CHAPTER 2
Asad was sitting in his room alone, as he had always been. Flying at the alacrity of light, thought were spinning in his head. He himself was unsure of his earlier actions. He had turned Zoya, his Zoya out of the house.
He was confused, about his feelings for that girl, his unexplained rage and everything else. It felt like he had been hit by a mental catastrophe whose intensity only he could comprehend. He knew somewhere at the back of his mind that Zoya, out of all people, could never imagine hurting someone, leave alone slaughtering an innocent girl. Yet he had chosen not to believe her, perhaps in anger, since those despicable people had raised fingers at his mother's character. But Zoya never meant for all this to happen.
He felt guilty, he was mad at himself for having treated Zoya so awfully in a fit of rage. She had been only trying to lend a hand. And now that she was gone, Asad felt sore at heart, as if someone had taken away a part of hm. He closed his eyes and remembered her.
Her sole presence used to light up his world. Her dimpled smile, the way she said his name and her beautiful eyes overwhelmed him. He opened his eyes and reality flooded back. A tear escaped his eye. He regretted those silent moments between them, when none of them spoke. A thousand lives would be concentrated in that moment.Although it had felt beautiful, so many things had been left unsaid.
While screaming at her furiously, he thought it felt right but that right was wrong. Now he was caught in hi ire's storm.
His phone rang."Zoya Farooqui" the caller ID flashed. His immediate thought was to accept the call and apologizefor being such a dumbass. But what would he tell her? To forget him since she deserved much more joy in life, something he could never give her, even if he wanted to? He didn't have the courage to speak to her after all that he had done to her, he could not bring himself to pick up the phone. He rejected the call and threw the phone to the wall.he felt disgusted by his own self.
After a time, that seemed like ages to him, he got up and dressed himself to go to office.
He felt awful and hurt but it was something he was used to. He knew what it took to move on and how it felt to lie to himself. However, he wished he could trade this life for something new.
Picking up the pieces now where to begin because the hardest part of ending is starting again.
