Jai Sri Ram

Sita is talking to Valmiki.
Sita - Pranam gurudev. I suspected my swami though he rejected the idea of second marriage.
Valmiki - There are ways to repent for wrong thoughts coming in mind. You will have to do pati samyog karan vrat. On completing this vrat, you will meet your husband. That is why this vrat is called samyog karan.

(Even for thoughts coming in mind, one has to repent?😲 Then I will have to repent every second. But read somewhere that it is not required in kaliyug, so good.😊)
Sita - How is it possible?
Valmiki - Nothing is impossible in this world. There is no end to God's leela.
Sita - Will I be able to go in front of him?
Valmiki - You will not go. Circumstances will bring you.
Sita - Will he come here?
Valmiki - Some decisions should be left on the future. You do your duty and the rest will be good.

In Ayodhya
Ram thinks - Will the sculptors be able to make a statue of my Sita? Will they be able to put life into the statue?
Laxman comes.
Laxman - Bhaiya, the sculptors have started their work.
Ram - When will Sita be completed?
Laxman - At the speed the work is going, it will finish soon.
Ram - What is the news about yagna-sthal?
Laxman - There also lots of work is over.
Ram - Who is looking after the work there?
Laxman - You gave this responsibility to Bharat bhaiya.
Ram - But why is there no news from Bharat?
Laxman - May be he wants to inform you only after the work is complete.

Sumant arrives.
Sumant - Maharaj, Lanka king Maharaj Vibhishan, Kiskindha king Maharaj Sugriv and youvraj Angad have entered Ayodhya together with their armies. By evening they will be over.
Ram - This is a very good news. I will welcome them myself.

Urmila and Shrutkirti are talking.
Urmila - We were thinking so many things about Maharaj Sri Ram but we were wrong.
Shrutkirti - That is why we should not think such things about anybody.
Urmila - But at that time, all were thinking that Maharaj will remarry.
Mandavi - He cannot think of anybody other than Sita didi.
Urmila - But we are not God. We cannot read minds.
Mandavi - Yes, we cannot do anything except getting worried.
Kaushalya and Kaikeyi come there.
Kaikeyi - Why can't you?
Kaushalya - Do not worry, Urmila. We often have such thoughts in mind and later everything becomes clear.
Shrutkirti - Yes and now entire Ayodhya knows that Maharaj Sri Ram follows ek-patni (one wife) dharm.
Kaushalya - This is necessary for maintaining maryada in society. It looks like Ram is the first king to follow ek-patni dharm. I am proud of him.
Kaikeyi - Didi, entire Ayodhya is proud of Ram. Sita is no less. She has tolerated so much.

Vibhishan, Sugriv and Angad come to participate in the yagna.
Ram - It is my good fortune that you have come. I, Dashrath-nandan Ram, welcome all of you.
Sumant - Maharaj, devi Sita's statue is complete. Please come and inspect.

Ram inspects and is not happy.
(Many statues were shown. Does it mean that the sculptors made many statues so that Ram could pick one of them? Or only one statue was of Sita? This part was not clear to me from the episode.)
Ram - There is no comparison between Sita and this statue. Unlike Sita. this statue does not have the expressions on its face, does not have shyness, does not have Ma Kali's power because of which Ravan could not dare to touch her.
Vashishth - This is a very big problem. If the statue is not completed, then how will the yagna be done?
Ram - Is there no sculptor on this Earth who can make Sita's statue?
A voice - Wait Maharaj, I will make devi Sita's statue.

This sculptor is blind.
Sculptor - Give me a chance, Maharaj.
Sumant - But you cannot even see.
Sculptor - I do not need eyes to make the statue.
Ram - But how will you make the statue when you cannot even see?
Sculptor - Give me a chance, Maharaj. I will make the statue the way you want. I will make the statue using my mind's eyes. I will make the statue of devi Sita as you think of her in your heart and for that I do not need eyes. I only want to hear about devi Sita from you.
Ram - Ok, I will show you Sita's image as it is in my heart.

Kaushalya is worried.
Kaikeyi - What happened, didi? Now the golden statue of Sita is being made. Still you are worried.
Kaushalya - How can I be happy when a daughter in law like Sita is in forest and my son is a king and is still living the life of vanvas.
Kaikeyi - Am I not sad? But what can we do? Whatever is written in destiny has to happen.
Kaushalya - I know but being a mother, my heart is not in my control. Whenever I feel that we will get happiness, something bad happens.
Kaikeyi - Come didi, a new sculptor has come.
Kaushalya - So many sculptors came and went. Do not know if this sculptor will be able to make Sita's statue.
Kaikeyi - He is blind since birth and says that he does not need eyes to make a statue.
Kaushalya - My this happen. If the statue is not made, then ashwamedh yagna will remain only a dream.

In Ayodhya
Sculptor - Maharaj, with a quiet mind, think about Sita and explain to me. Then I will bring Mata into gold.
Ram - Sita is greatest amond women, she is a great daughter, a great wife, a great daughter-in-law and when she was going from the palace, she was going to be a moter. Do not know where she is and how she is.

In Valmiki ashram
Luv, Kush - Ma, gurudev has given us divine weapons. Now nobody can defeat us.
Sita - Now you are even more powerful. You were already very powerful.
Luv - Ma, now we have memorized entire story of Sri Ram.
Sita - Then you must have learned a lot.
Kush - Yes Ma, we learned a lot and he killed so many demons.
Sita - You also should become great like him.
Luv - But Ma, why are you here?
Sita - For 21 days, I will live in this temple. I am doing a vrat for which I will need sahastra-dal kamal (lotus of 1000 petals), which you two have to bring. On completion of this vrat, you will meet your father.
Luv and Kush are happy to hear this.
Luv, Kush - Why did you not tell about him before? We will go and meet him.
Sita - You cannot meet him now. Nothing can happen before its time. When the vrat is over, he will come here.
(Wait, Valmiki has still not said it clearly that Ram will come there.)
She thinks - If God wishes, you will definitely see your father.

Precap - Ram is doing a ritual in which he carries a kalash filled with water on his head. He seeks permission from rajmatas to do the ashwamedh yagna. They bless him.

I find the 'thought-sin' aspect of this absolutely absurd - and this was there in the previous serial as well. Since the original had nothing like it, I thought it a needless attempt to put on Sita the onus for having doubted Rama (itself a fictitious event - the requirement that he re-marry). WTF did either of the Sagars feel the need to introduce this? 😡😡😡 Plus Valmiki is being a sadist ,"You do your job, and the rest will be good". How was Sita going under going to be 'good'?

The other thing I hated about this was Sita telling K-L that they couldn't meet their father before the appropriate time. WTF? People can meet their parents anytime - there was never any constraint on that.

I didn't like the sculptures either - they looked more like ancient Greek goddess statues, and bore no semblance to Debina . But what's the point of this story - that Rama had to examine all the casts and approve one before it was plated (wasn't it supposed to be solid gold?😕), or that Ayodhya sculptors sucked at their jobs, or that blind sculptors can do a better job than non-blind sculptors? Somehow, this introduces a needless element of meanness to the story - Rama has to disappoint any number of sculptures who went through all that effort to make a worthy statue of Sita. (Incidentally, does Valmiki have more about the origin of that particular statue which was used in this yagna?)

P.S: K-L are happy to hear that they'll meet their father. But isn't Sita their father, as per the past episode when Vikat was taunting them that they couldn't catch a roc because they couldn't name their father? Since Sita is their father, why not challenge her on it, and tell her that for them, no parent exists except her? This is similar to the existing opinion that Rama exiled Sita, in contrast to the episode where she left on her own.

Oh, and today, Sumitra went missing. 😕

Thanks for the update akhl.

I wonder where this story is from - a blind sculptor trying to make a statue of Sita Devi by just hearing Ram's words about her 😕

Thanks for the update Avinash!
I actually liked this epi much better than the previous ones, don't know why. Yes, I agree the statues did not look like Debina, but wasn't that the point of the episode?
And I thought the blind man making a statue part was sort of sweet. It did not imply that not-blind people could not make good statues, but that this blind man's skill lay in hearing. And it gave a chance for Ram to describe Sita, therefore convincing the Ayodhyavasis even further of his love for her.😊
As for peope who think the part where Sita "doubting" Ram is nonsense, well, it may not be a part of Valmiki Ramayana, but Valmiki Ramayana is not the only Ramayana out there, and this is certainly not an "invention" of the Sagars. Way before the previous serial was taken, I've seen this story in two Luv Kush movies. This is a popularly accepted tale, so it's not wrong for the Sagars to put it in here. It's only the way in which Anand Sagar told the story that's way off. He could have left Sita's "suicide" attempt and her nightmare aside, and simply shown her sorrowful when she heard of the possibility of Ram remarrying.
And doing the yagna wasn't further test for Sita. Like Avinash said, the way in which people thought was more serious in Treta Yuga than it is now in the Kali Yuga. People were responsibly for not only their actions, but also their thoughts. Sita did not "doubt" Ram in the sense that she believed he was going to remarry, but she was only frightened that there may be a chance. On the praja's interest, he had exiled her. Why wouldn't he remarry her on that same praja's interest? That was her fear. She did not doubt Ram, but the praja.
And unlike in this serial, the previous one showed Valmiki telling Sita that merely uttering her name would sanctify people, and that she did not have to perform any vrata. But for her own peace of mind, he suggested it.
I saw the telugu Lava Kusa movie before I saw Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan/Luv Kush. The story made sense to me then and it makes sense to me now, even if it's not in Valmiki Ramayana. I only wish Anand Sagar told it in a better way, leaving aside the nightmare and the suicide thing, but I am not at all against him showing this part.
