Next day afternoon everyone was gathered inside Khushi's OPD. It was such a big cabin with a partition door, one side of the room all the examination instrument that an ophthalmologist will require was set up, where Khushi was examining Zoya's eyes which went on for another 45 minutes. After that Khushi slide the instrument aside and turned to Zoya
Khushi: Zoya I will be right back.
Zoya: Khushi is everything alright?
Khushi: yeah it is! don't worry I will be back soon I have ordered a juice for you have it and relax.
Zoya with the smile: thank you
with that Khushi went to the other side of the room where all were waiting for her closing the door partly
Khushi: well there is nothing to worry about that accident doesn't cause any damage to Zoya
All were relaxed hearing that but they continued bombarding Khushi with some or the other questions which she was answering patiently
On the other side, Zoya sat back relaxing a little, her eyelids felt heavy as Khushi said it was indeed a tiring day. After all the tests which were conducted on her, She was glad this one with Khushi was the last one. She just closed her eyes when a nurse entered from the other door. Zoya immediately understood hearing the footsteps
Zoya: Khushi are you back?
Nurse: no ma'am, I am the nurse here I just came to take my tray
Before she could complete, Zoya stood up from her place in that process her hand mistakenly pushed the glass of juice kept on the table nearby letting all the juice spill on her top and the glass was about to hit the ground and break into pieces when the nurse immediately held it on time.
Nurse: Are you alright ma'am?
Zoya: yes but what's wrong with me! I am getting clumsier day by day, can you please take me to the washroom?
Nurse: sure ma'am
With that, she held their hand taking her towards the washroom which was on the other side where Khushi and her family were seated, when in the middle Zoya heard another nurse's voice
Second Nurse: what are you doing? Dr. Amit is searching for you! he wants that report immediately.
Nurse: I completely forgot about it! (turning to Zoya) ma'am please wait for a minute, I will be right back
Zoya with a smile: sure
Zoya was just standing there so she decided to explore the cabin as she is not used to this place, while doing her exploring she reached the edge of the door which was partly closed and the conversation on the other side was audible to her. She heard her overprotective family giving a tough time to Khushi. She just chuckled and turned around to find the place where Khushi told her to relax but then she stopped in tracks hearing her father's voice.
Gaffur(hesitantly): Dr. Khushi can I ask you something?
Khushi: Yeah sure!
Gaffur: I have heard about you a lot, you don't stay in India much right?
Razia(interrupting them): What are you asking? Sorry about him, being a top-notch ophthalmologist is too much of work so obviously...
Khushi: Nothing as such but yeah in case of medical emergencies I have to travel
Gaffur: I'm asking because I tried taking your appointment in the past but was always on the waiting list then eventually got canceled.
Razia: So that's okay it happens why are you bringing it up...
She was interrupted by Khushi
Khushi: Canceled? that's not possible I prepone it or postpone it but never cancel my appointments
Gaffur: Well in my case it happened four times
Khushi(shocked): four times? I apologize for that! Lavanya better has an explanation
Gaffur just looked at her confused
Khushi(seeing him confused): Lavanya she takes care of all my appointments.
Gaffur: oh
Razia: You have so many patients so sometimes it happens...that is fine please don't bother. I'm sure she won't be even remembering such occurrence, it was long back, so leave it !
Khushi was above to say something when Asad slowly nodded in no.
Khushi: yea...yeah it happens sometimes, thanks for understanding and again deepest apologies for that Mr.Siddiqui. So for Zoya, you were taking my appointment?
Gaffur: please don't apologize! that's fine and yes for Zoya I was trying to get your appointment. This is understood that this accident didn't do any harm to her, thank god for that but since you did her examination is there any possibility for her to get her eyesight back? I mean she was not born blind so is there any chances?
Khushi: actually sir, In our eyes there is an optic nerve which directly goes to our brain which interprets the visual inside our brain, so I don't know after Zoya lost her eyesight years back what was the chances but now the function of that optic nerves has been completely stopped so we cannot do anything about it, I'm sorry sir.
Asad just sighed massaging his forehead when his gaze fell on the shadow of a lady,
Asad knew that Zoya is relaxing so it's not possible for her to hear the conversation so hoping for the shadow to be someone else he moved there though everyone noticed Asad going but didn't notice the shadow so thinking he is going to see Zoya they didn't bother him. Asad slowly turned towards the other side of the door to see the owner of the shadow and his fear turned out to be true that was indeed Zoya standing with continuous tears rolling down her beautiful eyes.
Asad was not able to say a word it was so heartbreaking for him to see her like this! It just felt like someone just ripped off his heart to pieces
Zoya was so lost in Khushi's word that she didn't hear Asad's moments, he was about to say something when he heard her mumbling
Zoya touching her tears mumbling "why are you crying what she said was something you have known and accepted long back so stop crying you stupid" wiping her tears vigorously from her free hand she continued
"you know!!! you can never see the world again so stop crying," she said to herself wiping another set of tears
Zoya sighing, "so what if I can never see this world or Asad but why do I need to see him? he is my soul! I can and will always feel him and his love which is more than enough" with that she again wiped her tears with both her hands making her stick slip away from her hand
Zoya(getting little anxious): my stick!
With that, she moved forward to search for her stick when she bumped on to Asad and Asad immediately held her hand in a tight grip to stop her from falling as soon as he held her hand she knew by that touch it was Asad and the next moment she was engulfed in a bone-crushing hug.
She could feel his hot breath and a tear drop on her shoulder she taught it was because of what Khushi told. Zoya didn't know that he witness her breakdown, she didn't want to hurt him more by showing her vulnerability so she thought to pretend that she didn't hear anything.
Zoya: So what happened Asad? what did Khushi say? well she told me there is nothing to be worried about
Asad's grip around her tightened hearing that. She is so heartbroken yet how graciously she is masking it as if nothing happened
Asad: you are right Zoya, it doesn't matter to me if you can see or not, you are and will always be my soul, you know day I fell in love with you I promised to myself something which I want to confess now.
Asad (coming out of the hug and cupping her face): I promised that I will never let this blindness of yours come in the way of our happiness and I will be your eyes, I will make my world (squeezing her a little) see this world through my eyes. I know it's not possible practically but I will make it possible the way my eyes guides me it will guide you, every second of your life, I promise you that.
Again tear roll down her eyes well this time it was not of misery but of happiness though destiny snatched a significant part of her life but compensated that by giving a most precious person who owns a golden heart and she is the only one that resides in there that's too much to ask for
Zoya: if being blind means I get to spend my life with you then I wish I am born like this in every birth
Asad(engulfing her in a bear hug): shhh... don't say such things
She also hugged him back resting her head on his chest hearing her favorite rhythm, that is his heartbeats
After some time, when Zoya was calm they went where their family was waiting
Humeira seeing them entering immediately went to Zoya's side
Humeira: baji are you...
Zoya(cut her off): stop asking me that, I am totally fine! you should ask this to Abbu, I am sure by now he would be standing there like totally mugged
Zoya(further added): by the way, I heard everything
Khushi: was I that loud?
Zoya: no! not at all, the way you were talking I thought I went deaf too
Khushi: Zoya I'm sorry you had to hear it like that
Zoya: don't be seriously Khushi, I know this long back so it's okay. I am totally fine but I am glad this happened...
Zoya: Abbu you accept it too, Khushi Raizada herself is telling, it's my fate and I am really okay with it!
Gaffur: if you say so dear, nothing is beyond your happiness
Zoya just smiled and they all left the cabin, well in all this the happiest was Razia. She was damn scared, though Asad had said that this is a normal check up, she still had a fear of some unknown yet dangerous secrets coming out but then her happiness knew no bounds when Khushi said that Zoya can never get her eyesight back.
Outside the cabin:
Arnav came to them as he was waiting outside for them
Arnav to Asad: So here you are! I believe you were not allowed to leave the room
Zoya(sighing hopelessly): as if this Jahapana listens to anyone
Asad: come on! I am good to walk
Arnav: just because you can walk it doesn't mean you will roam around with the fresh stitches instead of resting!
Zoya: I think you should reconsider discharging him today
Asad: no way! I am good to go! if you will keep me one more day then I will jump off the window and run away
Everybody laughed seeing his desperation
Arnav: no need to do that I'm leaving you today but please take proper rest. Let me do the last examination by that time you guys can commence with his discharge procedure
Ayaan: I'll come with you
Arnav: ok only one person is allowed but also can you please collect his latest MRI from the lab, I would like to have a look at it
Ayaan: sure
Zoya: Arnav there is nothing to worry about right?
Arnav: not at all! doctors never lie you know
Asad just coughed a little reminding him about the lie he was forced to tell Zoya the day before
Arnav: what the! .....I mean he is fine don't worry
Zoya just nodded in positive
Arnav(looking at Asad): let's go
A month later
Asad is fine now and everyone is happy, Zoya used visit Asad daily in Khan mansion until he recovered fully.
One day Asad, Zoya, Humeira, and Ayaan both were hanging out in a restaurant for lunch when Ayaan came up with the idea
Ayaan: A lot happened a month back, Bhai's accident and all In short it was a long month
Zoya: Indeed it was and I'm so thankful that it ended so well
Ayaan: Absolutely! Since now everything is fine, we can take a break
Humeira: Break?
Ayaan: Like a trip or something
Humeira: Wow! A family trip!
Ayaan: There you go boring head!
Humeira: Shut up! You only said we should plan a trip
Ayaan: Yes! A trip so that we can chill my idea of chilling doesn't include old songs, historical places or pillow houses
Asad: Hey! A family trip isn't that worst!
Ayaan: Sorry except for historic place, he is quite sensitive about it
Asad: I guess it's been long you had a meeting with Mukka Mukka Ahmed Khan.
Humeira: Who's that funny name though(Humeira said laughing)
Zoya: As a kid, Asad was a cranky baby who wanted to be the Popeye when he grows up so he used to eat Spanish and punch the poor Ayaan since then Ayaan started calling him Mukka Ahmed Khan.
Humira(looking at Ayaan): Serves him right!
Ayaan: Oh Please!
Asad(slightly embarrassed): How you know that story?
Then immediately turning to Ayaan, “Seriously Dude!”
Ayaan: You wer...were in Anesthesia sleeping like a log we wanted something to talk about
Asad: and you took this topic?
Zoya: It’s okay Asad!!! I think you were cute!
Asad said making a weird face
Asad: Chill Bhai! At least you wanted to be a human! Humeira wanted to be a dog.
Humeira: Baji!
Zoya: In my defense we were actually out of topics
Asad: You wanted to grow up to be a dog?
Humeira(embarrassed): Yeah!!! They are so cute and loyal
Zoya just controlled her laugh hearing that but Ayaan couldn’t control
Ayaan: No because they sleep all day doing nothing.
Ayaan and Zoya burst into laughter after that
Humeira: You both are so evil!!!
Asad(glaring at them): Indeed they are! By the way, coming back to the trip they idea ain’t that bad.
Ayaan: YES!!! I can’t believe you agreed! What do you say bhabhi?
Zoya: Just need to ask Abbu but yes that’s a great plan!
Asad: Humeira?
Before Humeira could answer Ayaan interrupted
Ayaan: She’s the part of the trip?
Asad: Ayaan…(Before he could complete Humeira interrupted)
Humeira: It’s Okay Jiju (turning to Ayaan) much to your disappointment I’m very much part of this trip!
Ayaan smiled a little but immediately masked it with annoyance.
Ayaan: Okay I will take off now, I have to visit a friend’s place (Turning to Humeira) should I drop you somewhere?
Humeira(rolling her eyes): No, Thank you!
Ayaan: Are you sure? (Ayaan said typing something in his mobile)
Humeira: Yes…
Humeira received a message notification from Ayaan which read, “Can’t you leave them alone” reading that Humeira realized by was he offering her lift
Humeira: Actually Yes! I wanted to visit the academy
Ayaan: Great! That falls in my way
Humeira: Okay great! See you guys later
Before they could reply they both left from there
Asad(turning to Zoya): Do they really think we don’t understand what they are doing?
Zoya: Really!!! Your brother is so into my sister
Asad: What? No!!! They just wanted to give us some privacy
Zoya: that’s what you think and Ayaan wants us to think.
Asad: that’s not so true!
Zoya: Ayaan always makes sure we four hangout and after some time takes off with Humeira to give us so-called privacy.
Asad: that doesn’t make any sense, in fact, he was not even including her in the trip.
Zoya: Because he has studied her will and doing that will enrage her and she will eventually agree. Trust me! That’s how Humeira is.
Asad: That is a possibility, also it can be all just cooking up in your mind and that they actually just want to give us our privacy.
Zoya: Allah Miya! What’s wrong with you? Now tell me when Humeira agreed, what was Ayaan reaction?
Asad: He smiled and then was annoyed (realizing something). He smiled and then pretended to be annoyed.
Zoya: Just gave him a knowing smile.
Asad: You are good at this.
Zoya: I know..
Asad: But then it's so …..shocking! What u think about it??
Zoya: Ayaan is a great guy. My baby is in safe hands so I don’t mind. What u think about it?
Asad: Should we help them out?
Zoya: Asad, we can’t spoon feed them, they are mature and knows how to handle their feelings.
We are there for them, but this is something which they should sort out on their own.
Asad: Make sense! Well surprisingly you are smart..(holding her hand and gazing deeply to her eyes with a smile, which she is unknown off)
Zoya: Surprisingly? You thought I am a fool..(with a smile as she knows he meant it right..) Asad just chuckled and sipped his lemonade.
Zoya: I expected a ‘NO’...Asad held her hand tightly kissing knuckles.
Asad: I was just messing with you.
Zoya: You are so bad.
Asad: I know.. Let’s go.
Zoya: (Giggling) Can you sing me Popeye the sailor man title track.
Asad: (Sarcastically) Very funny..with that he dragged her with him and they moved outside hand in hand
At night in Zoya’s house:
Humeira: Baji...Did you ask Abbu about this trip?
Zoya: No..it’s weird!
Humeira: Come on..you have to
Zoya: I know but... how will I convince him and what about Abbu?
Humeira: Don’t worry about that...I will manage her.
Zoya: Okay! I will go and talk, with that she went there and sat on a couch beside him.
Zoya: Abbu….
Gaffur: Yes beta...
Zoya: I wanted to actually ...you know...Asad was telling we all should go on a trip!
Humeira: Just smacked herself hearing that…
Gaffur: We all should go
Zoya: (Smiling nervously)...yes ..yes..yes…..absolutely.
Gaffur: Just started laughing…
Gaffur: You are so sweet.. Asad had called and told me everything and assured me that he will take good care of both of you.
Zoya: So...can we..?
Humeira: (Comes running towards Guffur and Zoya extremely excited) SO YOU ARE PERMITTING US…?
Gaffur: Just nodded in yes…
Humeira: YAY!!
Zoya with a huge smile hugs her father.
