Friends, I just realised something. Sometime before, there was a topic on whether one of the mountains in the Andaman Islands could have beed the famous Gandamana Mountain. I had thought that there is a good chance that one of the hills in the Andaman Islands could be the Gandhamana Mountain. I totally forgot about Rameshwaram.

Rameshwaram is a small town situated on an island near the mainland of TamilNadu. There is a hill by name Gandhamana near Rameshwaram about 2 or 3 km from there. It is the highest peak in the island. Also, a shrine of Sri Ram exists here. The footprints of Lord Ram placed on a chakra is found in the shrine. (I have long wanted to visit this place. 😍)
Could this hill be the Gandhamana mountain?

in this ramayan, havent they missed out to show that rama wanted sita to be dressed as a queen when she came to meet him and then as rama commanded her, she did wear the jewellery which she had earlier flung in bundles to the vanaras sitting on rishyamook? she did not want to but when vibishana came to meet her, he said that rama wanted her to be dressed as befitting a queen, so she agreed.

Perfectly right, winnerasha I too thought Sita should have agreed to wear atleast the jewellery that Trijata gets for her because , its a custom (even now) for a married woman ,not to deny jewellery if someone gives it to her..... ..
According to Valmiki Ramayan, Shri Ram instructs in specific words to Vibhishana that Sita should appear in public in clothes and jewellery befitting to a woman of royal family, while Sita wanted to come the way she was in the prison; its on Vibhishana behest and knowing the orders of Shri Rama that she agrees to be present in royal clothes n jewellery.

Mangal-sutra is of later origin; None of the Ramayanas mention Ram tieing a 'Mangal-sutra' around Sita's neck

Hello Members,

I am a new member to this forum, though I have been following your threads for quite some time now. Its indeed a praisable effort to share thoughts about Ramayan, and come forward with the various facts linked with it.

As per the Valmiki Ramayan, Sita wears royal dress and jewellery when she comes to meet Ram, and as you all have said, in this serial, Sita could have worn atleast a couple of jewellery.
Thnx!

I could understand why she didn't come in silks, but I think Sita did wear some jewellry, because she had next to none when she was in the Ashok Vatika, and before approaching her husband, she should have some.
In the older Ramayan, they show Sita coming out of the palanquin with a long necklace, ear-rings, the jewelry piece which goes on the forehead, and lots of bangles, a bare minimum, but enough.

Yes, in Valmiki Ramayan it was said that Sita was presented to Ram in royal clothes and jewels. But no complains - it was good like this as well as according to this serial Ram had not instructed Vibhishan to bring Sita dressed as a royal woman.

I don't remember reading about the mangal sutra in any version of the Ramayan. I too thought that this tradition had come up in the later years. But I don't have any information of its origin.

Welcome to this Forum!
In the Valmiki Ramayan, Ram asked Sita to be brought before him dresses in royal clothes. If they had shown it in this serial, I think, they would have shown Sita wearing ornaments too.
