Thanks for telling me that Mandodari ji. I'll search among the second hand books or the libraries.
Thank you.

I'll check out 'The Wonderous Crest-Jewel in Performance' when I go out next. It will be interesting to read.
There is so many versions of Ramayan and books on Ramayan that I think even a lifetime would not be enough to read, analyze and understand it all.

I do agree with you about the amount of information that is available and this is for Ramayan alone. It is impossible to know everything in a lifetime. I prefer MP3s, cassettes, or CDs with explanation and discourses because I can listen to it wheneve. I listen to them while I am driving, or loading dirty dishes into the dishwasher, or vacuuming, or playing with my dog, or whatever. I do not understand why more material is not being put into MP3s and other media.

Thanks for this page. I'll look at it in more detail later, but scanning it initially for contemporary sources, I spotted

(B) Hindu Scriptures

Ramayanas
(1) Valmiki Ramayana
(2) Ramopakhyana in the Mahabharata (Vana Parva)
(3) The Yoga Vasishtha or the Vasishtha Ramayana

Did Guru Vaishishtha &/or his disciples also write a Ramayan? Also, did Vyasa include a Ramayan within the Mahabharat, and if so, which source did he use?

You are welcome Chandra. I am not sure. I hope there are others in this forum who are more knowledgeable than I am. 😆😆😆 I found this website and I thought it will be helpful to people who are interested in exploring the Ramayan and its variation further. I am a novice and I was a little stunned to see so many resources on the Ramayan.

There are many incidents of Ramayan described in the Mahabharat as if someone tells the story of Ramayan to someone else.

I haven't read the Yoga Vasishtha yet.

Some of us have been discussing Bhavabhuti's Ramayan.

Its a Sanskrit Drama or Play. I had read somewhere that Sanskrit Dramas were not allowed a sad ending and hence the story of Uttar Kand was modified to make it a happy ending. In this version Ram and Sita are reunited after 12 years of separation (Sita Devi's banishment).

Another doubt I have - I thought Adhyatama Ramayan was written in Malayalam. But I found a book that had Adhyatama Ramayan in Sanskrit.

Which language was it originally written? Who wrote it in Sanskrit? (Or Hindi Perhaps)

This version of Ramayan (Adhyatama Ramayan) also speaks of Ram knowing his divinity at all times.

Vibs

Was the Adhyatma Ramayan the one that first had the story of Kush/Luv fighting Rama's army after capturing the ashwamedha horse?

The book I saw ended with Sri Ram's coronation, the greatness of Lord Ram's rule and the greatness of hearing the Ramayan.
