Okay...I don't have the time to go through 14 pages of posts...
I just wanted to address the very valid points the TM raised.
But Muskaan...I just wanted to say...try and understand...that this chart is something that someone of a muslim background will understand...but it's really not relevant to someone who does not believe in Islam...
My point is QH is featuring characters of a muslim backdrop. So if anyone has a question...we should address it in the simplest terms to help them better understand why the characters are doing something in a certain way.
We don't have to convince them that we are right...😆...just my POV...😳

It's not about "traditional", dear! Muslim gilrs are not allowed to wear tight clothes or jeans! 😊
And what Asad wore was not something Islam doesn't allow. 😊

This is to maintain a sense of modesty in society. That's why you'll find muslims usually wearing loose fitted clothing that provides more coverage. There is a logic behind it...You may not understand it...and you certainly don't have to agree with it. But it's not fair to say that we don't have rights. Your statement seems to be tinged with mockery that's not warranted.
Like I said in my earlier post religion...any religion...only provides guidelines...a person is free to follow according to their level of committment.

@Crystalalena: regarding @purple...A lot of times to be quite honest...brothers are very over-protective...and seldom practice what they preach. It has nothing to do with religion...izzat ka sawal hai...bas...😆

Somy. Congrats on your ATBB thread. 👍🏼

Tbqh, I do agree with some of the stuff you are saying. Asad's character is the regressive, orthodoxy type of a guy, and I think that's where his thoughts will collide with Zoya's?

As for people saying Bhopal is not a safe place and hence Asad wants her to wear salwar suits and etc, I don't get your point. Rapists and perverts don't look at what a girl wears.. doesn't sexual assault and harassment occur in villages and small towns wear girls DON'T wear modern clothes? I never understood that kinda thinking, so I don't get Asad's thinking either. He's being protective, yes, but still. I don't like that kinda thinking, bleh. But I guess that's how his character is... maybe he became this way due to his past or whatever.

As for Islam, or any religion for that matter, not condemning indecent clothes... Jeans, and a t-shirt with a scarf, is pretty much equivalent to salwar kameez, no? I think we all have a freedom of choice, and freedom of belief and practice. Some Muslims are like hardcore, I guess like Asad, while Zoya has a modern way of thinking. Asad and Najma aren't the same people, they have different thoughts as well. So I think if Najma wants to wear jeans, she should be able to.. but Asad is protective, and she respects her brother's decision. So meh. I am glad I don't have anyone in my family who thinks like any of the characters in the show (minus Zoya I suppose), and lets me wear whatever I want. 😆

I kinda wanna see Najma wanting to work.. see what Asad's reaction is then. The feminist in me does not want to be angered. 😆

Asad's statement was hypocrisy at its best.
But actually this kind of double standards exist in India where only the women are expected to wear the traditional clothes or upkeep traditions. They are expected to do this for the sake of tradition and because this is somehow going to keep them safe. On the other hand, guys not wearing the traditional outfits at all times is not considered a bad thing...

Disagree
It's all about modesty how each person views it
In the end its up too u and what u follow
Because its between u and God
I wear jeans but it doesn't mean I'm bad a muslim
Allah can never force with us. It's not about what u wear but the person u r
Being a good person counts more then a jean
