Part 2
"The taste of love is sweet...When hearts like ours meet...I fell for you like a child...Oh, but the fire went wild.

Rehan saw Sanam run towards him and as she approached, he stopped her.
"Sanam, wait. I need to talk to you" he said, as he put a hand out, and held her wrist. "Come with me" he said, as he led her out into the garden.
"Now tell me!" he said as he let go of her wrist and turned her around to face him.
"Tell you what?" said Sanam looking up at him quizzically.
"Tell me what is going on! Tell me why you left the wedding!"
"Rehan...you don't understand. It is a lot more complicated than you can imagine!"
"Sanam...however complicated it is, I KNOW you! I know how much you love Aahil bhai. I know how seriously you take your commitments. I just cant believe you would betray him like this? Please tell me what happened!"
"Rehan. I WANT to. I do. But I cant!"
"Cant or wont?" said Rehan, looking pointedly at Sanam. She looked at him for a moment, gulped and looked away. Rehan shook his head in frustration. WHY wont she talk to him?
"Fine! If that is the case, then I have to assume you really DID have second thoughts about a lifetime commitment to Aahil bhai!" said Rehan. Sanam was about to protest when he stopped her. "There is only one solution to this mess!"
"What?"
"You have to divorce Aahil Bhai!"
"What?"
"Why are you so shocked? You had second thoughts right? So whatever reason brought you back, the reason that made you run must have been stronger. So why not make it official Sanam? Why not officially leave him? Let him get on with what semblance of a life he has left?"
"Rehan...yeh TUM kehe rahe ho? Are you serious?"
"Yes I am serious!"
"I can't do it Rehan! Tum Samaj kyon nahin rahe ho? I LOVE Aahil!"
"Ok then! I believe you Sanam! I believe you love him! If you say so, I will accept that. I wish you would tell me what made you run, but if you say you love him, then I will trust you. But the problem here is that HE dosent! Because of that he needs to understand that you won't be available to him as an "option!", when he has finally decided he wants to listen to you! Tell me... Do you trust me?"
"Yes! Of course!"
"Well in that case, hear me out!" said Rehan as he turned to Sanam and they quietly had a discussion.
"What? Rehan...I am not so sure about this!"
"Trust me Sanam. This is the only way! Tomorrow, I will get the needful done, and you have to confront Aahil bhai! Tomorrow. You need to do this Sanam! This is the only way!"
Sanam nodded her head in agreement, and they said their good-nights and parted company for the evening.

The next day Sanam went in search of Aahil. He was not in his room, and she asked Lateef who told her that "Aahil baba" was in the library cum office. Sanam went into the library with a determined stance. She knew what she was about to do was a risk. But a risk was needed to be taken at this time! She walked into the library decisively. Aahil was sitting behind his desk and was staring at the screen of his computer. He seemed to be deep in thought. Sanam paused just inside the door as she gathered her strength for the confrontation that was coming. Aahil heard a sound near the door and looked up. He saw Sanam standing just inside the doorway. She seemed to be holding something in her hand.
"Yes, what is it Sanam?" asked Aahil, pretending more annoyance than he felt. He was actually curious to know why she had come to the library to seek him out.
"Aahil, I have made a decision!"
"Really? Please do share with me! Is it like the last great decision you made? Leaving on our wedding day, or better still, deciding to come back?"
Sanam ignored his sarcasm, and silently handed him what looked like a document that was in her hand.
"What is this?" said Aahil looking at the document, and then at Sanam.
"Divorce papers!" said Sanam, her tone quiet and serious.
Aahil looked up in shock. "Divorce papers?"
"Yes Aahil. Divorce papers! Since you don't want to give me another chance, and you said you don't want to hear any explanation from me, what did you expect me to do? Stay here forever watching you and you're so called second wife living your life? Thanks but no thanks!"
"How did you get the documents made? I mean...do you know any lawyers here in Bhopal?"
"I still have friends that are willing to help me when needed Aahil! Rehan helped me get those documents done!"
Aahil looked at Sanam in shock. "REHAN?"
"Yes. Rehan! I know he works for your family and he is pretty much a part of it. But that doesn't mean, he wont be a loyal friend to me!"
Aahil looked at Sanam, his eyes cold. He gave a small laugh. "Tell me Sanam...are you trying to divorce me, coz you have already worked out your Plan B? What is it? To marry Rehan? If so, let me enlighten you. That option may not be as easy as you think. Did he tell you among his other communications, that he has a girlfriend?"
Sanam looked at Aahil, her eyes surprised. "Rehan had a girlfriend? Why had he never mentioned this to her?", she thought.
"He didn't tell you?"
"No!" Sanam admitted reluctantly.
"Interesting!" said Aahil, his tone sarcastic. "I wonder why he would keep the information of his girlfriend from you? The one he told me proudly who was"Just like Sanam!"
Sanam looked at Aahil with a frown.
"Yes...he told me his girlfriend was just like you! At the time I disagreed. I told him that "there is NO one like Sanam!". Of course at the time I meant it as a compliment! But I was right. There really IS no one like you Sanam. First you run away on our wedding day without an explanation. I find myself staring at a random stranger sitting on our bed on what was supposed to be our wedding night! THEN, you waltz back in and want to "Explain" and you tell me that I need to "Trust" you! Then a few days later, you waltz in with divorce papers, and tell me you've decided to move on! It IS true, there really IS no one else like you!" Aahil said, his voice bitter. "Get one thing straight Sanam. There is NO way that I will divorce you, so you can run off with Rehan, or with anyone else for that matter! You can't just break my heart to pieces, betray me in the worst possible way... and walk away like it meant nothing dammit!"
"Contrary to what you may think Aahil, I don't want to divorce you so I can "Run off" with Rehan or anyone else. But what I don't get is how you can be so selfish? You don't want me to move on...You don't want to let me leave? But you don't want to give me a chance to explain? You don't want to let me in? WHAT the hell DO you want from me Aahil? This is not fair!"
"Fair? You want to talk of what's fair? You think what you did to ME is fair? You condemned me to the current JOKE of a situation that my life has fallen into Sanam! It is thanks to YOU, that I am married to a random stranger and being forced to give her the status of my wife! Have you ANY idea what sort of HELL this is for me?"
"It's amazing, that you can only see the hell that YOU are in Aahil! THAT was always your problem! You always think that only YOU have problems in life! That you are the only one who lost anything in life! Well let me enlighten you Aahil...you are WRONG! Main bhi bohot kuch koya hun zindagi main! It's not just you that's in hell! I am in hell too. I walked in here to find you married to a random stranger as well. How do you think that made ME feel? I am your WIFE! How would you feel if you found me married to another man? You cant even let me go. Even the idea of me marrying someone else is appalling to you! Well MY reality is that I have to watch you married to another women day in and out in this house! Well I WONT do it! I won't! I want you to set me free. I won't tolerate another women in my house, in my life. It's either HER or ME Aahil. You choose! You can't have it both ways! But I know you won't ask her to leave, coz your precious AMMI brought her here! Well let me ask you this... WHY is it that she brought a random women to marry you? Why didn't she just tell you I left and be done with it? DON'T tell me it's to save your family honor? What honor is left in this situation? You were conned into marrying a stranger. Now you're stuck. But let me tell you this. YOUR Ammi did this to get rid of me! She hates me and she wanted to give my place to someone else! You fell for it Aahil. So there is nothing more to say!"
"Sanam!" said Aahil standing up. "How dare you accuse my Ammi when it was YOU who didn't keep the integrity of our relationship? YOU who ran from me? SHE did what she had to do to salvage the situation!"
"Really? Is THAT what she did? Salvage it? Or ruin it even more? There is no point discussing this with you, because you will NEVER see what Begum Sahiba is really doing. You are SO blinded by loyalty to her! Well you can live in your blindness, but I refuse to be a part of it Aahil! I want you to set me free! If you refuse, I will go to the Maulavi Saahab and tell him that you married again WITHOUT my consent, and now forcing me to stay married to you, when I do not WISH to live in this house with a second wife! HOW will you save your "Izzat" then Aahil? How will your Ammi save your Izzat? After all, SHE got you married to a stranger to save you from shame? How will she feel when it all comes out in the open, that you were conned into this marriage by HER?"
"Sanam, just because I am listening to you, don't think I will let you say ANYTHING and get away with it! I will NOT tolerate you speaking this way about my Mother!"
"Fine Aahil! You know what you have to do, if you don't want to tolerate me anymore. The papers are in front of you. You sign them. Let's end this farce, once and for all! THEN you can go to your con wife, and CONTINUE this farce with her! I have had enough of your blind love for Begum Tanveer!" saying this, Sanam turned around and stalked out of the library. She was fuming, and she had said SO much more than she had intended. But she also felt a sense of relief. She had told Aahil exactly what she thought of his Mother and this so called farcical second marriage of his.
"Sanam!" yelled Aahil behind her. But she ignored his voice and continued to walk away. Then suddenly something occurred to her. Didn't Aahil say that Rehan had a girlfriend? Also, didn't he say she was just like HER? What did he mean by that? How can Rehan's girlfriend be just like her? Then suddenly Sanam stopped. Her eyes widened as a thought occurred to her? Could he possibly be talking of SEHER? No, he cant be, Sanam thought shaking her head. He had said she was "Just like her", not LOOKED just like her! Because let's face it...She and Seher were chalk and cheese. They looked alike, but they were not alike! So he cant possibly mean her. Also, where on earth would Seher meet Rehan? Not to mention the fact that she had never mentioned a boyfriend?
Sanam was walking all dazed when she suddenly almost bumped into someone.
"Sanam" said Rehan. "What happened?"
Sanam looked up at Rehan. "Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend?"
"What?" said Rehan, looking at Sanam in confusion. Then suddenly he realised what she just said. Had Sanam just asked him why he didn't tell her he had a girlfriend? He shook his head. Did he hear her right? Had he not confided in her SO many times about Suneheri? Even to the extent of telling her that he was going to give their relationship another chance?
"What are you talking about Sanam? Of course I told you!"
"No you didn't Rehan! I would remember something like that? AAHIL just told me! THAT is how I found out! How could you keep something so important in your life from me? We are friends?"
"YES we are! THAT is why I told you! I can't believe you just forgot? I told you ALL about Suneheri and how I fell in love, but we broke up, and how I wanted to give her another chance! In fact...I remember I told you that on the day of your second Nikah to Aahil bhai!"
"What?" said Sanam, and then she suddenly stopped, as she realised what Rehan had just said. Did he say "Suneheri?" THAT was Seher! He IS talking about Seher. "Ya Allah" said Sanam, covering her mouth with her hands! "Rehan...your in love with SEHER?"
"Seher?" said Rehan in confusion. "Who is Seher?"
"My sister!" said Sanam quietly. "My twin!"
