I also wanted to say that I like the kinder and gentler version of the relationship between the queens as shown by the Sagars. I know that was not the case in Valmiki's Ramayan but I cannot help myself. I prefer the Sagars version. 😆

@jai sri ram ----------yup!!! today we all were bowled over by the superb acting of GURMEET as always 😃

the expressions on gurmeets face as RAMJI were soooooooooo natural 😛

i wish the same expressions wud hv been shown on sitajis face too !!!!

@ mandodori & chandraketu ,yup !!! today we all loved the rude behaviour of the ayodhya praja towards kaikeye👏 ,

i think in the 14 years of exile of RAMJI ,ayodhya praja wud not hv said such harsh words to kaikeye liked the way they said it on the day of arrival of RAMJI !!! as i think tht they all wud hv thought tht this time they won't allow kaiekye to play any cheap shots for RAMJI !!!!

yeah !!! i wish they shud hv shown manthara in the 14 yrs exile period too !!!!

manthara i guess wud now had become an improved person !!!😕

Mandodari & Sita

Another thing I've sometimes wondered - how did Ashkavati & Yudhajit react once they found out what Kaikeyi had done? Were they proud of her, or ashamed? Remember, one of the conditions on which Dasharath was allowed to marry Kaikeyi in the first place was that her son would be the successor to him on the throne. This wasn't a demand made by Kaikeyi, but by Ashkavati. Depending on how they reacted, it may or may not have made sense for Kaikeyi to return to Kekaya for good.

I also can see why you like the kinder, gentler version of their relationship, but remember - Rama's exile wasn't the only sin Kaikeyi was ever guilty of. During their marriage, after the incident with Shambara where Kaikeyi saved Dasharath from getting killed by manovering him out of there, she became Dasharath's favorite. Unlike Rama, who spread the love, Kaikeyi's way was to rub in that fact that she was the favorite, and deliberately disrespect and slight Kaushalya & Sumitra - something not shown in the serial. As a result, Kaushalya & Sumitra never had a happy marriage, and when they finally did enjoy Dasharath's last moments, it was too little too late. It's also in this latter context that Lakshman's fury at Kaikeyi when he learnt of the exile makes more sense - unlike Rama, he was not Kaikeyi's favorite, so he'd have noticed more closely the shabby treatment Kaushalya & Sumitra received at Kaikeyi's hand. For this reason, while Rama's magnanimity was admirable, the side effect of that was that Kaikeyi also got away scot free for her misbehavior towards Kaushalya & Sumitra.

Anyway, thanks for your observations.

Indeed a fabulous episode today.... Ramji was being very expressive when hugging Nishad Raj. They could have shown Sita performing Pooja to Ganga Maiyya.
And it was nice they showed Manthara instead of leaving a loose end there. But I remember in their earlier Uttar Ramayan, after the Rajyabhishek, Ram & Sita come to seek Manthara's blessings.
In one version, Manthara is actually said to be very affectionate towards Ram initially and it is Indra who asks Manthara to poison Kaikeyi's mind so that Shri Ram would be able to fulfil the purpose of his avatar. Manthara agrees to do it but curses Indra that for this wrong act towards Shri Ram, Indra would never be worshipped in any household.

The only place I've read your account is on Wikipedia, and there, they failed to cite any sources for that. Can you cite any?
Manthara (Sanskrit: ?????), (also Kooni in some versions) [1]in the Hindu epic Ramayana, is a servant who convinced Kaikeyi that the throne of Ayodhya belonged to her son Bharata and that Rama should be exiled from the kingdom.

In one version of the story, Indra, the king of devas, asks Manthara to convince Kaikeyi to ask Dasharatha to exile Rama, because only when Rama is exiled will he face Ravana and kill him. Although Manthara agrees to do Indra's bidding, she curses Indra that, for the wrong he made to Rama, he would never be prayed to by any Hindu family. This is claimed to be the reason why Indra, despite being king of the devas, is never worshipped in any temple or family.[citation needed]
I've always felt Kaikeyi is being shown fully evil it would have been better if her character would have been shown with shades of grey.
Kaikeyi loved Ram. Her joys knows no bound when she hears from Manthara that Ram would be installed as crown prince, she offers Manthara a jewel also tells her to ask for a boon, its only after an over-night gruelling arguments of Manthara that Kaikeyi gives in.
Kaikeyi's father Ashwapati demands before her marriage( Kaikeyi was much younger than Dasharatha) to Dasharatha that Kaikeyi's son be made the ruler of Ayodhya and doesKing Dasharatha promise? If he promised then how could he break that promise and want to make Rama the prince regent?? I always wondered about it.

Well, actually I remembered this from a Ramayanam series showed on DD Tamil long back. It was aired in 1987-88 I think. The cast was not a popular one but I still remember the guy playing Ram was all painted in blue, with dark red lipstick and loads of eyetex.😆
But will surely look around if I can cite any source for this.

I too felt that Ganga pooja should have been shown😒.......
Kamban's Ramayana says that Manthara had a constant grudge on Rama, since his childhood because as a child he used to always shoot arrows at her 'bent' back and laugh gleefully
