Bajrangbali (1976)

Zee TV's Ravan

Some of the more unusual stories, such as Ravan giving Lakshman a discourse on his death, or Indrajit's severed hand writing a farewell note to Sulochana, will be available from here. At least, when you see something really strange on Sagar, it might have been here.

Thank you Chandraketu. It will be really interesting to watch all the unusual stories. I have watched only one scene from Bajrangbali where Indrajeet's hand writes a message to Sulochana. Loved it when Hanuman climbed on top of another Rakshas and was teasing Indrajeet. It was really good.

I've read its english translation Krishna charitra by Bankim chandra- Critical analysis of Shrii Krishna, another old rendition Shrii Ramayana Darshanam in Kannada by 'Rashtrakavi 'Ku-VemPu" 'Vastav Ramayan by P V Vartak, its in Marathi but also its english version is available....Its an amazing read Have read some parts of Yuganta by Iravati Karve, her analysis on Sita and Draupadi along with other epic women Articles on Boloji.com/hinduism- these are from modern interpreters and not all may like their take on Ramayana and Mahabharat. Chandamama- kids magazine( I must have read this 'n' # of times😃) too is a very good source for Ramayan and MBH other than ACK .
  • Valmiki Ramayan from the net also own a copy from gita press ....many pages have gone missing

Movies like 'Mahabali Hanuman, Jai-bajrangbali, Hanuman Vijay, (parts of these movies available on youtube)

There is a movie in Tamil bearing the same name. I'm not sure it these two are the same movies released in different languages. I loved the song Ravan sings - the different ragas as his family members request it.
Another movie in Tamil - was it Ravan or Lankeshwaran? I am not sure. This movie showed the story of Sita being Ravan's daughter and was taken away to a distant land (Mithila) when it was foretold that she will bring about the destruction of Lanka.

Vibishna, me too. I love the Ravan songs in the tamil version especially where he will play the Veena and it will break which is bad shagun. I also love the song "indru poi Naalai Vaarai." That song is a masterpiece.

Translation: Indru poi Naalai Vaa means go and come back tomorrow. This is the episode where Ramji asks Ravan to go and come with more weapons the next day. Ravan is dejected and his ego is hurt. In the movie he sits in front of the Shiv Ling and sings this song. Beautiful song! I tried to find it on youtube to post it here but I couldn't find it. Even if you don't understand the language, it is a beautiful scene.

Thanks for the sharing Purvi ji.
Did Om Namah Shivay cover Ramayan too? I did not watch it fully. I was watching it in Tamil (I liked it a lot too) but it was stopped abruptly. One more doubt - Lord Shiv in this new Ramayan - is it the same person who acted as Lord Vishnu in Om Namah Shivay?
