A question: who were the two senior citizen folks they showed in the sky along with the devas, apsaras, and rishis when they were showeing flowers on Ram? Does anyone know? Whom do they represent and who are the actors in real life?

I wasn't objecting to Hanuman tearing his heart. I was objecting to Hanuman being depicted in a slapstick manner as disrespecting Sita by tearing up the beads she gave him so publicly. If anybody gave you a bead necklace, or any jewellery, would you react that way? Not only was this blatantly disrespectful, according to the excerpt I fished out from valmikiramayan.net, it didn't happen. That's what got me so mad!

In Bajrangbali, not Vibhishan, but another of the local rulers challenged Hanuman independently by asking whether Rama was in his heart, and that was when he showed it.

Re: the welcoming, it was customary for the mother of the groom to welcome the bride into the new home, not the step mothers. In the previous serial, they showed it exactly that way - Kaushalya welcoming (rotating the thali with the diya & offerings in front of) Sita, Sumitra welcoming Urmila & Srutakirti, and Kaikeyi welcoming Mandavi. Nobody else could have done it.

But for rajyabhisheks, they were allowed to travel.

Hanuman looking at each and every pearl and then throwing it away is part of the folk tradition Ramayan. Someone told me it is part of the Ananda Ramayan. I am not sure because I haven't read the Ananda Ramayan. I have seen it in another Ramayan movie also.
This was an old one. It is not there in Valmiki Ramayan but It is part of the folk tradition Ramayan.

This is strictly IMHO but there is a very important lesson in this story. Once you have the Lord enshrined in your heart you don't need any external props for bhakti. Also, I do not think that Sita was upset because she knew what Hanuman wanted to accomplish with his own little leela. This is just my opinion. No offense to you or anyone.

At the same time I do not wish to discount the acting skills of all the other actors. The reason this Ramayan is so good because it is a team effort. So, kudos to all of them. 👏👏👏

Chandra, this story of Hanuman tearing his heart to show Ram/Sita there is a very popular one. A friend of mine told me she heard that it is from Ananda Ramayan. Others say that this story is found in the folk tradition Ramayan.

thanks chandraketu for posting the description from valmiki ramayan !!!!😊
i saw this story in the animated movie RAMAYAN ,where hanumanji starts biting every bead to see whether ram naam is there inside every bead or not ? & in tht process he breaks the string !!!
@ mandodri very well said tht Gurmeet is playing once in a life time role & he is soooooooooooooo divine as RAJA RAM !!!!! KUDOS to all the actors of RAMAYAN !!! 👏

Chandraketu, I haven't seen today's episode yet. I don't think I ever commented on what they showed yet (I haven't seen it) I did say in the discussion of the previous episode that I don't think Vibhishan sounded harsh when he challenged Hanuman like that. The only other times that I have heard that tone from Vibhishan was when he spoke back to Indrajeet after the latter yelled at him for being a traitor and when he was angry with Ravan for wounding Ram instead of him. But if that is how it was shown in the serial, I don't think I would support it either.
In the South, the mothers (or if they are not able to do it) the other women who bring up the child can assume the place the birth mother should take. In many instances I have read that 7 women (either including or excluding the actual mother) bring up a child. They are called Sevili Thaayaar (meaning nurses and companions to the mother who gives birth to the child) There is a poem in Tamil that speaks about one such mother (not the birth mother) travels to check on the daughter she brought up and finds her happy with her husband and child. The poem is written as if this woman is reporting it to the girl's birth mother. As Kambaramayan is written according to Tamilian customs it may have been depicted so in this verison. I was just saying that it is given so in Kambaramayan and here some woman relative should welcome the bride and bridegroom into the house be it mother, or sister in law or the other daughter in laws of the family or some relation would do. Though women folk do not generally travel there was nothing against a woman travelling to another place for any occasion (I think that is the way of the ancient Southern customs. (Sorry, if I am wrong. If so please correct me.)

Good summary. But I thought the depiction of Hanuman was rather slapstick style - I didn't like him being shown as disrespecting Maharani Sita, that too on her greatest day. Even if the beads didn't have Shri Rama's name on it, anything given to him by Sita, he would have treasured. At any rate, here is how Valmiki describes the part in question:

Rama presented to Seetha, an excellent string of pearls, furnished with superior gems, shining like a beam of moon-light; two clean and beautiful raiment and lovely ornaments. Looking towards Hanuma the monkey, Seetha, daughter of Janaka, having taken off the pearl-string from her neck, repeatedly caught the glimpse of all the monkeys

Looking at her, Rama who was acquainted with the gesture of another spoke to Seetha as follows: "Dear Seetha! Give the pearl-necklace to a person, with whom you are pleased and in whom the following viz. sharpness, firmness, renown, dexterity, competence, modesty, prudence, virility, prowess and intelligence are ever present." The black-eyed Seetha gave that pearl necklace to Hanuma. Hanuma, the foremost among the monkeys, by wearing that necklace, which was as white as a heap of moonlight-beams, shone brilliantly as a mountain silvered by a white cloud.

All the elder ones among the monkeys and others, who were foremost among the moneys, were honoured suitably with raiment and ornaments. Thereafter, Rama the tormentator of enemies, having thought over, presented articles according to their inclinations, to Mainada, Dvivida and Nila. Rama, who was unwearied in action, then suitably honoured Vibhishana, Sugreeva, Hanuma, Jamabavan and all other eminent monkeys with desired objects and abundant gifts. All of them went back, delighted in mind even as they had come.

Thereafter, all those excellent great souled monkeys, offering their salutation to Rama and getting permission from him, returned to Kishkindha. Having seen Rama's coronation-ceremony, Sugreeva the chief of monkeys, after getting honoured by Rama, entered the city of Kishkindha.

So why are the Sagars depicting Hanuman as disrespecting Sita, when he did nothing of the sort?😡

Thanks for the excerpts Chandraketu. I too had read the same story when I was reading the Valmiki Ramayan translation. It is depicted the same way in Kambaramayan as well.

in todays episode i also loved the way in which lakshman, bharat & shatrughana refused to accept the position of yuvraaj !!!! i loved the reason of lakshman the most the he cud not accept the yuvraaj position as he was short tempered & at time cud not think with a calm mind !!!!!

all the 4 eternal brothers were great in todays episode !!!! such emotional scene of the 4 brothers !!!👏

i agree tht during RAJYAABHISHEK ceremony chanting of mantras ,rishi vashstha putting tilaK on the forehead of Ramji ,playing shankh by the rishies was not shown ,these all r imp. rituals of RAJYAABHISHEK !!!!

YUP !!! RAM-SITAJI were smiling when the string broke & i think as it was shown in the animated movie ramayan & also in the movie smapurna Ramayan tht the string was broken in the process when hanumanji was checking the beads by biting with his teeth whether each bead contains ram naam or not ?????
tht was def a leela of hanumanji ,lets see what is shown in tomorrows episode !!!
