Aaliyah (I hope the spelling is correct, sorry in advance), Nice bumping into you here.

The husband isn't supposed to say talak three times in a row. This is a sever cultural mistake and distortion.

I went to an Islamic high school here in the USA and we had an extensive Islamic Studies class on marriage during 11th and 12th grades.
The husband can divorce his wife three times.

The first time he says "talak", then there is a waiting period, then they can get back together if eveyrthing is resolved in that period OR become legally divorced.
If they remarry or get back together after that, the husband can say talak once more. The same cycle occurs.
The third time he says it, after the waiting period, they can not get back together. The only way they can get back together is if the wife marries someone else, consummates, they divorce (for the first time) and then she remarries her first husband.
Again, you aren't supposed to say "talak talak talak" three times like that in a row. It's a mistake many Indian/Pakistani/Bengali Muslims make.

Women CAN obtain a divorce. Its called Khula. She can go to an imam/religious leader to make it official. Technically, she's "asking" her husband for a divorce, but when she says she wants a divorce, its called khula. He is obliged to divorce her.
In the case of khula, the waiting period is only 1 month. In talak, the waiting period is approximately 3 months.

I'm not going to say that this is wrong. As Allaha knows the best. However If u have seen any Pakistani drama then they have showed talak 3 times in a row. They do a lot of research before showing such things. As I have said in my post already that it depends on how the divorce was done. It is best If cv's don't touch on this! They might even show Zoya going against this! Which would be more interesting to see! Zoya should marry Asad without halala!

From 1998 to 2003 this show was considered one of the best in India
We had Sony by then in the USA
Everyone had Heena fever
And this was a muslim show
My point is that if the story is great it will work😊

the divorce law sounds too complicated .🤔😃 I guess our divorce laws are easier. You just file a petition with a judge seeking annulment. That's sounds more flexible for me.😆Hope , I did not offend anyone by saying this.:)

This show should work if they keep audience on their toes. Zoya marrying Ayan than Asad again sounds too confusing.😆

Actually while gems4emma's post is most technically accurate...and that is the proper way to go about doing things...I agree with you Saniya...that this is a very complicated issue that not everyone is well versed with.
I can understand if the CVs want to use their show as a platform to get rid of misunderstandings about Islam...but perhaps this topic is better left untouched.
Moreover, as Dejavu suggested...it may just go over the heads of the majority of the viewing audience...which is non-muslim.

Saniya I just read your edited post...thanks for singling out my post...😳
I just want to say one thing to every one.
Qubool hai..seems to be a very interesting show...with a lot of drama in store for us.
But it is only 3 episodes old.
One spoiler type post from Zee TV has literally thrown the forum into a frenzy and everyone is already disecting it in a million and one ways and coming up with possibilities and defenses.
Some are already turned off by the impending track.
But you know what...none of these have happened...and storylines move in sway with the TRPs.
Why not just sit back and enjoy the show?...get used to the characters, and stick to commenting on what has been presented so far.
We can always criticize the CVs and tackle the heavy issues when and if they come.
Take Care,
Fatima
