Ah! The dreaded question. I guess I have to start at the beginning. When I first became a viewbie, I was barely a teenage high school kid who had nothing better to do with most of her evenings! I already spent a lot of time on this site and when they came out with this new position 'viewbie', I think my young self jumped in excitement to get the special tag 😆 But then I took a long hiatus and a VM status for a bit. And when I came back and started being active, all my friends were in DT and I somehow got pulled right back into it. And I guess I keep doing it cuz of my co-DT and the amazing friends I have made there. Also because I know that I will most probably disappear from the site as soon as I give up the DT. So yea, it's the people that I keep doing it for 😆 And it's a nice break between studying, etc.

As humans, no one is bias free. So how do you deal with your bias when dealing with a forum you are keeping an eye on ?? And what would you like to tell those who abuse their power and show blatant discrimination ??
I think the first thing is to accept and know about your biases and how you feel about issues. If you accept the bias, then you can easily put it aside in any decision you take! This is what I do!!! I am always aware of the decision I want to take due to any biases I may have and the decision I should take if I want to be fair :) And then I am guilt free and don't care if anyone calls me biased because I know I took the right decision and cannot please everyone 😊
I haven't actually noticed any abuse of power recently, but if it is true, I would just tell them to think more calmly and thoroughly before taking any decisions! 😊

3) What do you Mods gossip about in IF's private section for higher ups ?? Any member who is always the topic of discussion ??

😆 It's actually quite a boring place full of DTs asking their co-DTs opinions on various issues and reports, giving views on issues, etc. Sometimes there is harmless chatting and banter very similar to any other forum, but for the majority of the time it's just a place for dealing with forum issues :/

4) I keep reading the statement by Vijay where he keeps mentioning "fans sentiment should be kept in mind before posting anything" Personally I feel that is a biased statement keeping only one party in mind. So my question is what about the sentiments of the non-fans whose get offended by such restriction ??

I agree. I think everyone should have equal right to share their opinions (as long as it is done in an agreeable fashion). I, personally, try to make sure everyone gets a voice in my forums, and that is about all I can do 😊

5) Do you feel Mods should be paid, if yes what should be the criteria keeping in mind of those who do their job efficiently with very little bias and those who fall in the opposite category.

I think it would not be logistically possible to have paid mods! Different forums have different workloads and then some experienced DT can solve issues quicker and more efficiently, etc. It would be very hard to make a fair pay rate! Also, there would be a lot more expectations in regards to time on the forum, etc. that numerous of us would not be able to complete! I know I wouldn't stick around if I was paid, because then I wouldn't be able to have the freedom of taking the odd day for an exam, etc.That being said, I think the forum does need a few paid admins and GMs. This would make the entire DT run more smoothly because a lot of times issues are left pending due to needing a response from upper DT! And with paid Upper DT, they would be around more as it's their job!

6) My pet peeve on IF is members throwing personal remarks on others. I believe such members should be awarded with WL hike right away. I feel when people run outta points to defend themselves, they rely on personal remarks and attacks. What do you feel about that ??

I definitely agree that the degree of personal attacks on the forum has gotten to an all time high and needs to be dealt with. However, the sad fact remains that not everything is caught by the DT (due to time issues and the fact that there aren't enough of us to go around), and also the fact that it's hard to have so many people make a uniform decision when they see something 🤔

7) Another thing which I find it funny is people crying foul when members with similar view points expressing themselves in a thread is called "ganging up" when these are different individuals with similar opinions. What is your take on it and do you think it is their weakness or a defense to call out others in this manner.

Well, it depends on the situation. If a member is PMing all his/her friends to come and support him/her on a thread, then it could be considered ganging up. However, if it is just members of the forum who end up having the same opinion, then no, it is not fair for anyone to cry foul! However, the bigger issue is that no one is okay with the 'agree to disagree' policy and the fights keep stretching to the point that friends do come to try to support one or the other. This is probably the root cause of the vast majority of fan wars or forum wars we currently see!

7) Which forum other than DM do you like ? Currently JDJ6. Or QH!
8) Which field have you chosen for your career ?? And why ?? Medicine! Because I love bio and didn't want a totally research based career. I wanted a mix of being able to do hard science and work with/help people at the same time!
9) Your favorite books: I don't know if I have a favorite. It depends on the mood I am in!
10) Favorite holiday destinations: From places I have been, Miami! From places I want to go to, Greece or Italy! 😆
11) Things which you look for in a guy. Wit, Intellect, confidence (without being overconfidence), humor, overall niceness!
12) What is your take on Gender roles ? They are overrated! 😆 I think there should be more equality in the society!
13) What is your take on Suicide and people calling it an action of cowardice ? I think it is totally preventable if the right signs are recognized by the right people. It is quite sad to lose a life, no matter how it happens! And I don't think of it as an act of cowardice or 'taking the easy way out'. On the contrary, I think it is possibly one of the hardest decision to take! Aren't there stats that most suicidal people actually don't do it on a whim?! Imagine making such a decision (or even having to consider it).
14) Do you like animated movies. If yes, which ones and why ? Yes!!! I love Disney, Pixar Movies! There are so many that I absolutely love - the classic ones, newer ones like Up, Despicable Me, the Shrek series, etc! I sometimes think I am an overgrown child 😆
15) Take any 10 members and tag them with Disney/Pixar/any animated characters.
16) Tomboy or a girly girl or both ?

Mixture of both leaning more towards girly girl!
17) 5 things that annoy you about Indian culture ?

The double standards - different rules for guys vs girls.

The fact that all your relatives are constantly all in your business :/

How those younger cannot have an opinion or say into any issue because the older one is 'wiser' or knows more!

The way the culture treats girls - like all they are worth is being a Mrs.

Views about rape - how it is always the girls fault, etc.

The need to preach to others and convert them to your school of thought

Intolerance towards other religions/schools of thought

How the teachings are so open to interpretation and lead to so many agendas being born :/

Nope! 😆 If it happens (which I highly doubt since I don't interact with barely any guys), I'll let ya know 😆

- Would you describe yourself modern, traditional or both and in what sense: Both. I think I have a mix of both values and thoughts!
- Do you believe in the concept of "one night stand" (Pros and Cons): I live and let live! 😆 I don't think it is necessarily wrong or immoral, and is probably a good method of releasing tension (as long as it is done safely). However, that does not mean I personally seek it! However, I do not judge those that do 😃
- Democracy or Dictatorship: Democracy, no matter how flawed is usually better!
- Criticize your country for it's weaknesses or hide behind patriotism and "Mera Bharat Mahan" mentality. And if former, have you ever spoken out loud about it ?? I would say blind patriotism [or blind anything for that matter 😆] is never good and can lead to the demise of the nation. We need to ask questions and challenge things that pre-exist, and only then can be improve upon them and succeed! I don't hide my views if it comes up in discussion, but can't say I have actively gone and criticized either :/
