Part 2(3 weeks later...near Piya's house)
Piya just came home from office. She plopped down on her cushiony couch, just after changing into a frilly cotton frock. Her hair was spread out everywhere as she lay in a relaxed position. Her boss chewed her out because of her lack of concentration on work. She was worried about herself...and Abhay.
She hated her life. It was completely dull and lonely. She had no one left she could go to. Her family was dead and her friends ignored her. Only Abhay brought some happiness into her life. She would do anything to be with him, even if that meant becoming a vampire. If only he wasn't being so stubborn...
She was just about to take a nap when suddenly a masked figure approached her. It was tall and slender, hiding its face under a hood. Piya bounced off the couch and grabbed her pocket knife, holding it open in her clenched fist. The figure moved closer...seizing her swiftly in a headlock, snatching the knife from her hand and crushing it into bits of metal. It dragged her out the back door of her house. Piya was no match for its power. She couldn't break free. The necklace seemed to be doing nothing to help her.
"Abhay! Please help me!" She screamed in her head...hoping...just hoping he would hear her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Abhay lifted his head from the neck if his prey, blood smearing his lips. He was craving blood for the past weeks. He was worrying about Piya than hunting. Then he heard a muffled scream in the distance. It sounded like Piya's voice. He bolted in that direction, certain that Piya was in danger. He could feel it. An impending danger.
He soon caught her scent about a mile away.
"Piya!" He called. His voice echoed back. Her screams ceased. Abhay dug his nails into the nearby tree.
He experienced a new born aversion towards the vampires who were his and Piya's enemy. They were cowards, he thought. They didn't face him directly. They stabbed them in the back.
"I promise you Piya...I will kill each and every one of them." He hissed to himself.
(In an unknown clearing...)
Piya laid in the soft grass of the dark clearing, unconscious. Her head was bleeding profusely from a large gash across her forehead. A trio of vampires circled her, laughing and snickering. They were so close to ruining Abhay. They could finally become higher than him in the eyes of their leader.
Abhay reached closer and closer to Piya's location. A strong scent of human blood filled his head, prompting his razor sharp fangs to make an appearance. His eyes blazed a darker blue, glowing in the darkness. He defensively approached the direction it was coming from, enraged at the sight he was seeing. Piya was bleeding all over her face, weakened and near death. The necklace glowed its bright crimson red. It was keeping her heart beating. Abhay saw the trio laughing at his beloved's plight. He stalked the edge of the clearing, just reaching the back of one. Thinking merely of saving Piya, he lunged at the nearest vampire, forcing him to the ground by his neck and simultaneously snapping it under his grasp. The blood he just drank fueled his already brute strength. He was angry. How dare they hurt his beloved!
The duo lunged at Abhay in retaliation, but he was too fast for them. He continued his violent rampage, gripping one in a headlock and literally tearing his heart out. Abhay stared at his bloody hand, with eyes that of a menacing killer. The last vampire, fearing for his life, took off into the forest.
Abhay washed his bloody hand in the nearby stream and then rushed straight to Piya. Her heartbeats were faint, her heart only beating once or twice every 15 seconds. She was dying quickly. Her head lay in a pool of blood, which was still oozing from the cut on her head. He sat next to her, carefully placing her head on his lap, while healing the wound on her forehead. Her lips parted in response, but she was still unconscious. He couldn't let her die.
Then he thought of what the leader told him. Either turn her or kill her. He picked his choice.
"You have to do this Abhay. You have to." He coached himself.
He laid her down on the ground, turning his body so he could oversee her face. He picked her up, cradling her in his arms like a baby. Piya's head flopped to side, exposing her pale neck. He was running out of time. Breaking free of his hesitancy, he did the unthinkable. He bit Piya. His fangs lodged right into her neck.
As much as he hated himself for the deed, deep down, he was happy that his love would always be with him. It was a selfish desire, fulfilled by the twists of fate.
He removed his teeth from her skin, retracting them at the same time. The fresh scar grabbed at his attention. He felt terrible. His heart full of guilt and the feeling of betrayal. He broke his promise to himself: to never hurt Piya.
"I'm sorry Piya. I'm sorry." He said woefully. Blood filled tears raced down his cheeks.
A vampire approached Abhay cautiously, to deliver a message.
"The leader has summoned you. Urgently. And he wants you to bring the girl with you."
"I'll be there shortly." Abhay growled back.
He carefully picked Piya up in his arms and whisked her away deeper into the forest. He soon reached the council hall. It was suspiciously empty. He took each step with caution, like he was anticipating an attack from someone. He found the leader standing where he was before, back still turned.
"Are you happy now?! Here she is...half dead!" Abhay spat at him.
"It was in her fate to become one of us. No one could stop it." He said flatly.
"It was not her fate! This could have been averted if your men didn't attack her!"
"She would have been saved now. But then what would happen in 2 weeks? Would you have killed her Abhay?"
"Never!"
"Then? She would be in the same state as she's in now."
"We were perfectly fine without this mess."
"Well nothing can change now. Her fate has been sealed. I suggest taking her home with you. She will be conscious again in a few hours."
"And what about her human life? It's destroyed now. How will she handle that?"
"I've been observing her for a while now. It seems she wanted this life over her human one. And for good reasons: she wanted to be with you."
"That was her foolishness. I tried to persuade her to avoid the idea, but she is as stubborn as I am."
"That's not stubbornness; that's love."
"What do you know about love?"
"You may have not known this, but I also loved someone. Before I became a vampire. Sadly, I lost her to cancer."
This statement shocked Abhay. They both stayed silent afterwards.
"I'm taking her home with me. And I want that barrier down as soon as possible. If Piya wants to go home I will go behind her."
"Very well. I'm glad you somewhat understood my point. I have your daylight ring, as well as one for Piya. Take them."
Abhay carefully took both rings, without losing his hold on Piya. He started towards the exit. He ventured to his home, holding her closely to his chest. Her heartbeats ceased to exist. That wonderful sound was gone.
He kicked open his door and rushed Piya to his bedroom. Her body was drained of all warmth. His venom was quickly changing her. He threw off the fluffy blankets and laid her in the bed, tucking her in well. He sat down next to her, entwining his fingers with her.
He was worried on her reaction when she woke up. What would he tell her? That she was a vampire like him now? Guilt overshadowed like a rain cloud. He kept a steady eye on her, guarding her with his life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Piya steadily opened her eyes to find herself lying in a soft four poster bed. Her fingers rubbed the bed sheets. Satin. This wasn't her bedroom. Where was she?
She tried to get up, but her body was extremely weak. It was like someone took all of her strength away in one swoop. She couldn't move her head because her neck screamed bloody murder in her mind. The intense discomfort she felt was new. Any slight movement would set off millions of nerves and push her back to the same stiff position she was in before. She turned her body to the bedside instead, finding a dark glass bottle and a note on the nightstand. She picked up the note and read.
"Drink this Piya. It will help get your strength back. I'm outside. Waiting for you...Abhay."
"Abhay?! How did he bring me here?! It's not even a full moon." She thought. Everything was blurry. She couldn't remember anything.
Piya took the bottle in her hand and popped the cap off. She felt slightly better from when she woke up. Her throat burned with thirst as she brought the bottle to her lips. She drank the mysterious liquid lustfully. She didn't know exactly what it was, but it tasted delicious and she wanted more. The bottle was empty within seconds.
Strength surged throughout her body like electricity. Soon she could get up out of the bed like any other day. Her neck pain vanished as well. She walked barefoot around the small house, finding her way to the front door. It was partially open. She creaked it open, her eyes searching for Abhay. Piya found him sitting next to the stream, leaning against the giant oak tree. She rushed out in great exuberance, beaming with the joy of seeing him. Abhay heard her dainty footsteps and turned to see her skipped towards him. He stood up surprised.
Piya fell into Abhay's arms immediately. She held him tightly. Abhay lifted her face up to his.
"Are you okay Piya? Do you feel okay?"
"Normal?! I'm on cloud nine! I missed you so much Abhay!"
"I missed you too jaan." He said, rubbing his cheek against her hair. He breathed heavily.
"What happened Abhay? How did you bring me here?"
"You don't remember anything?" He asked. he took a deep breath and explained everything. "You were kidnapped by some rogue vampires and they almost killed you! And..." He paused. He couldn't tell her...
"And what Abhay...?" Piya asked, net face twisted in tension.
He didn't say anything.
"Tell me Abhay!" Piya shook him by the shoulders. She sensed something was terribly wrong.
"I had to bite you..." He looked at the ground in utter shame, hands balled into fists, his nails digging into his palms.
Piya stared at him, showing no emotion on her face. She didn't know what to express, shock or happiness. Or both. She turned towards the house again, searching for something. She opened a door and found the bathroom, posing herself in front of the mirror. She moved her hair to the side and turned her head to fully expose her neck. She saw it. The scar from his bite. But she didn't react to the fact that she was undead now, but to the fact that Abhay was suffering inside because of it. She didn't care about herself. She wanted Abhay to be happy.
Abhay sat near the stream again, tossing some pebbles into the running water. Piya approached him softly. Her bare feet felt cool in the dark green grass. Abhay heard her dainty footsteps and turned to meet her gaze. Piya sat in his lap like a little girl and laid her head on his chest. She closed her eyes and relaxed.
"Piya...you...how are you not reacting to this? I ruined your life in seconds and you're not even mad?"
"You never ruined my life. You made it better." She whispered, running her fingers across his chest.
"How?! I made you like me! A blood-sucking monster! How is that better?!"
"Shhh Abhay...calm down. Think of the bright side...we're going to be with each other for the rest of eternity. Imagine that. No longer do I have to worry about growing old and dying, while leaving you alone here."
"No Piya. I've wronged you. I destroyed you."
She looked up at him, into his swirling dark cobalt eyes. They were filled with shame and remorse. She cupped his face with one hand, propping herself up with the other.
"You've done nothing wrong Abhay. Nothing at all. I'm happy. I have you, so I'm not destroyed."
He stared into her chocolate brown eyes, which were glowing with a newly born joy and assurance. He pushed his pain aside to admire his love. Her already beautiful features sharpened. Her eyes were outlined by a thick set of lashes and her cheeks were fair as a baby's. Her silky black hair fell over her face, attempting the hide her unnatural beauty. Her eyes shone with the moonlight. Abhay lost himself in them, fully consumed by this beautiful goddess. He cupped her face in his rough hands and kissed her forehead. His lips lingered at her soft, fair skin.
Piya accepted his behavior as a sign of acceptance. She snuggled into his chest, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist. She inhaled his exotic scent, savoring it to the fullest. A small giggle escaped her lips
"You have forgiven me Piya?" Abhay asked. His voice was apprehensive.
"I was never mad. You made the right choice in this circumstance. I still love you." She replied. "Stop being so guilty Abhay. I don't like it."
"I won't. I promise." He said in a low tone.
He pulled out both rings from his pocket. They shone crimson red when the moonlight hit them. Piya watched in awe, looking up curiously at Abhay.
"What are these?"
"Daylight rings. One for each of us."
Abhay lifted Piya's left hand up and slide her ring onto her finger. The ring glowed all over, getting familiar with its new wearer. She did the same. She took Abhay's ring and slid it onto his finger. A wide smile formed on her lips.
They sat near the edge of the running stream, hand in hand, with Piya resting on Abhay's chest. The bright moonlight shone upon the two lovers, in their unbreakable bond. This one choice brought them together, that too for the rest of eternity.
(10 years later...)
Abhay watched his Piya quickly tear the wrapping paper off of her birthday gift. She unearthed a fancy box that would normally contain clothing in it. She tossed the lid off and found a purple and black dress inside. She picked it up with her fingers, running the silk cloth through them.
"Did you like it?"
"It's so beautiful Abhay! I love it!"
"Go and wear it. I want to see my princess in her birthday gown." He whispered into her ear.
Piya blushed and rushed into their bedroom, shutting the door behind her. The gown was floor length, strap less, and had multiple layers of cloth that flowed with her footsteps. It was a deep purple and black, complete with lace finishings on the edges. She twirled around in it, seemingly dancing to her own little beat.
Abhay fixated his gaze on his princess as she stepped carefully out into the open. His passionate desires drew him closer to her, the bare back and shoulders as bait. His cool lips brushed her soft, sensitive skin, leaving a tingling sensation on her body. Her breath hitched as Abhay reached her neck and bit down hard with his two razor like fangs. His lips moved in a wild sucking motion. He let go of her seconds later.
"You're sooo yummy." He murmured.
"No I'm not." She teased.
"Yes you are. For me at least."
"Abhay...heal me right this instance."
"Can't you heal yourself?" He said.
"I like it when you heal me. Please?"
"As you wish my love."
He did as instructed, running the tip of his tongue on the bite and massaging the mild discomfort out with his lips. Piya moaned in the feeling's sheer pleasure.
"What would my princess like to do next?" He asked, holding Piya from her waist.
"I don't know. Whatever my handsome prince planned for me." She said.
"Come." He replied. He lifted her into his arms and carried her out the door.
(Piya's POV)
The night was a rare one. Fireflies flew around the stream, liking miniature lanterns hanging on the tree branches. I walked amongst them, spreading my arms out like wings. Abhay walked up behind my and grabbed me by the waist, then lifting me up in the air and twirling me around.
"Abhay! Stop it." I said, giggling.
"Make me." He said.
I set me down and nuzzled my bare shoulders and neck. His lips grazed my exposed skin, sending sparks throughout my body.
"I love you Piya...more than my life." He murmured.
"I love you too Abhay." I said back.
He lifted me back in his arms and took me back inside, throwing me onto the bed. He quickly towered over me and forced his lips onto mine in a passionate kiss. His hand went for the zipper of my dress, tugging at it until it was unzipped completely. He pulled it off and threw it on the floor. My fingers went for the buttons of his shirt and jeans, throwing them off as well. We were completely naked, free from any materialistic barriers. He explored my body freely, kissing and making love bites on every soft spots. A low growl escaped his lips, his desire fueled to the highest. Our legs were entwined with each other. The night was young. We made love to each other until the intense passion died out. Abhay cuddled me in his arms until dawn, staring into my eyes and starting kissing sessions. I listened intently, admiring how cute he looked when his hair was messed up.
"Abhay...now do you regret your decision?"
"What decision?" He asked.
"Of turning me into a vampire?"
"I don't know...but right now...I'm not regretting it one bit." He said.
I snuggled closer to him, taking his hand in mine.
"I'm glad you did. I never have to leave you again." I said joyfully.
"And I won't let you leave me again. We're together...forever."
