Part 1The stars twinkled under the clear night sky, lighting up the atmosphere along with the dazzling full moon. Piya gazed at the bright white moon. She had been longing for this night for what seemed like ages. The cool breeze blew her long silky hair back. She closed her eyes, letting it gently brush against her delicate skin. She stood outside on her balcony, waiting for someone. Someone who was the inseparable piece of her heart. The thought of him made her heart flutter with excitement.
(Meanwhile...deep in the forest...)
An able-bodied man towered over the dead body of a wolf. It had its throat brutally torn out. Its blood was drained to the last drop. The man licked his blood smeared lips in satisfaction. He was still hungry, but the desire to see her quenched his bloodthirst. Newly emerged power surged through his veins. He felt unstoppable. The full moon and werewolf blood energized him. Nothing could stop him from meeting his love now. Not even a few revenge driven werewolves...or the barrier that separated them.
He put on his hood, concealing his entire face except his glowing cobalt eyes. He advanced towards his beloved's home, darting through the trees with his inhuman speed. He reached his destination within seconds. He held his hand and touched the air. He soon found the barrier. In deep concentration, he spread his hand over the barrier. A thick dark shadow enveloped his hand, moving though his fingers and possessing the portion of the barrier he was touching. The shadow burned though the barrier, allowing him to pass it with ease. This was only possible when a vampire's powers were at its peak, only on a full moon night.
"I'm coming Piya, your Abhay is coming." He whispered to himself.
Piya was feeling cold and impatient. She took the time to step inside and grab a soft woolen blanket. She wrapped it around her body and stood at the balcony once again. She imagined the blanket to be Abhay's strong embrace. She missed his presence every moment when it wasn't full moon night. He was only able to see her when the moon was whole.
She had no one else in her life except him. Her parents and sisters had died in a plane crash 10 years ago. Piya had been busy in some important work, which saved her from traveling with her family. Then Abhay came into her lonely life. She always felt a strong attraction towards him. He had loved her deeply inside, but always pushed her away, with the fear of hurting her. Because of what he was. A monster of the darkness, a vampire. Piya still accepted him regardless, and they were together since.
But the vampire council didn't approve of their relationship. They asked a powerful witch to set a barrier around Piya's home, which prevented Abhay to get to her. He could only pass it on full moon nights. He couldn't even meet her during the day, as the council confiscated his daylight ring.
Abhay continued his way through the trees, soon reaching Piya's balcony. There he saw her beautiful face again, a month later. He began to scale the large oak tree that overlooked her balcony. He leapt onto her balcony from the closest branch. Piya jumped. But soon a joyful smile decorated her face.
"Abhay!" She cried. She let the blanket drop off her shoulders and ran into his open embrace.
"I missed you my love." He crooned into her ear.
"I missed you too Abhay!" Piya said, soaking his shirt with her tears.
"Shhh...I hate tears." He said, wiping her wet eyes.
"I don't like this one bit. I only see you only once every month. I can't even cross the barrier because of thar vampire council. They will kill me if I do." Her lips trembled. "You know I can't live one second without you." She said, staring deeply into his eyes. The tears were returning.
"I know Piya. But even we have to make sacrifices. We went against nature and fell in love. A forbidden love always gets punished."
"But how long? Can't we become one someday?"
"We can. But that means sacrificing your human life and dragging you into my dark world. I could never do that." He turned away from her gaze.
"I would spend eternity in your darkness, by your side, rather than living alone in this empty house, only to see the love of my life 12 times in an entire year."
He wiped the fresh tears from her rosy cheeks and picked her up in his arms. He laid her down gently on the bed. He hovered over her. His eyes blazed their dark blue again. He stared into her eyes and compelled her to forget.
"Forget about all the bad things going on for a while and only concentrate on us. Only the two of us." He said hypnotically. Piya nodded in compliance.
Abhay leaned down towards her face. His cool breaths swept across her face. After exploring his beauty's face, he crushed his lips onto hers. She gave in to the kiss immediately. They both sucked passionately on each other's lips, not even pausing for a breath in between. Abhay snuck his tongue into Piya's mouth, touching the tip of her tongue. His taste sent her world spinning. She grabbed handfuls of his dark silky hair and pulled him closer to her body. The heat of passion rose between the two. The long separation prompted them to make up those lost moments all in one night.
Abhay pinned her down by both arms and explored her neck and collarbone. Piya bent her neck back, letting him explore every inch of her. He kissed and bit the soft skin on her neck, Piya moaning in response. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled the delicious scent of fresh human blood. His sharp fangs slid out in reaction to his returned bloodlust. Piya understood what he wanted and nodded. He sunk his fangs into her neck and sucked the warm blood out of her system. Piya's body jerked in pain. She disliked the pain, but loved the joy of giving Abhay what he wanted and needed the most after her, blood. She let him drink from her a few times before, when Abhay was so lost in his bloodlust that he lost all senses and went wild.
His cold lips canceled out the burning sensation she felt from the wound. He ran his tongue over the bite after he was finished. The wound instantly vanished, as did any pain Piya felt. He turned her head back to face his. He rested his head on hers, so close that the tips of their noses touched.
"You are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. You know that?" He whispered.
"Mmmhmmm." She murmured.
"I promise you Piya, the next time I come...will be the time I make you mine...forever. No more separation." He said possessively.
He laid his ear over Piya's heart, listening to its soft and steady beat. Her heartbeats were like music to his ears. He felt like he was alive while listening to them. She ran her fingers through his hair, stroking it with her thumb, like he was a little child.

(Meanwhile...back in the forest)
Three hooded men stood in the clearing. They were discussing something.
"Our plan to separate them has failed. We thought she would move on seeing the circumstances, but that girl won't budge!" One growled in anger.
"Their bond is strong. Very strong. But we have to break it. We want power. Everyone else want our secrets to remain under wraps. Kill them both, and all will be well. Our leader will be satisfied with the girl's death."
"What shall we do to deal with this problem?"
"We'll have to kill her." He said in a menacing tone. One glared at him.
"What!? Do you realize what you are saying?!" He hissed. "Abhay won't spare us. He is stronger than the majority of vampires in the clan. It won't take him a minute to finish us all."
"No he won't be able to. Three against one. He will lose, and we will become higher in the eyes of our leader." He declared. The other two thought about it.
"Alright.." They said.
(Back at Piya's house.)
It was 2 am. Piya was trying her best to stay awake, fighting her drowsiness and drooping eyelids. She rested her head on Abhay's now bare chest.
"Piya, please go to sleep. I'm not going anywhere." He assured.
"No!" She shouted. Her arms encircled his waist, locking her hands together. "I don't want to waste any moment." She said. "Only 3 more hours..." Tears formed in her beautiful brown eyes.
"Piya...you're talking as if I'm never going to see you again." He said, wiping her tears.
"But I don't want you to leave me!" She cried. Abhay leaned in a gave her a kiss on her soft lips. She kissed him back, savoring the moment while it lasted.
(At the vampire council...)
"Sire, he still has relations with that human girl. This could prove dangerous for us." He hoped that he would get orders to kill Piya.
"I know of it." He said.
"What shall we do about it?"
"Summon Abhay. I wish to speak to him."
"Yes sire." The man bowed and exited the pavilion. He was growing impatient.
(Back at Piya's home..)
"Piya...I have something for you." Abhay whispered. "A parting gi..."
"Hush!" She cut him off. "We will always be together. Got that?"
"Forever." He said, kissing her forehead.
He pulled out a small satin cloth from his jean pocket, which was hiding something inside. He lifted each corner of the cloth, revealing a simple necklace, the main piece being a lustrous crimson red ruby. It sparked in the shining moonlight. Piya rubbed her thumb against the priceless gem. It was smooth as glass.
"Abhay, this is beautiful."
"As beautiful as you." He said.
"Thank you so much!" She said, throwing her arms around his neck.
Abhay fixed the necklace around her neck. The tips of his fingers grazed the back of her neck. She shuddered.
"This will protect you. While I'm away. A vampire's talisman."
"But I know you will always protect me."
"Still...you can never be too cautious." He said.
Dawn was soon approaching. Abhay was hesitant to leave Piya. He had an intuition that something was going to happen to her.
Something sinister was brewing behind his back. As much as he wanted to stay back, he couldn't.
Abhay had put Piya to sleep, promising to wake her up when he leaves. She resembled a sweet innocent child while she slept, free from any stress or tension. Abhay spent the rest of his time admiring her beauty. He was lucky to have her as his mate. His eternal soulmate.
(2 hours later...)
"Piya...wake up sleeping beauty." Abhay whispered into her ear.
His cool breath tickled the side of her face and she opened her eyes. A small smile adorned her face.
"Feeling better?" He asked. She nodded.
"Abhay...come back soon. I want to stay with you...forever."
"I will...I will find a way to be with you..." He said, cupping her face in his hands.
"Promise?"
"You still have doubts?" He chuckled, then took a minute to admire her. "Promise."
"And if you don't...I'll find someone else."
That sentence sparked Abhay's possessive side. His eyes blazed dark blue.
"If you do...I will rip that guy's throat out and drain every last drop of his blood. You belong to me and only me." He said in a possessive manner.
"Relax Abhay...I was only teasing you."
"I know. But I wanted to remind you. You belong to me. No one else can take my Piya from me."
"And I don't want anyone to take me from you." She said lovingly. "Now where is my good bye kiss?"
"Right here my love."
He pressed his lips onto hers once more. Not in a passionate, wild kiss...but for a more soft, subtle kiss. Their lips were glued together, sucking lightly on each other.
"I love you Piya."
"I love you too Abhay." They murmured to each other between breaths.
Abhay broke the kiss shortly afterwards. He retrieved his shirt from the corner and slipped it back on. Piya got out of bed to see him off.
"I really wish you could stay. I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you more." He said.
Abhay leapt off the balcony and stepped towards the forest. He turned back and gave Piya a flying kiss. She happily accepted it. She clutched the necklace in her hand and watched Abhay vanish into the darkness.

(Vampire council...)
Abhay walked casually into the cold stony hallways of the council's abode. He had been mysteriously summoned to meet the leader after a long time. The other vampires stared at him scornfully, while some laughed.
"So foolish of him...falling in live with a human." One female said, snickering I'm the corner with another.
He shot them venomous glares, hands balled up into tight fists. They flinched back in caution. Messing with him would mean certain death for them. Abhay was capable of killing 10 supernaturals at once without getting even a scratch. The entire clan knew of the strength he possessed.
He continued forward to the large chamber of their leader. It was empty, except for a tall cloaked figure facing the large portrait on the wall. The heavy doors closed behind Abhay.
"You wished to see me sire?"
"Yes I did." He answered. "It's concerning that human girl you have relation with."
"Piya...her name is Piya." Abhay said firmly. He hated when she was referred to "that human girl".
"Very well. Now to the important matter."
"What?"
"Some of the clan members are disapproving of your closeness to her. They feel it is dangerous to keep her alive when she knows of our existence."
Abhay's anger increased two-fold. He wanted to kill them.
"I don't care a damn about what they think! No one is laying a finger on her!"
"Calm down Abhay and think. Imagine the day if she mistakenly opens her mouth and reveals our secrets. That's the end for all of us."
"She would never do that. She realizes how important it is to hide this secret."
"Still...we can't take any risk. I propose two solutions to this situation: either she must be killed or she has to become one of us."
He froze. Either choice would snatch Piya's precious human life from her. Either death or eternal suffering as a vampire. He didn't like either.
"Sorry...but I can't pick either. Do all you can, but I can't see her be harmed in any way. I'll be there to protect her."
"Don't worry. Nothing untoward shall happen to her. The decision lies with you. I give you a months time. Till the next full moon." He turned his back towards Abhay. "I'll be waiting for your answer."
Abhay left in a huff from the council building, heading to his home, a small cottage hidden deep in the woods. He walked in and slammed the door shut. The entire house rattled with the force.
Her words replayed in his mind over and over again, as did his promise to take her soon.
"I would spend eternity in your darkness, by your side, rather than living alone in this empty house, only to see the love of my life 12 times in an entire year."
He wanted to spend all eternity with her, but he didn't want to be selfish. Throwing her life away like that was wrong. She had her whole life ahead of her. He didn't want to subject her trapping her in complete darkness forever.
But he certainly couldn't kill her...he loved her. She gave him life. She made his dead heart beat once more.
In utter frustration, Abhay slammed his knuckles into the wall. Hairline cracks formed all over it, the bits of wall crumbling and falling off.
He had to do something, before they resorted to harming Piya.
