And with the desi crowd, people are obsessed with fair skin. My cousin has dark skin and her Mom and grandmother always lament that she has dark skin even though they have similar skin tones to her as well. Her Grandmother always victimizes herself by claiming how she's not considered good looking because she (I'm talking about the grandma) doesn't have fair skin. And then goes , "Look at your grandmother with fair skin. She' so beautiful compared to me." It gets annoying hearing her say this over and over again.

Yes this is a huge issue with Afro-Americans too. Some of them even bleach their kids which is shocking.

Likewise even Whites Tan but its upto their own free will. Tanning mom came under so much fire cos she made her kids use the tanning booth too.

she lives in india dear and in a traditional conservative family, if her brother being a boy and a son does not have a voice then how the hell is she supposed to reject this marriage...her brother got into trouble for making eye contact with the mamujaan nikhat rejecting marriage would give the whole family a heart attack 😆
bottom line nikhat has no choice her opinion does not matter she will say qabool hai to the person her parents decide on...she will not speak up against the insult that was being done to her because its against her upbringing...had it been u or me we would have given those people a real peace of our minds😳

The family is doing what they believe is the best for their daughter ...even they are living in the belief that their daughter is brown=ugly so they want her to we well settled and don't to look at the negative things about the family

LOL but this marriage won't happen for somereason and Nikhat will be insulted more.

Something you brought up that interested me. I read a comment under an IF article how people aren't interested in shows that bring up social issues. The person wrote how those kinds of shows are boring and that the viewers want entertainment. I've watched a few shows with a social message and even if they're not popular with many, they still are better shows that just simply showing romance. The makers of Qabool Hai said it's not a love story per se, but that it dwells on social issues and I hope they stick with that. Simply showing romance with no substance to the show may work for many fans as evidenced by other shows who do this sort of thing, but then the real message of the show just gets sidelined and people who were interested in the show for its concept may end up leaving rather than watching "sizzling hot pointless romance."
