Notes
A special note to take of in Qubool Hai with regard to storyline is the calendar date of the year with attention to Islamic beliefs & festivals. There is much to learn from the date as the CVs tend to symbolically introduce major plot lines with parallels to the Islamic festivals chronologically.
The Islamic festival of Eid-Al-Adha is coming up this October - specifically starting on the 14th and ending on the 15th - and if you examine the meaning of the festival, it becomes quite apparent how the CVs are connecting the plot to the calendar date & festival chronologically. And beforehand as well - with August's Eid-Al-Fitr - That also gave a lot to the storyline.
Religious Context
Eid-Al-Adha means the Feast of Sacrifice. Muslims celebrate this Eid to give honor to Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in common terminology)'s willingness to sacrifice his very own son Ishmael to obey God's orders. Ishmael, however, did not get sacrificed in the very end - God was so pleased with Abraham's willingness to give up his son for him that he provided Ibrahim a lamb to sacrifice instead and letting his son live. (And Muslims in honor of the festival, sacrifice a lamb as one of their traditions on this day).
Eid-Al-Fitr, or the Sugar Feast, was on August 9th and it is to celebrate unity and the end of the Ramadan fast.
Connections - Both Chronological and Symbolical to QH
During Eid-Al-Fitr, on August 9th, it was the time of peace in QH, and unity as well - The CVs brilliantly tied the plot with the meaning of the festival. At the time of the festival, Tanveer was ousted by Asad and was found out. And Asad and Zoya finally confessed in actual terms and were engaged again - AyRa were also on their journey to love starting from that day. And the Eid celebration had both families at one venue for celebration - The ultimate goal of the show is to unite the two warring families, and their unity on August 9th showed the symbolic peace and unity in this Eid. In addition, the finding out of Razia and the rescuing of Badi Bi from Zoya enforced the theme of catharsis which is a key theme during the Islamic celebration of Eid-Al-Fitr. Zoya comes to know that her father is alive and meets him during the festival as well, symbolizing the end goal of the show - unity. And the two warring families' relative stability during the Eid celebration is also evident of unity and catharsis. What is interesting to point out also, is that as Eid-Al-Fitr is the Sugar Feast, the CVs did add the AsYa feeding each other scene - and that adds credence to the unity, love, justice and peacefulness and joy of this occasion on August 9th.
That was the past & the chronological basis for the event - now let's look at the present and the future.
Eid-Al-Adha, or the Sacrifice Feast, is not far away - Mid October. And, now, at the present state of affairs, of course, not all is well, and the theme of the show currently is sacrifice from all characters. And again, why? The CVs show themselves to be brilliantly connecting the fact that the theme of the festival of this current Eid is sacrifice. And the festival as well as the current plotline of QH are clearly paralleled to the Ishmael and Ibrahim tale. They set it up too by foreshadowing - E/MKI has constantly referred to the parallel between Ishmael's story and AsYa's, specifically Zoya's back in July, and I see greater parallels now too!
When Tanveer brought the baby daddy card in to trap Asad, and Asad & Zoya lost hope as they thought it was true, and was ready to leave for NY. As she was passing through the house, do you remember when she heard Dilshad narrating the very tale of Ishmael and Ibrahim's sacrifice to Najma? Dilshad was indirectly telling Zoya about her bravery and comparing her to Ibrahim because she was giving up her love for Asad and letting him take the responsibility of Tanveer's baby. That storm passed - and that sacrifice symbolism by Dilshad is STILL, of course, applicable to the current situation in QH. Everyone is sacrificing. Zoya sacrificed and now others are sacrificing as well.
The CVs are brilliantly streamlining the theme of Sacrifice into the story chronologically just as Eid-Al-Adha, the Sacrifice Feast, is around the corner - The festival & the plot of QH are brilliantly tied together.
Asad's sacrifice can be paralleled to Ibrahim as he took Muqaddar (Fate)'s order (as Ibrahim took God's) and gave up the love of his life for a certain time to secure his sister Nikjhat's marriage and happiness. And thus MaBurt happened. Ayaan gave up Humaira's love for saving Nikhat as well. And if we look at the closer picture, Najma is also sacrificing by being the bahu of a greedy woman like Haseena who is taking her posessions at every opportunity. The theme of sacrifice is currently overarching in QH right now.
And the new Tata Sky Spoiler - Tanveer's new plan to get Asad by Imran's baby daddy drama as well makes the JaaNu engagement unfortunately very viable - Asad may sacrifice his love for Zoya temporarily (though I'm hoping the man has some brains and doesn't let Tanveer blackmail him) and save Najma's marriage. I honestly believe he may get engaged to Tanveer - just because the theme of sacrifice right now is overarching in the show.
However, as the story parallels Ibrahim's, remember that Ishmael is not slaughtered at the final stage, as God is so impressed with the devotion of Ibrahim that he lets Ishmael go.And thus forms my belief that these tracks and storms are trials of sacrifice but culminate in the ending of MaBurt, the reunion of AsYa and AyRa, and the solving of questions on the show.
As the show is following chronology of Islamic festivals, this October will be full of sacrifice as it is Eid-Al-Adha.
But remember, the parallels show temporary strife and not permanent, and as we follow chronology, happy days may not be too far away. Happy days for me mean the dissolution of MaBurt, the Abu track being fulfilled and Zoya finding Ghafoor as her father, Zoya and Humaira bonding, Asad and Rashid bonding, and all the union.
If the show lasts until this August (which hopefully it does), perhaps the TRUE union of the two families will be again repeated on Eid-Al-Fitr by the CVs. Chronologically speaking I mean. And we will have a wonderful Eid then - a true union of two families.
Alright, I just spilled my whole thoughts and really excuse me if I didn't make sense, which I probably didn't. :P
