At any rate, one thing they showed - the 3 rajmatas offering them fruits and other sweets, and Kush & Luv declining on the grounds that they didn't have permission from either their Guru or their Mother to accept such offers (which was what then prompted Kaushalya's question re: their mother's identity).
I know I'm playing a broken record here, but in the actual yagna, K-L declined 18000 gold coins, but never any food: in fact, they were told to eat exactly what all the rishis at the yagna were offered - fruits and other stuff, which would keep their throats clear for singing. In this episode, they were offered the same things - fruits, but politely declined it on very flimsy pretexts. In the original, the only time they declined things like the money was precisely because they were explicitly told to, not because in the absence of such permission, they were not allowed to accept anything.
Point here - had K-L told Kaushalya that their mother was Sita, what would have happened? She couldn't have forced them to stay in her palace, since they couldn't do it before Sita could be either re-united w/ Rama, or unless she transferred the kids to their care. So what was the point of showing this? The plots are bizarre, as usual. 😕😕😕
Anyway, episode ended w/ K-L in Rama's court: tomorrow, the singing starts.
