His small form sat on a bench of the garden, now lonely and dark. The other kids had all long gone home, after an evening of playing... and Bullying.
Sniffles echoed around, in the twilight.
Tears streaked chubby round cheeks, full of pink.
Eyes were filled with the salt of hurt.
His shoulders were slumped in defeat.
Little legs hung from the seat, halfway, waiting to meet the ground.
His trembling fingers rose to touch the bruise forming on his stomach. He had been kicked and spit on by the rest of the kids.
Why?
Because his father had left his family.
He loved his father very much. But this was unbelievable. It wasn't even a week since the man, he looked up to ever since he opened his eyes to this world, had walked out on his mother, him and his unborn brother.
A sob escaped his lips, but he instantly looked up and around to see if anyone had heard him. There was nobody.
He groaned. He was afraid. Afraid to see how his Mother would react. She would scold him, of course.
"His daddy left him."
"Do you know why his daddy left him?"
"Oh, it's because he is so weird! Look at him!"
"He is so fat, and dirty!"
"So stupid and dumb! Nobody will love him, of course!"
At that last statement, he had lunged at the kid and pushed him with all his might. The kid stumbled back very hard, hitting the ground. The growls could be heard as soon as he hit the ground.
And the next minute, he felt himself pressured from all sides and kicked and spit, and punched every second, whooshing out the air from his lungs.
He had gotten into a fight.
"Ammi..." he whispered, as another pain shot through him when he attempted to move.
"Why are you crying?"
The voice startled him very much. He looked around and saw no one. Ultimately fear crept into his sides, reminding him of the horror movies he had recently watched. All kinds of scenarios played in his head. The way the killer would lure him into a secluded place and kill him with one swipe or more.
But he stayed rooted to his spot, even as his chest tightened.
"Asad?"
He looked behind him, and was immediately blinded by the luminous human. Huh? How could a person be so bright?
Shading his eyes from the strong light.
"Who are you?" he croaked.
The girl... yes, a girl, chuckled sweetly at him, before saying, "Weren't you just afraid of me?"
Asad's boy personality instantly came up, and he said, "I am not scared of anything." And turned to hop off the bench.
"Don't," he heard the girl say and turned to see her, with his body turned in a weird position.
"What?"
"Don't get down. I would like to talk to you," the girl slowly made her way to the bench and was about to sit down. She paused to see Asad scooting away from her as far as possible. "What happened?" she asked with a smile.
Asad didn't answer and instead turned away from her to see the sky darkening.
"Aren't you going home? It is late?" the girl's voice floated.
Asad's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Who was she and why was she asking him if he would go home or not? But more than that, how did she know his name?
"How do you know my name?" His head cocked to one side, as he looked at the girl's unusual coloured eyes. They were the darkest black he had ever seen. Well, if that even made sense. But she had the blackest eyes ever.
A snap of a finger brought him back from his thoughts. "What?"
"What were you thinking?" she asked with a slight tilt to her head on one side.
"I asked you first!"
"And I asked you second!" the girl countered with a giggle.
"Well, then answer me and I will answer you," Asad reasoned like the way his father used to do with his business deals.
His face fell as it all came back to him. He was ashamed of himself. Maybe his father never loved him. A lump formed in his small throat, as he fought back the tears. No. He would not cry. And that too Never in front of a girl. A girl, who was bathed in... Light.
"What are you?" Asad attempted again, with a wary glance at her.
"The question is who are you, and my name is.."
