Oh... I just happened to realize that I got an update that I forgot to post here 🤷

Chapter 29 - Unexpected Attack

He had thought it was the sudden trip to his birth place that was actual conspiracy but it seemed his enemies were way ahead than him and they got plans different than he thought.

Or maybe they changed their plans when he altered the decisions?

Whatever it was, it wasn't good for Abhay and he could feel the danger even before Chand conveyed the news that was going to change lot of things.

"They're in home, Abhay. We're ambushed," Chand said. "Protect Piya. Don't leave her alone."

Abhay froze hearing his father. This wasn't happening. This couldn't happen right when he did so much to protect Piya. This couldn't happen right when Piya was alone at the terrace of his place.

No, shit, no.

Dropping the plate on floor, Abhay jumped over the table and swiftly ran to the stairs. Fear crawled over his body as he skipped several steps and ran in his inhuman speed to reach Piya. His mind forming possible scenarios and his almost dead heart going in frenzy.

How the hell his enemies catch on his mistakes so quickly?

It wasn't even mistake but they caught the opportunity right when served. Without wasting a second.

Like how?

Abhay halted, his gaze stopped at the silk robes fluttering on the doorstep of terrace. The group of vampires.

Abhay couldn't believe this was happening. His mouth opened in shock and his worry escalated.

How could they just reach the terrace without his notice?

And Piya?

Abhay eyes widened and the fear clutched his heart in a painful squeeze to kill him once again. Piya was in danger because of him and he couldn't lose her for anything.

Howling snapped him from his thoughts and Abhay jerked back. There sat wolves on the foot of stairs. He was completely trapped, standing in the middle of stairs with Vampires on one side and wolves on the other, while Piya was somewhere beyond his reach.

More than himself, the worry for Piya strangled him. He had to know where she was and protect her from this darker side of his world.

He was alone and it was going to be hell with both of his worst enemies, but the stakes were higher and it was Piya who was in real danger.

He had to be calm and he had to be strong but at that moment, Abhay couldn't work on either of his mottos. He didn't know why but the thought of Piya away from him was driving him crazy and he wasn't able to hold his emotions.

"For Piya, I have to do something," Abhay told himself and looked at both of his enemies who were staring him in anticipation.

Abhay took his decision and turned to vampires, analysing their situation. The leader was supposed to be without hood but there was no one amid vampires who wasn't wearing hood. The leader of vampires was missing and it wasn't a good news for Abhay.

Pushing back every thought, Abhay took his position in the middle of stairs to attack. Looking at werewolves, he attacked the vampires trying to tear through their row to reach Piya.

The werewolves attacked him from behind, clawing on his back and tearing his skin. Abhay kicked the animals while trying to get past the vampires.

Vampire flung him down to the ground floor. He crashed on the table that broke, the pieces of which poked his bodies. He stood up wincing at the trivial injuries that he attained.

Abhay glared at the werewolves and vampires that had gathered around him in second. He surveyed them sharply and realized they were in dozens which made it even more difficult for him to fight against them.

He was alone and they were many. He wasn't even close to nature to use the elements of nature.

At that time, Abhay had nothing to do but assess them to know their move and defend himself.

Fighting just vampires or just werewolves was still better but this attack where both were together and he was alone wasn't going to help him even a bit.

His eyes moved from the smirking lips to glittering eyes trying to understand their mind and find a way out of this.

Abhay eyes narrowed as his enemies stood without making any move. They were standing motionless and staring him attentively. This seemed weird to Abhay.

His eyes widened as he realized they were stalling. The leaders of both vampires and werewolves were missing when they had to be here to lead their force to kill him, but they weren't here, which only meant something else was planned.

Which meant attack wasn't on him. They didn't want to hurt him directly but injure him indirectly.

Piya, Abhay shuddered at the thought of Piya in the clutches of his enemies. She was just a simple human trying to find simple life but here he dragged him into a place where his own survival was a question mark.

With his heart clenched in a fist, Abhay looked at broken wood scattered around him. Vampires and werewolves were standing together right in front of him with a little distance separating the two enemies who had joined against him.

Glancing towards the vampire and werewolves, Abhay swiftly bended and snatched the wood from floor, ran forward and thrust it in the heart of werewolf. Wolf changed into human and cried in agony before dying.

Vampires rushed to him and so the other werewolves. Pulling out the wood from killed werewolf, Abhay stabbed the first vampire who tried to attack him. A werewolf lurched over him from other side and tackled him to the ground.

Rolling over, Abhay grabbed the other piece from floor and stabbed it in the werewolf trying to bite him.

As Abhay tried to stood up, another werewolf attacked him and was about to pierce its teeth in his skin when a vampire pulled it away, confusing Abhay.

He noticed the silent understanding between the two enemies of him that were enemies themselves and it didn't go well with Abhay. Such kind of behaviour wasn't good from his enemies.

But this wasn't the time to think about their behaviour. It was time for Abhay to attack and finish all of them.

Swirling around, he grabbed a vampire from neck when something something sliced his skin taking away whatever the little breath he was allowed to breathe. He faltered in pain leaving the snickering vampire.

Abhay dropped his gaze to check himself. The harmless but dangerous silver was plummeted in his stomach. A proof his enemies didn't want to kill him yet. But stop him from something for the time being.

An excruciating pain soared in his body and Abhay tumbled back hitting the wall with force. Black spots started to form and his powers started to decline under the effect of silver.

But it wasn't the time to fall under the effect of silver. He had to fight for Piya. She was in danger because of him and he had to protect her anyhow. Even if that meant changing the opinion of his enemies and forcing them to kill him, he was ready for the suicide.

Clutching the knife, Abhay gathered the strength and pulled it out of his body. He staggered forward with impact and falling close to a vampire, Abhay grabbed him from neck.

"Where's she?" Abhay asked, his voice was a mere whisper due to the pain searing in him. Agony held his body in a harsh grip.

The vampire laughed and pushed him back with strength.

Hitting the wall, he dropped on floor and the pain rose from his stomach and extended in his whole body; disturbing his thoughts and aggravating his agony.

"She deserve to die, so she'll die," a vampire spoke and they all laughed at his miserable state.

"Remember how she died? That girl you loved? Same face, I must say. And now it will meet the same fate too. Her death."

The words were venomous than the wound in his stomach. He almost felt breathless. The uncanny similarities of past shook him even more. He struggled to breath properly again.

Maithli face revolved in his mind. Her smile and then the eyes that he had to close. The pale face he saw last time and the laughter he didn't hear again. The life that died right in his arms and he couldn't do anything.

Abhay shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut and scratching away the painful memories.

No, he wouldn't let anything happen to Piya. He wouldn't let her become another Maithli.

He had to stop being helpless and fight for the innocent lives that these monsters knew to crush without any second thought. He wasn't going to be silent this time but for that he had to reach Piya first.

Yelping in anguish, Abhay stood on his wobbling feet. A strong determination shone through his eyes and the shade of blue took over the icy greyness.

In a second, he was standing in front of the vampire who uttered those sick words.

Before anyone could attack him, Abhay held the laughing vampire from the neck and snapped his head. A sickening sound reverberated in mansion and an eerie silence numbed the intruders.

Staggering, Abhay glanced to other vampires, took a few steps back to the drawing room wall and pulled out the poisonous silver hidden in the back of wall for dire situations.

It was an enchanted silver that worked for once and on all. Abhay didn't regret using it now.

A smirk came on his face as he could literally smell the fear that dawned over his enemies who recognised the silver very well.

He could even see a few of vampires debating on escaping the place and became a rogue to save their life. But Abhay didn't want to save any of their pathetic life for any information. They all were pawns and useless to him, which meant they all had to die.

A snap, the silver spread in the hall like a voracious smoke, and all of his enemies fell on floor with thuds.

Vampires died on spot while werewolves changed into their human form and writhed in pain before dying in a second.

Watching the bodies sprawled on floor with satisfaction, Abhay focused on his next move. He had to protect Piya and it was time to find her.

The first place was terrace and he really hoped that she was still there and safe. It was a hopeless thought but Abhay really wanted it to be true.

Abhay sprinted to stairs once again with just Piya his mind. Crossed the first portion. Reach the second stairs and ran in the terrace in his inhuman speed.

His steps faltered on the empty terrace. The wind played silently and painfully. He felt pain in his chest, not the physical one but something more akin to anguish and agony.

They had taken her away. She was in the clutches of monsters, he was trying to keep her away from. She was actually going to face the darkness that she was feeling connected to.

This forest seems to call me. Darkness always provide me solace.

I feel I belong here. Between night and forest and between darkness and nothing.

Her words echoed in his mind and Abhay shook his head violently.

They were just her words and feeling that didn't necessarily meant she would be falling in the darkness. He would protect her. He had to protect her.

Her smiling face flashed in his mind and he ran to the edge. Leaning on banister, he took a thorough look of the area surrounding him.

The moon was hidden in clouds, darkness was spread everywhere and trees were silent then before. The peaks stopped at a place and the stillness of woods giving an ominous feeling.

Looking around Abhay tried to spot any rustling or any point that could help him to know where they took away Piya. Narrowing his eyes, he watched every corner with his sharp sight.

Somewhere at distance, he saw a smoke rising amid the darkness and trees.

His breath stopped and darkness consumed his mind as he realized what was happening. His enemies were crueler and it was the most cruelest method to destroy him.

No, they can't do it. They can't choose that method to harm Piya.

He couldn't afford losing Piya in a fire. No damn it, no.

Fire. The damn fire.

The element of nature.

The element under his control.

But the wounds of which he can't heal.

The death of which he can't stop.

And by the way, what's with new fanfiction site?
