Very true. Independence and responsibility go hand in hand. Wish that they would show zoya realize the gravity of her actions and admit her mistake.

I have personally gone through a similar incident many years back but fortunately the guy that gave me a lift didn't turn out to be a stalker. Nonetheless, I realized my folly only in retrospect and my behavior still gives me nightmares.

I hope that along with the current social message, they include some bits about being safety conscious. Having said that, I must admit that I am totally in favor of Zoya taking care of this mess herself and not have her knight in shining armor swoop down to save her. It makes me feel proud to see a woman stand up for herself...better late than never.

Word to everything you said👏 I was telling my mom the exact same thing yesterday..its great that they are showing Zoya being brave and giving it right back to the creep but that doesn't really nullify her irresponsible behavior in the past..I hate it when people bring in a feministic perspective or rant about male chauvinism in such a scenario..Its nice to talk about women's rights but people need to be a lil practical for god's sake..Am not saying you should just lock yourself in your room..But your safety is in your hands cos the system in the country is unfortunately pathetic & we have people giving lectures only after the girl's life is ruined..So we first need to take adequate precautions cos at the end of the day we have no Mr.Khan to protect us😆 I hope people don misunderstand what i just said cos am one of those who hate male chauvinists..But its also important to be practical cos the society is unfortunately effed up😆

well said 👍🏼...

One has to takecare of themselves..people in society don't behave in the way we like.we have to behave or take care accordingly.no one can guard you 24/7.the message should be clear.even though zoya accepted the fact that asad was right in suspecting the guy,it late...she behaved foolish in giving them a deaf ear.what if something happened that day?only zoya is responsible..

We know that Zoya didn't have any option and she had to take a ride from that man but she shouldn't even have gone to watch Dhoni in the first place...Asad clearly told her about the strike and even the night before he told Zoya that he's not comfortable with her going by herself..I just wish they would cover the point (in their message) about not being foolish and stupid!!! I just hope that we are shown the other side too that what Zoya did was wrong! Had she listened to Asad, used her brain, she would have never landed in this problem!

Exactly but I don't think they are going to show zoyas behavior as wrong if recent interviews are to be believed :-/

As harini pointed out - this message will do more harm than good.

That's true. There has to be some kind of introspection fm Zoya's side or an acceptance of her stupidity in front of her family members either before or after the slap scene. She has to realise that what she did was something that cd've been totally avoided. She is to blame first for her immaturity.

Till now they have just shown her thinking "Mr. Khan was right abt this guy" and not that "I was wrong in the first place n I shdn't have acted that way" which needs to be shown.

Thanks 😳

If Zoya does do some introspection then I have no issues with the scene but there has to be a vocal admission from zoya that she was wrong.

Had this been real life she would have been raped!

BUT they should in a way also acknowledge that just because the girl was reprimanded, it is not always right in being rebellious about it. Asad has been wrong many times and has been told off for it by the family members and herself, this time Zoya was indeed wrong, but the family has taken it lightly, it would be enough if she just realizes her fault and says it aloud to at least Asad if nothing. Even saying a sorry for not understanding his main intention will be enough.

Aw don't worry about it and thank you 😳

If the point that she was wrong comes across I will be very happy. If Gul is attempting a PSA she needs to get the right message across. As you said it's all very good to say that don't judge someone based on their clothes but its equally important to say just because you are independent doesn't mean your reckless behavior should be approved off.

ok i got u :) ya it was created by Zoya herself that doesnt mean such guy should rape her. they should develop their mentality first. here to show they created the situation like Zoya was forced to take lift but in real people get in more trouble just for a small mistake. thats really not mistake if those rapist respect women. everything is avoidable. people goes for enjoying yet come home getting rape. so isnt it avoidable like if they din go out, they wouldnt be raped

For me it is important that Zoya apologizes and accepts she was a wrong judge of character with Rajveer, if she does that I think the message being given out will be quite a success. Or else like you said it would not make much of a difference.

Zoya did not have network actually to call Asad at all, but her not accepting she was wrong, being way too polite and careless around Rajveer was wrong too. I mean she could have clearly told him off for coming to the Khan mansion twice, in a way she was wrong too, she needs to understand till where she can enjoy her independence.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!

I actually have been really irked and pissed off with the "message" that they are trying to get across with this Rajveer thing and the issue of rape in our society. I'm waiting for tomorrow to make a full on post about this whole thing because I haven't had time to write what I want about it. But when I found out that they were trying to send out a message I got really annoyed (mainly because of the way they were doing it).
I've made a post before about Zoya's immaturity and how being independent has nothing to do with it.It's not about her being raised in New York and being independent, it's about safety especially at that time. I've been born and raised in the U.S my whole life, and lived on my own, but if I knew there were strikes going on and a certain situation wasn't safe outside, I wouldn't go. Regardless of that, I don't go alone somewhere if it's late at night (if I'm walking and don't have a car). There have been plenty of times when I've been at a friend's and it gets late, and they don't let me walk back to my apartment alone or take the metro train alone at night. Going out, we always go in groups. Even when I do have a car, if it's super late and I'm leaving a place, even if it's my cousins house, my cousin or anyone else will usually walk me out and make sure I get to my car okay. When I used to work, and we would leave super late some days (like a.m. time, everyone made sure to park in the same lot and walk out together, and if one person was parked elsewhere we would ride them to their car). Anything can happen to you anywhere, and like you said it's about ensuring your own safety. No where is really safe to be honest, and there are a lot of sick people out there. There are always going to be sick people out there, and I'm sorry but unfortunately with the way the world is out there, it is not safe for a woman to go out alone at night like that, and even more take a ride from a complete stranger in a stranded area. Be smart about the decisions you make. Zoya was the one who needed to be taught the lesson here.

Exactly this!! 👏

I lived in Europe for a couple of years and even there I ensured I was never anywhere alone (especially at night!). You are absolutely right - zoya was the one who needed to be taught a lesson.

Glad things worked out for you 😊

I have no issues with Zoe resolving this on her own but she should never have been in this position in the first place.
