I'm really wondering as to why Asad always thinks that he can't keep Zoe happy.

He should be confident that its himself who can keep Zoe very happy.

He can love Zoe wholeheartedly and keep her happy forever <3

Unfortunatly, from the beginning of the show he has been under the impresion that we will be just like his father. I just hope he realizes he is nothing like Rashid and that he can make Zoya happy.

I guess maybe because love for him was what his parents shared
and seeing them split like that would have been painful and also must have made him believe that he would also hurt the ones he loves and this belief is so deeply rooted in him that its hard for him to overcome

I actually think this angle of asad's is BRILLIANT. Hats off to Gul for bringing so much DEPTH to Asad's character. As a psych major i see it in him that he fears being his father.. he tells himself that his father is nothing for him but his father gave him the biggest deception as a child. He grew up seeing two people to immensely in love.. BREAK APART.. his father being the hand in that. He can never forgive Rashid for that.. but at same time he is reminded that he is his father's son at the end of the day. What if he ever were to fall in love and do the same thing to the girl he loves?

His fears are so genuine and legitimate and so REAL -LIFE like. I admire Gul for portraying it.

Eventually Asad will realize he is not his father. His father and himself are two different individuals. Two separate human beings. But its not going to be easy for him. For any individual it takes time and THERAPY for them to overcome such truths.

I would LIKE for him to take his time in realizing . cause it keeps it REALISTIC.. and will show us a genuine story and character progression rather than a rushed concept...

He seems to be missing the point that his love and dedication to his ammi won't allow him to turn into his dad. He's seen what his ammi went through, and he'd never put someone else through that. Strength of character or lack thereof are not hereditary, but developed through life experiences.

LoveRosh has put it so beautifully.

Plus the fact that Rashid broke Dilshad's heart twice...it was a perfect love story...and everything that could go wrong went wrong...all because his father was slave to an emotion called love...he loved two women.

Asad fears the uncertainty of LOVE. Esp when he sees the immense power it has over him right now.

He cannot control it...what if he were to feel the same for another girl and end up hurting Zoya? What if he turned out to be another slave like Rashid and end up hurting the woman he loved?

Right on girl!!! I totally second what you wrote! I am a counselor myself and I have come across many people like Asad who have various issues because of parents broken marriage. Being raised by a single parent isn't an easy thing. Asad's character is as real as it can be! His fears are very realistic! @LoveRosh you have written everything that explains Asad's fears..don't have much to add!!!

Easier said than done. His complex is stronger than his love. Zoya's uncertainty is not helping much either!!
