I did quote an eg. of a rapist forgiven in the main post..everyone does not have the gift of forgiveness...and most def even those who have do not have it in the same measure.

Oops I'm sorry : had no idea such dictionary exists : "forgiveness & repentance " . If only I attended church regularly
Anyway thanks for the heads up . It's not to late to instill the right values in my children .
Repenting wholeheartedly= forgiveness
Son to rape a woman : cheat on your wife : abandon your wife and children :keep two wives under the same roof : snatch your children's happiness at anytime : is ok : all you have to do is repent wholeheartedly and you'll be forgiven : now go face this very forgiving world . Life is now a bed of roses , ignore the thorns .
Daughter you have to forgive the man who rapes you : the husband who cheats on you , walks out on you , abandon your children , have you share a bed with him and another woman : once he repents wholeheartedly ...: Your dignity is no longer of any importance . Now you teach your children these values and tell them they should never expect anything from parents they are only responsible for their birth , that's it . .. because they should only live for their own happiness . We can't be selfish towards them .
Now do I have all the major topics .
Do tell , I don't want to mess up again !!

Vash,

If you are a Christian, and pray the Lord's prayer...which I hope you don't consider as 'nonsense'...

Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

"To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you."
C.S. Lewis

How will we know if we have truly forgiven?

Lewis B. Smedes wrote in his book, Forgive and Forget, "When you release the wrongdoer from the wrong, you cut a malignant tumor out of your inner life. You set a prisoner free, but you discover that the real prisoner was yourself."

"Forgiveness has nothing to do with absolving a criminal of his crime. It has everything to do with relieving oneself of the burden of being a victim--letting go of the pain and transforming oneself from victim to survivor."
C.R. Strahan
"The willingness to forgive is a sign of spiritual and emotional maturity. It is one of the great virtues to which we all should aspire. Imagine a world filled with individuals willing both to apologize and to accept an apology. Is there any problem that could not be solved among people who possessed the humility and largeness of spirit and soul to do either -- or both -- when needed?"
Gordon B. Hinckley, Standing for Something: 10 Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes

    Mark 11:25
And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Isaiah 1:18

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool

"There is no such thing as a "broken family." Family is family, and is not determined by marriage certificates, divorce papers, and adoption documents. Families are made in the heart. The only time family becomes null is when those ties in the heart are cut. If you cut those ties, those people are not your family. If you make those ties, those people are your family. And if you hate those ties, those people will still be your family because whatever you hate will always be with you."
C. JoyBell C.

"Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies."
Nelson Mandela

"Listen. Slide the weight from your shoulders and move forward. You are afraid you might forget, but you never will. You will forgive and remember."
Barbara Kingsolver, The Poisonwood Bible

We don't forgive people because they deserve it. We forgive them because they need it--because we need it."
Bree Despain, The Dark Divine

"I have always found that mercy bears richer fruits than strict justice."
Abraham Lincoln

Will There Be Rapists In Heaven?

Author: Roger Barrier

Dear Roger,

How can God forgive some one who kills people or rapes our children, a person who sins their whole lives [sic], and then accepts the Lord before their death bed?

Anonymous

Dear Anonymous

Allowing last-second conversions to open the door to Heaven for rapists and murderers doesn't see fair"and is not fair. However, the Kingdom of God is not based on fairness. The Kingdom is based on Grace and Mercy. Grace is when God gives people what they don't deserve. Mercy is when God doesn't give people what they do deserve. Grace and Mercy are able to operate because of Christ's work on the cross to forgive everyone's sin, not just the sins of the "good people".

Grace to rapists and murderers means that they are given Heaven when they don't deserve it. Mercy to them means that they don't get Hell when they do deserve it. When murderers and rapists receive Christ on their death beds and are given grace and mercy instead of judgment and Hell we see just how powerful is Christ's death on the cross and how long are the arms of grace and mercy!

By the way, from God's perspective of perfection, even the people who don't murder and rape are no more deserving of Heaven than those who do! Paul declared in Romans 3:22-24: "There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. He went on to declare in Romans 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The real question, then, is not so much, "How can God let into Heaven rapists and murderers who surrender to Christ on their death beds?" The real question is "How can God allow any sinner into His perfect Heaven?" Even one of our sins would defile the place! Jesus' mercy and grace are so powerful that they cover every sin with forgiveness. As we enter into Heaven Jesus places on us white robes of purity which allow us to live in Heaven"all sins forgiven"without defiling and ruining the place!

By the way, few of us would doubt that not only was the Apostle Paul one of the greatest Christians ever, he is certainly now in Heaven. But, consider the fact that he was a killer and murderer, too. Paul revealed in Acts 22:4: "I persecuted the followers of this Way to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison." Again he revealed in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10: "For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am." Jesus extended His grace and mercy to Paul"even after he killed men, (and apparently) women and children as well.

Paul brought this whole issue into focus by declaring in 1 Timothy 1:15: "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"of whom I am the worst."

Well, Anonymous, I hope my answer gives you some insight into the tremendous, far-reaching and forgiving power of God's grace and mercy.

Love, Roger

PS. While the ground at the foot of the cross is level, Hell has multiple levels. Peter identifies the lowest level as "tartarus". This is the "hottest" level and is reserved for the demons who rebelled with Satan and were cast out of Heaven. Adolf Hitler is in a hotter level than a "nice" person who dies having their sin unforgiven.

PPS. Did you know that God never created Hell for sinners to go there. It was created for the fallen angels (demons). Unfortunately, after Adam and Eve ushered sin into the world, Isaiah tells us that God had to enlarge Hell for all the sinners who were choosing to go there.

Gul - I'd not compare her to Ekta- because her men do not happily go aroung marrying and divorcing- definitely more stable characters...

And when U R seeing a daily show, the only shows that have the linear logic are DABH and BV...both become boring after some time...I don't follow either closely, though I admire them for the consistency.

Why is it that only moments from Gul's shows can be watched repeatedly? Geet, IPK, QH- they all have classic moments. And for me, she has grown with every show...with QH, she has shown she can excel in every other aspect other than romance also..I simply don't expect the same consistent quality after 9 months BECAUSE THAT IS WHEN SHOWS THAT ARE DEMANDING ON THE CREATIVE AND ACTING TEAM LIKE QH...NEED TO TAKE A BREAK...it is simply that for me. They need to take a break..they won't ...because that format is not accepted in India yet...with shows like 24 that should change. And I am waiting for the day Gul does something in that format, because I know she will rock.

Yes people only want to work...the problem with Gul is that she is not confined to teh creative team...when QH started she wanted to be only the director...but that changed when I guess they found she was the best person to take care of the production details- and that si a huge headache to handle. Things don't work like clockwork...added to thatteh fact that the team aspires for perfection..I bet they are the ones who take the maximum retakes...ends up with little time for smooth editing ...and since the creatives are working towards a deadline all the time, they get tired tooo..I will not say Gul is perfect...she is not, as I am not...I simply admire her for sticking up for her team all the time...that is why people like Mohit and Sanaya and KSG enjoy working with her...and SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS. That is because her writing is still brilliant...in bits, as you put it...that is all I expect with the break- less routine they all go through. And I call it brilliant, because QH si still teh only show I can consistently watch, and I don't watch it only for AsYa...the mother- son scene, and the sisters bonding that U and I appreciate.

Gul undermines the storyteller in her..Novel writers take months or years with breaks to complete their project...Movies take months for 2 hours they put up on teh screen...and QH IS EXCEPTIONAL and GUL'S TEAM is exceptional in that they give us a similar quality at the rate of 1 hour per week👏...no mean job.I can never stop admiring not just gul, but the ENTIRE TEAM FOR THIS!👏👏 👏

It is easy to sit back and criticise.😳 which I do too..😉

Ekta is no storyteller now...at least for me...she has churned out gems like Ghar ek Mandir...which i religiously followed..now she just churns stuff out...

And in no way undermining the efforts as a team they put in...I don't feel emotionally attached to Gul...if I don't like her work, I will say it out loud and I will say it again and again...everytime I feel the need to...it's easy to both praise and criticize...I do not get paid for doing either...

As I said..there are moments of brilliance...but there are gaping holes...hope she closes them...but if I don't like something I will say it..similarly when I like it...I never refrain from appreciating it...

Gul is not my loved one...had she been..I would have been more ruthless in my criticism

and just so u know...BV is an awesomely well told story...getting it right 9 times out of 10...and there is only one track which let the audience down...that was of making Jagdish revengeful..and they managed to redeem him without butchering anyone else...there is a reason these shows bounce back after hitting low TRPs too

Forgiving My Rapist

06/08/2013 by guest 1 Comment

[Guest Post by Amanda Espinoza - I can't say thanks enough to those who are willing to share about something so deeply personal and painful. I want to personally thank Laura, the first person to share her story of rape on my blog. You can read her story here. Also, my friend Carla who shared her story of rape, and you can read her story here. If any of you are struggling on this topic I encourage you to reach out and get help. Jesus cares and He wants to help you process this painful event.]

It is easy to forgive someone when they sincerely apologize and ask for that forgiveness.

But what do you do when the person who has wronged you isn't asking for forgiveness? That is a question I have had to battle with multiple times for one single event.

At the age of 18, I was a rebellious teenager who thought I knew right from wrong. I had been a "straight A" student through high school and stayed on the straight and narrow path.

October 31, 2003 is a night I will never forget.

It was a supposed to be a night of fun and costumes.

Instead I was left stripped of my virginity and left to pick up the pieces.

I didn't speak about it to anyone for more than a month. But when I did, that is when the real pain soaked in.

I praise God I had a family who knew how to support me. My grandmother offered to pay for a counseling session with a woman I don't remember, but her words of Godly wisdom are forever imprinted in my mind.

I went through four sessions with her.

I truly wanted to be there; I needed to hear her; I needed to find healing in my soul. I had no control over my emotions, I felt violated, confused, and rejected. How could God allow one of his own children to go through this pain?

She helped me see that the focus should not be on questioning God, but to allow Him to mend my broken heart and soul.

She told me to forgive him.

It was as if that would be the simplest thing to do. Forgiving my rapist was far from easy. How could I forgive someone who wasn't even sorry? He took the only thing that I didn't want to lose.

And now I am supposed to just forgive him?

The counselor told me that should I chose not to forgive him, which I did have that choice, I would be harboring resentment and anger in my heart. That it would eventually consume me! I was already forever changed from an innocent teenager to a broken woman, but if I chose not to forgive then my heart would begin to turn into darkness.

Growing up in the Christian faith, I knew how important it was to forgive others.

So I listened to her very intently. What she gave me was the gift of understanding that there is always a bigger picture. God will always use me for His glory, as long as I let Him.

Like clockwork, that event crossed into my path every few years as my life changed and grew. I came to different levels of maturity and new ways of understanding. Every time I remembered the pain I had to forgive-again.

Now, I am preparing to get married.

Currently I find myself wondering if this event will affect my marriage and if it will affect my future children. But these questions do not need to be asked. All God asks of me is to forgive that man again, and lean on my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He has asked me to be open and honest on my path of life.

He has given me the strength to share my story with every woman and young adult I meet.

I don't know how my story has impacted other lives, but I know God will use me for His glory.

See, sometimes I think we try to figure life out. We try to find the big picture. But all God asked of me, was to forgive that man of his wrongdoing.

"Forgive [him] father, [he] knows not what he did" (Luke 23:34).

Ultimately, we must trust God enough to lean on Him so He can guide our next steps.

Vash,

It is not that forgiving a rapist means we give license for more such acts...I feel we should do what should be done legally, but only the person who has been raped...physically...or EMOTIONALLY (frankliy, this is a crime that goes unnoticed...and si very very rampant...emotional raping is as bad as physical..)..has the power to heal themselves...

Which is what Dilshad has done...she has accepted him back, because she knows he will not repeat the mistakes...

And what Zoya urges Asad to do, FOR HIS OWN HEALING.

Shruti,

DABH was amazing with teh PSC interview...it was just perfect..and so simply done for all kinds of audience...I will vouch for teh fact that these two shows deserve the trps they get.👏👏👏

But neither of them have a repeat watch value.😳 So Gul should choose between perfectionism in some shots or overall consistency...if she chooses the latter, she has assured success...unfortunately, she likes to experiment...😳😆

How does me watching QH 10 times matter😆...there are some viewers who don't even watch it once now...none of the shows except Hollywood sitcoms have repeat value anyways...I love criminal minds and dexter but I can't watch them again and again...they belong to a different genre..I can watch Friends 10 times...Sarabhai vs Sarabhai have already seen 7 full reruns...

She liking to experiment and being a risk taker does not elevate her in my eyes...if she sticks to her story with conviction it's more than enough...despite resorting to shoddy and illogical writing QH was the 2nd best show...now it's out of the top 10

Shruti,

Check the raped woman's response to her rapist I posted above...

I am not saying that a case should not be registered or the perpetrator does not deserve to be hanged...I am not that forgiving...but I have seen people who have forgiven years of infidelity...that changed their husbands into better human beings...just the persistence of women who never stopped loving...and I admire such people...if U ask if that is possible by me- may be not..but that does not mean I am better than people who do.😳

So if she si only after the trps...SHE SHOULD GO BY A FORMULA..evidently, she is not...she is doing it her own way...and she is not doing that to earn anyone's respect...it is her creative freedom..and we can accept it eor reject it...but she has all the right to pursue what she wants to...and U have absolutely all th right to bash her- for disappointing you.
