I just want to say something that I have been seeing on the forum for days. People questioning why Muslims are playing Holi.

I understand it sounds odd but it isn't! Think about it. The Khan family lives in Bhopal in India. If they were living in Pakistan or another primarily Muslim country, it would be VERY rare, and completely out of character. But they live in India. Their neighbors, colleagues, and friends may be Indian.

Celebrating another cultures holiday is not WRONG. Anyone who thinks it is, i feel is ignorant. I don't mean to insult or say anything rude, but it truly is ignorance.

In America, we celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Easter, etc... by going to parties, drinking, having fun, but we aren't Christian, or Irish...no one says we cannot, because it's about brotherhood.

If the QH team showed such a BEAUTIFUL thing then it's INTELLIGENCE on their part. They are taking a step to showing that Muslims and Hindu's can share in each other's happiness. There is nothing wrong in doing so. It is bringing two cultures together. Plus, Gul herself is Mulsim. So if she is showing something like this, then how can we say she is doing something wrong, or did something wrong?

I say HATS OFF to QH CV's, Gul and crew for doing something completely out of the ordinary and showing brotherhood and friendship between to cultures and two religions whose relationship is constantly being questioned.

i agree about the diversity dear, but if they had gone to others party and wished them its ok,but they the self are playing holi,it's completely wrong in Muslim community...if they just wish and have little fun it's ok in terms on tv series but to play holi and dance and other things is wrong...

Sorry if i have hurt but just shared the view

U dint hurt me lol its all a matter of point of view. Similarly Gul must have showed something based on her point of view of how she feels their culture should be. Its all related to morals and how much u reside in ur own culture. How much and to what intensity do u believe in your religion. What you think is acceptable and not, may not be to a person of modern thoughts and there isnt anything wrong with that. Its kind of like in hindu culture you can have those individuals who believe so strongly in our religion that dont eat meat, dont drink, dont do anything that they shouldlnt. Then you have those hindus who do have faith in the same Gods in himduism such as me, but i choose to live my life with my moral foot in religious doors, and my realistic peer and social relationships in the door of todays society.

Its like your thoughts are like conservative asads and everyone supporting the holi thing thinks like progressive zoya. Both are right in their own shoes... Its just a matter of point of view.

There is nothing religious in splashing colours or fireworks. When we celebrated Holi and Diwali as kids, we never knew the story behind it. It was never required. (In fact, Hindu mythological stories differs from region to region). Only thing we knew about Diwali as kids were bursting crackers. Why should a Muslim kid be missing this fun, just because he prays to a different God? My kid gets a gift from Santa, though we are Hindus. There is nothing religious about a gift which just brings smile to a kid.

Just saw a segment two days ago where Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhter were hosting Holi party in their house. They apparently have been doing it for years. Both Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhter are muslims. In their house many Hindu and Muslim celebrities were playing Holi together and having so much fun. I even read an article that in UP, Lucknow Hindu and Muslims came together to play Holi. In an age where religious extremism is on the rise everywhere, I applaud Gul and her team for their effort to show religious harmony.

I was reading this interview where Gul said it is difficult for her to get a house in Bombay. Shabana Azmi and Zaved Akhter said the same thing even though they are well known celebrities. Ppl often have these wrong perception about Muslims that they are very intolerant. Through this show if Gul is able to change the mind of even a few, I think she will achieve a lot.

hello! iam new to qh forum. considering this is the post where i can ask religious questions , i have one.
i was wondering if asya marriage happens is there a specific religious rite or custom by which asad can marry zoya without zoya saying qubool hai? is there anything as such by which asad will end up marrying zoya with neither of them saying qubool hai?
you see i get this silly doubt bcoz iam watching too many serials😳 in most of them sometimes a guy puts sindoor on girls head in a dramatic sequence and they both r considered married by everyone!
sorry if this is a rpt query or an annoying one.
