The day that they finally were going to say those two magical word that would bind them together for eternity, two word that would bring two souls into a world that would envelope them in nothing but pure love. The day they say Qubool Hai and honour one another as husband and wife.
Just to be married to Asad was something that was beyond anything Zoya could describe, but what Asad had done for her was really out of this world. Asad had done what only some one so madly, so deeply in love could think of doing. He had arranged to be married to the one girl his whole existence revolved around in front of the worlds biggest symbol of pure love and devotion, the Taj Mahal.
Since their arrival in Agra last night Zoya and Asad were under strict instruction, they were not to come face to face and see each other nor were they allowed to take a sneak peak at the most purest architectural masterpiece before their wedding ceremony.
Making sure they were not cheating in any shape or form Dilshad and Najma kept an extra eye out enjoying their frustration a little too much.
By the time Zoya had showered Dilshad had ordered breakfast 'Phoopi, I really don't think I am going to be able to stomach anything right now...everything feels like it's knotting up' Dilshad smiled at Zoya, she caressed her cheek and pulled her towards the bed 'I know you are nervous...and maybe a little scared, it has taken so much pain, hurt, and anguish to get to where you are today...so it's natural you feel all this anxiety. Zoya Allah has tested you and you and Asad have done nothing but pass through everything, today is your day and nothing will come in between you and my son, not now not ever' Zoya rested her head on Dilshad's shoulder as tears escaped the corner of her eyes.
Across the hall Najma and Imran were having no fun with Asad either, who was walking the length of his room like a caged lion, only he wasn't being ferocious, just stubborn 'bhaijaan, will you please stop, you are making my head spin...sit down and eat' Najma said in frustration 'Tamatar...are you telling me off?' Asad said as he looked directly at her 'huh...me...tell you off...of course not...I mean I was just saying...you know...eat something' Najma could hardly string her sentence together, as she spoke to her brother Imran was falling off the bed unable to control his laughter. Najma threw daggers with her eyes trying to get him to stop but there really was no stopping him.
Leaving the two boys on their own Najma went to join Dilshad and Zoya. 'Ammi, the beautician will be here in fifteen minutes, we have to be ready to leave by one the very latest, the Maulana has asked for the Nikaah to take place straight after Salat-ul-Zuhur.
Najma, Dilshad and Zoya all started to get ready as did Asad, it wasn't long before it was time to perform their afternoon prayer. Zoya sat on her prayer mat for the last time as a single girl, and raised her hands and prayed to Allah to protect and guide her, to help her in her new life, to bless her and Asad with the happiness they deserved and to give them success in life. Zoya stood up and brushed away a silent tear as she went and picked up the last thing, the only thing she had that joined her to the memories of her father 'Abu, I don't know where you are...I wish you were here to give me your blessings to give me your name' Dilshad placed her hand over her shoulder 'Zoya, I know how hard it must be for you, I wish your Abu was here too...if not today then tomorrow... we will find him Zoya, and as for your name...I give you mine, you are the daughter of Dilshad Ahmed Khan' Zoya looked at Dilshad not believing what she had just said 'Phoopi...I' unable to complete her sentence Zoya crashed into Dilshad's hold 'no more tears Zoya, you get ready, we will be waiting downstairs'
Asad was brought out by Najma and Imran, whilst Dilshad held on to a very nervous Zoya and took her outside. With their eyes shut tight they were led to stand in front of the most breath taking view. 'Ok, on three you can open your eyes...but no cheating you can't look at each other' Najma said 'ready...one...two...three'. Asad and Zoya stood side by side and opened their eyes to see a true wonder of the world, a symbol of love that didn't matter how many centuries old it was, it stood in front of them true to the love they had for each other. They stood there in silence in awe of what they saw, as to them it was nothing but a reflection of what they felt.
Holding a veil between them Asad and Zoya were asked to take their seats, the Maulana initiated the Nikah, as he started to speak Zoya and Asad both held their breaths, their hearts started to skip several beats together 'Asad Ahmed Khan, son of Rashid Ahmed Khan do you accept this Nikah with Zoya Farooqui, daughter of Dilshad Ahmed Khan? Kya aap ko Qubool Hai?' Slowly letting out the breath he held Asad took in another deep breath before he spoke 'Qabool Hai' As Zoya heard his voice she felt as if she had started to float, her stomach fluttered like never before and the smile she adorned was priceless.
'Zoya Farooqui, daughter of Dilshad Ahmed Khan do you accept this Nikah with Asad Ahmed Khan, son of Rashid Ahmed Khan? Kya aap ko Qubool Hai?' Zoya sucked in a breath, she entwined her fingers with Dilshad's who gave her hand a reassuring squeeze, Asad waited patiently to hear her voice to her her say that she accepted this Nikah, and then it came, a voice that couldn't have sounded more heavenly 'Qubool Hai'. As soon as those words parted her lips everyone around broke out in cheers, they stood up and hugged and congratulated one another.
Asad and Zoya were made to stand and as the did the veil that parted them was taken away 'Zoya, Asad you can see each other now' Dilshad said, her happiness knew no bounds, her son was finally married and that too to Zoya, the girl he loved more than life itself.
Asad and Zoya braced themselves as they slowly raised their gazes to meet each other's. As their eyes met so did their hearts as the started beating in sync with one another. Keeping his eyes on the most stunning girl he had ever seen, the most beautiful wife anyone could ever have had stepped closer and closer, until only a thin lining of air could pass through them.
For the first time Zoya and Asad stood in silence, they didn't need to speak, their eyes spoke a thousand words, every emotion, every feeling every heart beat was conveyed through their beautiful eyes. Asad extended his hands and took hers into his, raising them up he placed a soft kiss on the back of her fingers 'we made it, we truly did' 'yes we did Mr Khan...and nothing could have been more perfect'.
Pulling her close to him Asad wrapped his arms around his wife and kissed the top of her head, they stood in each others warm hold as they turned to look back at the temple of love that brought them together, that was witness to them finally becoming one.
