I might know which post you're talking about. I realized that the TM does have a point. I do criticize Gul more because I'm familiar with her work. I know the plot point swhere she falters. But then if I wasn't watching her previous show I wouldn't have known about this one. So Gul does benefit from a ready fanbase.

Not that post in particular. The general attitude around here.

Exactly Gul has a ready made fan base.

RC, I am just waiting to see how this whole thing unfolds. I thought the slap yesterday was unacceptable. I can understand (well, sort of) where he was coming from, but hitting a woman, on national tv, not acceptable! Even if they happen in real life circumstances, it is totally wrong to justify it on tv. I am just waiting to see how Zoya reacts and how this thing unfolds. If she is just shown to be okay with it, it would be just pathetic!

About two families - well I have two points about it - 1. in some Muslim families all sort of things happen (being a muslim, I know). What they are showing here is not too far from realities for some families. However, the kids being completely okay with that, not too sure about that. 2. You do things when you are in love which you would never even imagine doing under other circumstances.

I apologise for the close mindedness of the post. I am not aware much of the Muslim culture.

That my point exactly. Everyone is angry because of a SLAP from Asad to Zoya as according to them it is encouraging domestic violence and bad for the society. How come the same audience don't feel enraged about Rashids FU**ED UP lifestyle. He has two wives and five children. Only Asad was born normally but after Asad he apparently slept with another woman to have another son while staying with his wife who later became pregnant with Najma. Then he brought Ayan to live with his first wife since the OTHER woman left him. Then for whatever reason after Najmas birth he went back to his OTHER woman and fathered two more children while according to him he was always in love with his first wife?now both these women love him too much.
This is totally messed up and indeed showing women in a bad way. But who cares about that.
Anyway as for me I am hooked to QH for Asya and little bit of Asad Ayan bonding and Ayans naughty deeds. But yeah mainly ASYA.So forget logic, social responsibility and consider this just another fiction without too much thinking.

Hi Trina, actually, there are quite a lot of people in this forum who aren't exactly fond of Rashid Miyan, for precisely the points you mention. Quite a few have commented about it, and about Rashid's grey characterisation as well. And I completely agree that it shows women in a regressive light.
Speaking for myself, my main reason for watching QH is AsYa, who are the lead characters and which is the dominant relationship in the serial. Rashid, I put up with on screen only because he is central to the intrigue that surrounds AsYa. And because he has been portrayed as an underdog and a victim, even though he has victimised others, and because there seems to be a tragic love story unfolding between him and Dilshaad.
Had Rashid been the male lead, I doubt I would have bothered to stay with this serial.

I dont think I will call it normal for muslim families... but a man is allowed to have more than one wife... so there will probably definitely be cases like this somewhere... although personally I do not know any muslim family where this is the case...

I agree with you RC! No matter how the makers try to justify his actions, Rashid is and will always be a selfish, spineless loser. I'll never understand why Dilshaad still loves him. It is not natural.
On top of that, the first wife, the second wife, and all the kids seem to be ok with living under one roof. It's strange!
