have their own stuff which doesn't make sense and you wonder sometimes "huh" as in how does that even make sense but you keep watching for your amusement...
yes shantanu owed khanak his life and he forgot that...yes he should've felt guilty for being responsible for killing someone even though by accident...yes he should take care of khanak and his overnight transformation from natasha to khanak.....that all needs work
however, really if they make the shows all serious and close to reality and take out the romance from it...the eye locks and the falls and those shy poses then the show will become boring then who'll watch it....
i'm sure all the popular shows have some type of love story that begins on a cheesy note...and i'm sure all the shows that are youth based prob have some love story in that too....
i had started to watch a star plus show tere liye but maaan...it got sooo boring as they stretched the story with too much drama....since we youngsters wanna see fun loving show...i guess thts what they tried to provide...

Sure... too much of anything is a bore- whether it is 'reality' or 'love' M & B style.... I believe it is possible to entertain while at the same time not make the audience doubt their own sanity... may be our TV industry is still figuring its way out...

RBO is my first Star One show and I do hope it doesn't contain any of the saas-bahu evilness you mentioned. But I would also not be able to watch eye locks lasting for ever... I don't mind all of Star One shows being love stories. But we Indians are very much capable of telling good love stories on the big screen, so why not on the small one? Hope that happens soon.

It all depends on how u define a powerful female character...
If you say a girl with a humor sense and who dont deliver 100000 miles dialogs in one shot or who dont slap all the male characters 100 times but handle evry situation with pride and poise mere "comical" ....cant help it!!!
