PART 2

"Happy Birthday my Princess" Asad pecked Zoya's lips who was in a deep sleep. He makes sure he is the first one to wish her on her birthday.
For some minutes he did nothing but stared at her face. His eyes always had a very different gaze for her...was it love..was it obsession ..was it addiction...or all of them...God knows.

He kept a big teddy bear on her bed with some chocolates. He smiled remembering how Zoya was demanding for a teddy bear ...her innocent wish was his command and will always be.
He finally kissed her forehead and got up to go when someone held his hand from behind.
"Zoe you were awake"
"I was waiting for you...I knew you will come...it was so difficult for me to stay awake ..." Zoya pouted rubbing her eyes.
"Aww my baby ...did I make you wait for long" Asad sat down and took her in her lap.
" Thank you tcco much for my gift" Zoya kissed tightly on his cheek and jumped excitedly.
"Ok ok bacha now go to sleep...it's not good to stay awake so late" Asad's caring nature striked and making her lay down he covered her with the comforter and carressed her hair " Good night baby...!"

It was Zoya's 11th birthday. ...the house was on fire. Zoya was a very naughty child. She used to have too many wishes for her birthday...and Asad would see to it that her each and every wish gets fulfilled.
She entered Asad's room and sat on his stomach trying to wake him up. " Asad get up ...it's my birthday" she squealed jumping on his stomach. Asad was already awake ...he lazily pulled her in her arms.
"Happy Birthday" Asad pecked her cheeks.
"Where is my retun gift " he demanded crushing in her arms and there two sloppy kisses came on one cheek each. A perfect start for a perfect day.

At the dining table ...Zoe came down in the dress her Ammi brought for her. It was her birthday so she didn't have to wear her uniform today.
"How do I look" she jumped off two stairs and stood infront of the family members.
"My baby looks so beautiful. ...nazar na lage meri bachi ko" Dilshaad came and coochi cooed her.
"Mashallah. ...someone is looking pretty" Shaziya cooed to which Zoya gave her dimpled smile.
Zoya ran towards Asad seeing him coming down from his room.
"Aah...my Zoe is looking like a princess" he pecked her cheek and both of them got seated for the breakfast. All of Zoya's favourite dishes were gracing the table and she didn't know where to start from. But then there came a spoon full of pasta her way..and she opened her mouth "Hmmm" Asad smiled seeing her childish nature and then served himself with the same spoon.
And this was one of the most adorable things about him...he was a cleanliness freak...and would cringe at the thought of having someone's jootha...but when it comes to his Zoe...he doesn't mind...NOT AT ALL.
"Zoe drink some water" Asad said seeing her getting up from the table. ...
"No ..Asad the taste will disappear" Zoya and her theories.
Asad shook his head and picked up the glass" Here drink some."
And there was someone standing with a smile which showed how grateful she was to Allah.
Shaziya loved Asad...no doubt but her love and adoration for him touched the skies when she sees him with Zoya. He has always been an angel for him ...and she doesn't wish it to change ever.

Asad-Zoya boarded the bus and settled in the last seat. Haider gave Zoe a bear hug and wished her." Happy Birthday my darling"
"Thank you Haider bhai" Zoya smiled."I look like a princess na" she asked Haider who smiled in affirmation. But some boys and girls started laughing which infuriated Asad.
"What is there to laugh" He shot a deadly glare which silenced them all. Seeing Zoya's ready to cry face Asad pulled in her lap" She is my princess...understood..." He said and turned his head " Jealous fellows!!"

Reaching the school they got down. And as per routine Asad and Haider dropped Zoya to her classroom.
Classes were going on when Asad saw Zoya roaming with her friend. She was there to distribute chocolates. (It used to be fun na when on our birthdays we used to roam in the whole schole along with a friend under the pretext of distributing chocolates
;;)

The teacher just took leave and Asad along with Haider was out of the class. "Care to share some chocolates" Hearing Haider's voice Zoya turned back and gave two chocolates to Haider. Then she took a handful of chocolates and forwarded them to Asad. "Mujhe do...aur Asad ko itne saare" Haider expressed his fake anger.
"Toh...I love him more na" Zoya said as a matter of fact earning a huge smile from Asad and he picked her up swinging her in the air " My Zoe loves me the most...hai na" Asad cooed
Zoya bobbed her head and kissed his cheek.
Haider gave one chocolate to Zoya's friend who was looking at them with a shy smile.
"I already gave you one na" saying Zoya tried to snatch the chocolate from her friend.
"Zoe..." Asad dragged her name in a mock scolding tone. "Sorry"
Zoya gave the chocolate back .and waved at Asad and Haider.
"Come to meet me during recess" she quipped. " Bolne ki zaroorat hai" Asad pinched her cheek which made her smile.

It was Zoya's birthday ...so Asad and Haider along with some other friends were sitting in the canteen with little Zoya in between.
Asad was feeding Zoya as she was too exhausted...she had woken up too early in her excitement and after all the daur-bhaag she did at home and school made her lose her precious energy.
"Only two more periods bacha...phir to chhuti" Asad tried to make her mood better. Zoya yawned like a lazy cat ...seeing that Asad kept her hand infront of her mouth. "She is tired" Asad tried to defend and whispered " Zoe how many times I have told you...keep your palm infront of your mouth while yawning.
"Kya Asad ...manners k classes mat laga...we didn't mind...she is our darling" one of Asad's friends smacked him. It was hard to believe but the akdu Asad had got best of the friends.

Reaching home...the first thing Zoya did was throwing herself in the bed .
Dilshaad and Shaziya had gone out for the preparation of Zoya's birthday party.
"Zoe...atleast change and then sleep" Asad tried to wake her up.
'Mhhmm..."Zoya made a noise and that was a signal that she shouldn't be disturbed.
Asad smiled and then moved forward to open her shoes and socks.

It was two hours of sleep that rejuvenated Zoya and the birthday girl was back again.

At night some friends of Zoya and more friends of Asad were seen celebrating. They were dancing and enjoying...and finally it was time to cut the cake. A 3 tier cake was brought in the centre ...Zoya stood on the chair to match up the level. And Shaziya held the knife and gave it to Asad. Asad smiled and made Zoya hold it and then wrapped his fingers over hers. It was a ritual since Zoya's 2nd birthday.
"Happy Birthday ..." everybody started singing...while clapping.
Zoya cut the cake and took a big piece and stuffed it in her mouth. According to her she has shown enough patience. .. OK the fact is.. Zoya had a thing for cakes...just the sight of cakes made her mouth salivate to an extent she only knows. The proofs were the hungry gazes she was caught with in almost every birthday party of her friend or Asad's friend.
And it doesn't stop here she also loves cutting cakes...given a chance she would love to cut every cake irrespective of whose birthday it is...but alas not everyone is as generous as Asad who smilingly gives away the knife to her on his birthday. That's why she loved him the most.
Seeing Zoya gobbling cake pieces one after another...Asad smiled and then picked up a piece and offered her . Zoya smiled and opened her mouth where already a lot of cake was stuffed.
While satiating her hunger she stuffed a piece in Asad's mouth too...and eventually all got to have the cake even though a little.
Zoya was excited to show her teddy bear to everyone and she was just getting down ...when she missed two stairs and THAP... she fell down on her face.
"Zoe..." Asad shouted and came running. Shaziya and Dilshaad also followed along with Rashid.
Asad immediately picked her up ...and started shaking her face...she had fainted.
"Ammi ...Zoe is not opening her eyes" Asad started panicking and with in few minutes his face was red and covered with tears. Shaziya and Dilshaad were also scared. Fortunately Dr. Shakeel who was the Khans' neighbour was present there.
"Don't worry she is ok...due to shock and this injury on her head she fainted...she will get consciousness in an hour" Dr. Shakeel smiled and that relieved the Khans.
The party was over and now it was only the khans.
"Beta ...go and sleep I am there" Shaziya caressed Asad's head who was not ready to move away.
"Nahi Phuphi...my Zoe needs me...see kitni zor ki lagi hai" Again tears came in Asad's eyes ...he caressed her forehead lovingly.
Dilshaad has observed Asad's shivering all the time...she has always seen something different in Asad's eyes.
"I am thinking too much...it's his love" Dilshaad shrugged off the thoughts.

It was after one hour when Zoya finally opened her eyes. Asad smiled and kissed her all over.
"Are you alright my baby" he asked in a concerned tone.
"Hmm...but it's paining a little" Zoya complained.
"It will get ok..." he kissed her injury and passed her a pain killer. Shaziya who had gone to bring water at once rushed to Zoya and hugged her and kissed her forehead.
After talking for sometime...due to the effect of medicines...Zoya dozzed off.

"How is my Zoe" Asad kissed her cheek waking her up.
"Good" she smiled. ...but then how can she miss the opportunity to bunk the school...
"But it still pains ...I don't think I will be able to make it to school for a week" she continued in her upset tone.
"Ok my jaan...but there is this picnic organized by the school on Wednesday. ...I think I will have to get your name" Asad was cut in between
"Pain is subsiding ...I think I will be ok by evening" Zoya spoke at once. ...
"Nautanki" Asad started tickling Zoya and soon the room was filled with her laughter which was music to Asad's ears.
