Absolutely brilliant Laila! You sure deserve a standing ovation for this sheer display par ecxellence!👏

People become angry for different reasons. Our anger can take different form depending on our learned beliefs, experiences and perception. In an angry state, one can either head it off at the pass...just like Asad and Rashid did yesterday or one can simply learn in beginning to heal the angry state.
Asad's display of anger yesterday was simply stemmed off from grudge, hate and rage as he feels that his father has wronged them in every way, where as Rashid's anger was out of sheer rage and as for Dilshad who hardly ever displays anger, her anger was merely out of frustration and contempt,as she felt according to her judgement, deep disapproval towards her son Asad's actions.
All this anger may or may not be justified to an extent but this rowdy, ott, demented, horrific display to portray anger through the visuasl medium was totally not called for!
You see, when I watched the episode yesterday, I did not feel any connection towards the character's where I could empathise with ,or feel any genuine amount of sincerety towards. All I could do, in all honesty was just simply, laugh out loud!...seriously...I was just bare rofling..🤣..I really felt as if I was watching one of those 80's Bollywood movies, the Dharmendra starrers, where he kicks open his enemies door, followed by cheesy and cringeworthy dialouges along the lines of ,
"Kuthe,mein tera khun peen joungi"🤣.
This is all I could visualize once the Tarzan and caveman rolled into one ,woke up in Rashid and he finally remembered that Razia is the evilest of evilest vamps...🤣 flinging the door open, with all respect out the window...
.RAAAZZZIIIAAA...RAAAZZZIIIAAA at the top of his lungs...🤣and then Choke,choke...Razia,spluttering,spluttering...🤪oh for crying out loud !my sides were aching with laughter.
What the hell did I just witness?Chainsaw Massacre Horror,or the Munster's family amateur comedy?
Asad's anger is something that doesn't shock or surprise me anymore, but the epitome of class and grace,,Dilshad, didn't see that one coming even in my wildest nightmares...😲...she seemed under a trance, zombified, posseessed by some evil spirit...🤪...
Every display of anger was just simply out of place and character sketch...with us left thinking that a bunch of amateur's from Four Lions must be at work!
If this display of Asad's anger...breaking the furniture and all was instead to be shown for the redemption episode,we could have interpreted it as sheer disgust at himself for raising his hand on a woman, but that anger was completely misplaced yesterday...simply didn't make sense the toddler tantrum!🤪
All I know is a
pshychiatrist,an excorsist and anger management sessions is required asap in the Khan household as alot of healing is needed and in the mean time Khans se toh baach ke hi rehna!😛😉

To a large extent the characters have completely devolved from their earlier much more composed persona.
That most people react rather emotionally when faced with such trying times is not the point in question.
I would argue that the character of Zoya, especially, has taken a deep nose-dive, in terms of being self-respecting, strong, and totally self-sufficient.
Now her character is reduced to doing silly, illogical and/or dangerous acts from which the Knight in Rusty Armor has to rescue her... they have reduced her to a Damsel in Distress ( Mungulpour incident, going after Rughoo, etc.)

Not satisfied with this, the PH has further cut her character down to that of the standard long-suffering woman who takes any abuse dished out by 'her' man - verbal, emotional, physical - and always forgives him in the name of love, his pain, the situation, or any other excuse that comes handy.

I have said it before and I will continue to say it... there is absolutely no social cause being promoted by any show on any channel. They are adept at portraying evil in all its guises - all details being shown step-by-step for would-be perpetrators watching - but I have yet to see anyone taking weeks to showcase the consequences.

I am very disappointed in this show. I liked Zoya's spunky character, and now she is scraping the bottom of the barrel for self-respect.

That Dishaad's character has also suddenly become her husband's champion is a great mystery. Early episodes show-cased her being 'khouddaar' and working hard to support herself and her kids...the person now being shown is totally weak. Time heals a lot of wounds...and 17 years is a long time to carry so much hatred or even so much love. It is romanticized in poetry and movies (Veer-Zaara, eg_), but reality is far different.
All of a sudden, Raashid is now contacting Dishaad and romanticizing her again... the situation has not changed, other than some truths coming to light, courtesy Nikhut's engagement or Zoya's digging, so why has he started this now?

As for Uhsud, you have outlined his anger issues well...the problem is, all this is a crapshoot and it will never go away unless the whole family seeks help and moves on.

WORD

Alas I realized something - hindi soaps are not worth the effort i put into them. On many levels QH absolutely disgusts me especially Rashid and the mockery in the name of showcasing a social cause.

Why do I still watch it? Apparently 20mins of mindless entertainment in the form of melodrama has some sick sort of attraction.

The TRPs show it, the fact I watch this show, shows it. Quite pathetic actually.

So i try to justify why i watch this show by picking out the things I like which is even more pathetic.

I guess having too much time on my hands is the only real reason 😆

Rocker,

This sick attraction we have for such downright ugly shows is actually coz we are lovesick fools...we are sick for love...good, true, self-respecting love, that is.

We take in the crumbs we can get and deplore the rest.
We shake our heads at the collective that romanticize the abuse and dream of the 'perfect man' - an oxymoron - exactly like the abusers being glorified in the shows.

I, for one, download the episodes, and since I have already read the story, I FF all the Siddiqui house scenes... voila! Barely 10 minutes of the day!

Now what to do with the remaining 10?
Ah, make a post!
Too much time on our hands, indeed!😃

Hey Laila,

Lovely post here. You've captured the crux of how anger has impacted these characters beautifully.

Anger needs to be expressed. If not, it can manifest in other forms that can do more damage to the individual and those around.

Asad's anger manifests in his need to be in control, in his inability to look beyond the obvious and inability to trust anyone else's judgement. In a way, he expects the worst in people, except those close to him and those he trusts. His obsessive compulsive behaviour is his need to be in control, cos he had very little control over his early life. If he'd behaved calmly, the events would have turned out different.

I don't know if I'd label Rashid as passive aggressive unless you're looking at certain behaviours like considering himself the victim, self pity, helplessness, then yes I guess it's fine. I think Rashid is a man without hope, and he's responsible for the muck he got himself into. Only he doesn't want to see it. But I'm going to reserve my judgement till I know the timelines and whether he committed adultery.

He set fire to the factory, so he's no saint. He made bad choices... Even in the toughest situations, the men with b**lls will do the right thing. And he isnt one of them. He definitely does not deserve the love of those two women. How he expressed his anger towards Razia, well it got him nowhere. If he'd thought through it calmly, he might have got Razia to trip up.

With Dilshad, it's anger and frustration at how her life turned out. And maybe angry with herself that despite all that Rashid's done, she cannot let go and she still cares for him. Old habits die hard they say. I think her anger at Asad's action yesterday was part frustration at Asad's inability to trust in her blind belief that Rashid's innocent, and at some level, frustration about her weakness for her husband. He's her blind spot and rather than admit he's committed a crime (arson) forget murder (btw, did they forget about the skeleton?) she'll focus on the one thing she knows he didn't do... Attempt to kill her.

Honestly, after watching today's episode, I don't know what to make of Dilshad. Disappointed with her for sure, to say the least.

What I love about your response, and so many others, on this thread, is how this has opened up the ability for everyone to add more layers to these characters. I really like your analysis of these characters and the perspective you bring for each persons individual action. I was actually inspired to take on this approach from one of the comments you made about anger management. I recalled the days when I used to teach anger management classes and how important the first step towards managing anger was to recognize it. Anger doesn't just happen; it is an emotion that is vital to our well being if expressed appropriately. In addition it has to be an emotion recognized by the person and controlled so it is used effectively. None of the three characters could manage this and as a result, those who want to them wrong can take full advantage of them.

Of the three, Asad appears to have the most anger. Rashid's seems more internalized at himself for failing to be the man he should be. He definitely has failed his son and daughter. And there is Dilshaad whose anger at Asad is unfair and unjust; after all he was the one who stood by her when her husband abandoned her. What a betrayal of loyalty to know that after all these years she still stands at the side of the man who has let them all down.

I wanted to thank you for your praise. I admire your work so a praise from a person like you only makes me 😳. I had a tough time writing this post as I had not been watching the show religiously and had only caught moments and relied a lot on the written updates.

The Khan family is in definite need of therapeutic intervention. For the writers I guess this is in the form of Zoya Farooqui, who is practicing without a license, but will apparently save the day.

Very Well said!! And loved the quotes on Anger :) Anger really has been the driving force for most of these characters and I hope they can build the story based on other emotions as well, instead of opposite poles (like love and hate).
Unfortunately, for me the spice is missing in this so called "Saazish" its almost like too much has been said about it and the expectations have been raised with all these press conferences and etc... It seems like some 70's film. I would rather watch a proper story unfolding instead of some OTT 17 years ago saazish, where even if Rashid hasn't committed the murder which we know he hasn't- still doesn't justify him having two wives or having an affair. His character can't be redeemed at least not for me.
They need to work on all the characters and don't butcher them to an extent that they can't redeem themselves. Not very happy with this so called twist, I wish they had a better screenplay.
