A long chapter [I'm certainly not complaining about the length], so much to analyse:
That picture! - Nostalgic!
Asad Ahmed Khan and his Family, in respect of the show were purely based and written on integrity, emotions, relationships and righteousness. I personally don't know you, our interactions are purely based on your writing, yet I respected you as a writer, if my memory serves me correct I have previously told you this. After reading this chapter I respect you as an individual for your thought process. You have fragmented this family as their originator [I have absolute respect for GK and KSG, for giving birth to AAK] would have to their elementary substance and soul. I cannot reiterate what an amazing job you have done here with the original characteristics, personalities and qualities. I promise you GK would be amazed if she read this FF.
Were you one of the creatives'? 🤪
The greatest reason for my adoration towards Asad, is my ability to relate to his character, both the positives and negatives, his birthday was never celebrated, I'm certain he would have been a Cancerian. If you would have noticed I have a partiality complex to AAK for numerous reasons and I love your identification and perception of him, Asad, Zoya and AsYa were left incomplete, we unfortunately never got a perfect culmination to them, you have done perfect justice to GK's AAK but I love and adore your Zoya more than GK's one and this is one of the many things I still lament because we were denied closure.
My vocabulary falls short in analysis of Zoya, and that's not because she's some perfect, unrealistic super women, but because she's an imperfectly perfect human just as Asad is. Zoya is the face of a dignified, self-righteous women in true essence, who takes a leaf out of her "Ammi's" book, Dilshad is an exemplary women, mother and more importantly human and its obvious the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, Najma was brilliant [Unfortunately she was ruined on the show, by introducing the Imran track.]
The emotions and dialogues in context were spectacular.
I had high expectations for Asad's realization of his erroneous, I'm glad the appeasing and forgiveness hasn't been dealt with entirely within this chapter.
Here's what I thought was outstanding:
"She was human, and what hurt her, hurt her, and she wouldn't back away from letting him know that."
Somewhere along the chapter, I'm not sure if it was Zoya's monologue or introspect [Cannot seem to find it now], but what I inferred was she wants him to recognize she is now a part of his soul and he needs to stop being an idiot at the drop of a hat and utter the verbal garbage he does when physically and emotionally overcome by anger. Its something he needs to realize and accept, he doesn't want to burden her with his troubles and past and therefore doesn't understand he now has someone to share all of that with, I would like to see that addressed and it seems as if it may come in the next chapter. Like always he deals with his inner turmoil in the manner which he knows best but now he has an amazing women at his side, who understand him better than he knows himself, someone to ease and share his troubles with.
"Tear stains on her cheeks, Zoya was sleeping with a frown, Asad observed. Placing Aahana gently on the space next to her, Asad stroked her forehead carefully, ironing the creases, shameful that he had put her in this condition just 8 days before their wedding.
"I am sorry sweetheart, so so sorry," he whispered painfully, holding her palm in his, kissing it softly. Hoping she would wake up, admonish him all she wanted, hit him if she wished to, but just talk to him. He looked down at Aahana who was gazing at the both of them silently sucking her thumb. Smiling softly at her innocence he pulled her thumb out of her mouth and bend down to kiss her temple, "Sleep baby!".
He slowly freed Zoya's palm from his clasp and laid it on Aahana's. Looking at the both of them for one last time, he moved to get up.
"Na!" Aahana whimpered shaking her head and clutched at her father's sleeve. Asad promptly sat back and silenced her,"Ammi's sleeping baby, no making noise." Not wanting Zoya to wake up, he half lay on the bed next to Aahana and stroked her head quietly waiting for her to sleep so he could leave. Seconds passed to minutes, and minutes to hours, the silence, and the peaceful sight of his family lulled Asad to a deep slumber.
Zoya stirred feeling rapid movements beside her. She didn't need to open her eyes to know who it was. Mothers had a vague sixth sense when it came to their children and unconsciously she had procured it too.
Her eyes fluttered open to see Aahana laying in the bed next to her, holding onto the hem of her kurta in one fist, but still asleep. She bent down and kissed her forehead slightly, brushing the few unruly tendrils on her forehead. Her eyes then darted towards Asad leaning towards the baby, sleeping uncomfortably with his legs dangling to the floor. Her smile faded away, as she remembered their argument from last night. The dejection and hurt refaced.
But even in her anger she was unable to see Asad in any sort of discomfort. Taking a pillow she gently tried to place it below his neck that was uncomfortably perched on the bed post.
"Zoya," he mumbled wearily as he was roused from his uneasy slumber. Zoya recoiled, moving her hand apart from his neck and looked away. Realizing the remoteness from her end, he sat up awkwardly," Woh actually Aahana woke up early this morning, she couldn't sleep, was asking for you so I got her here, she was restless here too so I stayed till she was asleep and didn't realize.."
"It's ok Asad, you don't need to explain," Zoya broke his rant. Sitting up, she covered Aahana snugly and scurried out of bed."
Absolutely adored this scene, heartrendingly beautiful yet adorable and you know how much I love Asad's "Sweetheart" endearment. 😉
Reminded me of this scene:
""Leave me Asad please."
"Not until you look at me," he said.
Zoya looked up at him, though grim and retorted," Now I am, so leave my hand."
But he didn't," Not until you talk to me."
She shut her eyes," I am," she hissed, squirming in his hold.
"Not until you forgive me," he countered rigidly.
Her eyes shot up, she shook her head, then breathed in shakily," Fine, I forgive you."
Asad stared back, and scoffed sadly," You don't mean it, right?"
"What do you think Asad?" she asked forlornly.
"You don't," he admitted and his hand left hers," Can we talk Zoya?"
"This isn't the right time."
"When will it be then? Tell me when will anytime be a better time than now Zoya?"
"When I am sure you're not angry enough, to hurt your Ammi... And me. When you realize the extent of the damage your raging temper can do, that you find so hard to control," she snapped.
Asad balked, shameful," I am sorry I shouted at you. I am sorry I lost control. I said a lot I should have never said and I can't tell you how guilty I am for hurting you Zoya," he edged closer to her. As his remorse found its way through his eyes, he felt weak and lay his head on her shoulder, weaning his arms around her waist, mumbling," I am sorry," but her hands dangled stubbornly, and Asad felt the void without the warmth of her hands around him."
That was very captivating, the head on shoulder pulled at heartstrings.
The exploration of Asad and Najma in this chapter was an absolute pleasant surprise, from breakfast to the last scene as a family, wish that was delivered to us on the show, there was scope in this initial episodes where Rashid was suppose to be visiting and they had a conversion in Najma's bedroom or rather Zoya's. 😉
Aahana - I fall in love with that angel a little more after every chapter, cant wait for you to begin the OS's that doesn't mean I want this to end soon. You write her amazingly adorable, I just want to smother her. ❤️
Zoya found a pizza box with a note hanging from it. You're angry with me, I am able to take it. Don't be angry on yourself, THAT I won't be able to bear' it read.
Heartbreaking, why do you do this in the first place Mr.Khannn? I would never accept his wrong doings, but I can never be angry with him, he is beyond a gentlemen when he doesn't lose himself to anger.
" Bachpan ki aadat ab bhi nahi gayi haina? Tab bhi galti karte the and instead of saying a sorry like most people do, you'd get me a chocolate to compensate for it,"
"Because I wanted you to know that your Asad will never grow too big for his shoes. Not so big that he is allowed to hurt you."
"Mai jaanti hun ki tumne mujhse jo kaha, it was for my own good. I know your intentions were noble, they always have been when it comes to me. If I didn't respect them I wouldn't have waited till you accepted my decision to go to Rashid's house,"
"When my children are fighting with me for my own dignity, how can I not regard what they think? My family is the only reason I've survived years of struggle. Why would I care for anyone and anything more than all of you? Mere liye tum important ho, Shireen nahi,"
"You have the best daughters," he corrected, smiling at his family. "And granddaughter,"
The family scene in Dilshad's bedroom was tear- jerking. The chocolate idea was charming.
"For now let's be with her, try to quieten her."
Aahana will always remain their personal cupid.
" Your feet will start hurting,"
What's he made of? Sugar and Spice and all things Nice. ☺️
""Sorry is a small word for all that I said to you Zoya, and my saying it even a hundred times isn't enough. But this is the first amongst them," and holding her hand, placed the bar in it.
Zoya chuckled, holding the chocolate tight in her fist and closer to herself. When she looked up he was still gaping at her, "No!" he exclaimed, "You can't have forgiven me already Zoya. You.."
"You're an idiot Asad, such an idiot," she laughed, bend over to take him into her arms. When he didn't respond she moved away a bit, "Stop thinking so much, you've done enough of it for the day," she taunted.
Asad couldn't fathom what and how Zoya had come from not wanting to talk, to hugging him now. "Zoya.."
"Later, or Aahana's going to catch a cold," she pulled apart. Removing Aahana from the water tub she wrapped her in her robe. Asad just stood staring at Zoya flitter across the room, diaper and change the baby, talking to him rather bickering with him as if nothing had happened at all."
Giving her that chocolate and beginning to realize the actuality of everything that's happened. - Enthralling!
" You're a miracle, you know that?" he whispered, "You better know that,"
Too much emotion here, I'm not sure what would be befitting, apart from the fact this couple are enchanting together.
"But I've been meaning to do this from sometime Zoya and I don't think there could be a better time."
Picking an envelope from the table he handed it to her," I want you to know how much you mean to me Zoya."
"What's this?" she implored.
"Open it and you'll know."
Tearing the envelope, Zoya removed the sheet of papers in it to read them. Her smile vanished, the tenderness misplaced by extreme shock, which finally turned into raging anger."
Why do I feel the contents of this envelope, will make me fall in love with this imperfectly perfect man all over again? If it is what I think it is then I just want to say materialism doesn't matter to me where love is concerned nor does it matter to Zoya, but the sentimental value of it when it conscientiously registers would be overwhelmingly breathtaking.
