I very rarely judge a scene without watching it, however recent interviews and the precap for today's episode is prompting me to write this. It is admirable that Gul, Mrinal and co wanted to deliver a social message about the increasing number of rapes in our country. However, I believe while you have got part of the message right you have completely discounted a woman's responsibility for herself. And by this I mean Zoya's sheer stupidity in running off to see a celebrity who doesn't know or care about her, during a strike. It was incredibly immature. Let us even look past that - nothing stopped Zoya from calling her Mr. Khan before her battery died - requesting he pick her up, now did it? Zoya put herself in a situation where she was forced to ask a stranger to drop her home - a completely avoidable situation. Zoya was lucky she wasn't raped! Then you have her being totally oblivious to her own stupidity by excusing Rajveer's behavior and completely twisting Asad's concern towards her. Now, don't get me wrong, as a young woman I go out a lot too - whether it's out for a drink or a party - I do these things too, but that doesn't mean I don't make sure that I have a safe and reliable way to come home every time. We are all responsible for our own safety. All of us don't have a lover/husband running to come and save us every time we are in a sticky situation. Part of being an adult is about knowing the difference between being independent and being reckless. And Zoya was reckless. The complete message would have been you pointing out that NO definitely means NO and that you need learn to be responsible. With independence comes the need of being able to assess situations and priorities. Zoya showed a complete lack of understanding there. You definitely needed/need a scene where Zoya acknowledges how wrong her behavior was/is and understand that there could have been very severe consequences to it. No woman deserves to be raped but in our depraved society it is a reality - the judicial system and society doesn't sympathize with victims as evidenced by the juvenile being sentenced to a remand home for his heinous crime. So, we as women can at least ensure our own safety in whatever way we can. I don't mean stay at home. Go out, party, watch a movie whatever but always make sure you have a safe and secure way to come home. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I agree with everything you said. Except one tidbit... She couldn't call him because there was no network haha. But other that I agree. Her immaturity was on display with her stunt of seeing Dhoni alone, on the day of a strike.

She could have called him and let him know that she was going - when she was on a bus anytime. He would have come and picked her up at least.

Zoya needed a spanking!

I feel you girl! I know what you mean! I know that we have to wait for the episode to come to any conclusion but if the message is just about Zoya being hit on because she wore jeans, I am disappointed! We know that Zoya didn't have any option and she had to take a ride from that man but she shouldn't even have gone to watch Dhoni in the first place...Asad clearly told her about the strike and even the night before he told Zoya that he's not comfortable with her going by herself..I just wish they would cover the point (in their message) about not being foolish and stupid!!! I just hope that we are shown the other side too that what Zoya did was wrong! Had she listened to Asad, used her brain, she would have never landed in this problem!

Very good post Del 👏.

That's true. There has to be some kind of introspection fm Zoya's side or an acceptance of her stupidity in front of her family members either before or after the slap scene. She has to realise that what she did was something that cd've been totally avoided. She is to blame first for her immaturity.

Till now they have just shown her thinking "Mr. Khan was right abt this guy" and not that "I was wrong in the first place n I shdn't have acted that way" which needs to be shown.

Can't somehow like the main post error showing up BUT DOUBLE LIKE 😆 I agree, Its nice that they have given a message out that girls should not be judged, and its okay for them to ask for help, which does not mean they're asking for any sort of attention. BUT they should in a way also acknowledge that just because the girl was reprimanded, it is not always right in being rebellious about it. Asad has been wrong many times and has been told off for it by the family members and herself, this time Zoya was indeed wrong, but the family has taken it lightly, it would be enough if she just realizes her fault and says it aloud to at least Asad if nothing. Even saying a sorry for not understanding his main intention will be enough.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!
I actually have been really irked and pissed off with the "message" that they are trying to get across with this Rajveer thing and the issue of rape in our society. I'm waiting for tomorrow to make a full on post about this whole thing because I haven't had time to write what I want about it. But when I found out that they were trying to send out a message I got really annoyed (mainly because of the way they were doing it).
I've made a post before about Zoya's immaturity and how being independent has nothing to do with it. It's not about her being raised in New York and being independent, it's about safety especially at that time. I've been born and raised in the U.S my whole life, and lived on my own, but if I knew there were strikes going on and a certain situation wasn't safe outside, I wouldn't go. Regardless of that, I don't go alone somewhere if it's late at night (if I'm walking and don't have a car). There have been plenty of times when I've been at a friend's and it gets late, and they don't let me walk back to my apartment alone or take the metro train alone at night. Going out, we always go in groups. Even when I do have a car, if it's super late and I'm leaving a place, even if it's my cousins house, my cousin or anyone else will usually walk me out and make sure I get to my car okay. When I used to work, and we would leave super late some days (like a.m. time, everyone made sure to park in the same lot and walk out together, and if one person was parked elsewhere we would ride them to their car). Anything can happen to you anywhere, and like you said it's about ensuring your own safety. No where is really safe to be honest, and there are a lot of sick people out there. There are always going to be sick people out there, and I'm sorry but unfortunately with the way the world is out there, it is not safe for a woman to go out alone at night like that, and even more take a ride from a complete stranger in a stranded area. Be smart about the decisions you make. Zoya was the one who needed to be taught the lesson here.
