A Night to Remember

Raichand Mansion-
Arrangements were going in full swing for tonight's party.
Haseena was giving last minute instructions.
Upstairs abhay was getting ready for the party. He reluctantly picked a shirt from the closet and weared it,when his I-phone buzzed, he took the call,it was kate. 'hii!! Baby! Are you ready?'she asked rather excitedly. 'ya almost, when r'u coming?' 'o'I will b reaching soon!...um..a..abhay..all the top most directors r coming!? Aren't they??'..'yes'..replyied abhay. After finishing the call,abhay left a sigh thinking that both are so different,he was nt willing to attend the party but kate wanted to meet the directors, so he had to agree for her sake! He recalled one such day,when they had a freshers party in college, he used to b different then and he loved to party nd to hang out with friends was his favourite pastime.
'hey..abhay!.. look at this painting! The use of dark nd light shades r so marvellous na?!! no wonder it's a Pablo Picasso painting afterall !!'...pia had said excitedly. 'hun''abhay had replied. Umm'abhay party starts from 7pm. Na?'..'ya..y?' 'ok..come lets go!',pulling abhay's hand pia had taken him to the car nd had him forced to drive. 'But where?', He had asked her. 'To the party offcourse!',was pia's reply. 'But pia u dnt like parties,then y? for me? Right? No..pia! you dnt have to do this!'..'abhay! comeon! Dnt be so formal!if you can attend a painting exhibition for me, which I know very well ,bores you till death,then y cnt i??!!'.. but how? I didn't say anything!?...' 'one look at your eyes and I know what you want! Got it Mr.abhay?!' 'abhay who had a broad smile on his face,had replied that time,'sure! I forgot,that my marshmellow knows me inside-out!'',and how they both had laughed! The melody of her giggle was still fresh,echoing in his ears!
'Abhay!', the voice of chand brought him back to reality. Abhay turned to face his father..'yes dad? Chand smiled, 'wow! My son is ready to kill han!!' a faint smile appeared on his face. So,are you ready? And when is kate coming?', 'ya..hm,she will b reaching soon!', 'that's great!', 'abhay,I'm very happy for both of you! I like your choice! Kate is perfect!',chand patted his back. 'hm..ya..thanks dad!', was all abhay could say! 'ok..then come downstairs as soon as possible,guests will b arriving any moment now!',saying the last words chand left.
The big party-
The grand hall of raichand mansion,was regally decked up for the exclusive high end party. The dcor was subtle and flowers were tastefully used.
The glamour quotient was high as it proved to be a roll call for the city's movers and shakers. From top entrepreneurs to Bollywood stars,the party was a celebrity sprangled affair. The food basket-all vegetarian was a multi cuisine spread with the best of indian, Italian, Lebanese, Mexican and continental delicacies. Footfall was also high at the counters serving exotic fruits and desserts. The bar lounge was at the last end corner of the hall,with all kinds of expensive liquor. It was Truly an affair to remember.
At the university-
Her hands were carefully keeping the slides one by one into the practical box.She had the bonniest eye,and sweetest smile with long black hair tied into a bun. Tora looked at her watch and murmured,'oh..its almost past 7,and I'm still hooked up here! God,I have to attend the party!risa must b waiting nd moreover'thought tora in her mind, 'piya!,yes,pia will be there! I will meet her after a long time! Oh..i have missed her a lot!'..tora sighed and a faint yet lovely smile crept on her face. And she started to hurry.
Raichand mansion-
Dressed in a light cream shirt covered with a maroon coat and matching trousers, abhay raichand looked suave.
Abhay was busy welcoming the guests,when his eyes fell on Risa. He became sad nd disturbed,thinking of how bad he had behaved with her in the past, and if today his adorable sister was avoiding him,then it was only his fault.he did hurt her a lot. He wished,he could undo everything!
His thoughts were interrupted as his eyes caught the sight of an unexpected surprise,that he had least expected! Abhay just kept looking,without blinking and unable to move. It was difficult to explain what he felt. His life which seemed like an oasis full of thorn,moments before was now a paradise. His eyes flickering an image of pain,agony,lonliness and anger,so deep that it almost veiled the love,care,longing he had for her.
Her beautiful black hair coiled into a bun,with her wringlets falling from the corner,making her already beautiful face,radiating a glow of thousand shinning stars. A pair of diamond studded earings were blazing from her ears. The emerald green full length gown gracefully covering her slender figure captured everyone's attention towards her. The most beautiful girl who looked nothing less than a princess!!
Pia's eyes were looking for risa,when her eyes met the ocean blues, the sadness was instantly replaced with a sudden joy of happiness. But it lasted for only few moments,as abhay averting his gaze,turned his face and walked away. Her face which was happy,once again was overshadowed with sadness and despair!
Abhay was again busy in greeting people as he was instructed by chand to welcome the guests.his face had a sudden change of emotion. No it didn't show any overwhelming joy or happiness but rather bore the same expression,where emotions were hardly visible. But something did change! His life was now full of light! 'does that mean ,his life was dark till now??!!',wondered abhay. A faint ray of hope could be seen on his handsome face,which offcourse was a rare thing nowadays. Abhay didn't intend to leave,he wanted to keep looking at her, and he had so many things to ask! He wanted to walk to her and say..and'say? but.. what??!!,he asked himself,nt knowing exactly y , what he wanted?! Was he happy? Or was he sad? Or was it anger that changed something inside him??!! The answer seemed so easy yet so difficult!!
Abhay looked at pia again,who was now talking to one of their close friends.
Pia was talking to rajeeb,with a smiling face. But deep inside there was sadness and pain. 'abhay didn't even look at me properly and here I was thinking of mending our broken friendship! I'm dreaming an absurd dream,that can never b possible',reprimanded pia, still unaware of the fact that the moment she had stepped inside abhay's eyes never left her!!
'Pia!!oh..you came!!','happiness was clearly evident in that voice,which brought pia back from her thoughtful world. She turned back only to find,risa standing infront of her,with the most beautiful smile,that was her trademark. Pure joy was clearly visible,in her beautiful hazel blue eyes. 'risa! Oh..how couldn't i??!! you ask and I wnt,has that happened ever??!!',' 'aww..thats so true!!',risa held pia's hand as a gesture of overwhelming emotion. 'I was looking for you! Where were you?and what made you so late? You know,I only came here at your request,but..', she stopped. Risa knew what she meant,so she said, I'm sorry dear! What to do!the publisher is calling now nd then!so'', 'ohh'its ok risa! I just'you know na why!! But wait! The new fiction,you were working on has finished? The book is launching?is it??!!', risa nodded,smiling, 'wow..m so happy! Y didn't you tell me before? So unfair of you! Pia showed fake anger nd they both laughed heartily.
Kate was in hurry to reach raichand mansion as soon as possible. She instructed her driver to drive fast. 'I cant afford abhay to b drawn towards that b***h and her fake innocence and beauty!',muttered kate in pure hatred and jealousy.
'but where is tora??risa,you said she is coming!! Then where is she??,demanded pia worriedly. 'um..dnt know pia! Even I'm wondering y she has nt arrived yet!! I called her twice and she said,she had finished her lab work and was on her way!', 'hm..ok. ya,I know how dedicated she is..!',concluded pia.
'oh..you have came beta! Come..come,what took you so long? I was asking abhay about you!',chand's voice was loud enough to draw pia and risa's attention. Both of them looked towards the door and saw kate standing there in a revealing attire, and giving a broad smile to chand. But before their face could show any reaction,abhay appeared and kate clasping his hand with hers,walked into the party!
Kate was busy show casing their so called love relation!
Pia was constantly watching them. The way she was sticking to abhay,resting her head on his shoulder,with her hands still clutching him,was creating a feeling of humiliation and dispondency,rather than just jelousy! After a while pia averted her gaze and moved her attention towards rajeeb,their old friend, who was talking about his newly launched magazine.
Abhay clenched his fists,trying hard to control the unfamiliar emotions that were tormenting him from inside. He wanted to tell her..apologise to her..to..to..but..was that all?? No! he wanted answers..all those answers that didn't allow him to have a peace of mind even for a minute,during all these months!..he..he wanted his peace back and he felt only pia had the answers!!...
