Chapter-2

Echoes Of Joy And Tears

The phone rang for the umpteenth time and fell silent but abhay didn't bother picking it up. He leaned back on the headrest, rolling down the windows, feeling suffocated as a memory came back to him,of a day like this...when Piya had been with him,and their car had broken down on their way back home..he remembered the cute little fight.."U'r car is just like u..useless."she'd said, and she'd stepped out of the car just as he'd been about to catch her. The rain had started just then, and the two of them had chased each other in the rain, water droplets from her hair hitting his face...abhay felt a wave of nostalgia grip him..he felt as though someone has placed a huge burden on his heart. He longed for those days when he and Piya and Tora, the third member of their trio would meet over weekends for some time together. Their friendship had been so awesome...or had it just been friendship?? True,piya had been his first and Best friend,ever since childhood. Her face sprung beside his in every memory that he had..but that was all-or was it?? why did he feel that a piece of his life was missing..y did his world seem so lonely...was there something he had missed? something that had become prominent in her absence??

Tora threw the crumpled piece of paper on the floor..this was the third time in two hours,when her mind had gone blank while writing the report. She sighed,leaning back on the chair unseeingly staring outside the window.It had been the same ...ever since...Tora gave another sigh and fished out her mobile from her pocket, a small sad smile reaching her lips as she saw her wallpaper..a picture of abhay,piya and herself laughing carefree,at the camera. She gently ran a thumb over the screen "Where did those days go?" she whispered..

Risa Raichand sighed,her soft gray eyes sad as she thought about her fight with her brother a week ago. She missed talking to him. But after what had happened last week she had to step in to defend piya. She only wished abhay had understood her."It was for ur own good dear brother "she thought." I hope you will realize that one day..and i will wait for that day,for u to choose what is right"..

Piya brought her car to a stop, and stepped out, grabbing her purse and the little gift for Ayush.She plastered a smile on her face as she approached the house and knocked on the door.The door immediately flung wide open and a little boy gave a squeal of delight on seeing her."Piya di,you came!"Piya smiled more genuinely on seeing him. "how could i not come to my little rockstar's birthday'?"she said,handing him the gift,happy to see his enthusiasm.She bent down and quickly planted a kiss on his cheek.She heard a familiar voice call out to her over the music and the noise."Alina di!"said Piya, smiling as she moved towards her,Alina was her elder sister's age and had been their neighbour till two years ago and they had become good friends during that time."ria didn't come with u?"she asked."no,alina di,i came straight from work"said Piya,hesitatingly,as she knew it wasn't true.."They will come later.i have to go now. i just dropped in to wish ayush".

Ayush nw had gone inside,so it was just the two of them there."u r leaving already?"asked alina, by surprised and disappointed."but u just came!".."i'll cum soon again alina di"said piya quickly"..actually i have a photoshoot early tomorrow morning and i have some work left".."oh" said alina,"in that case i won't stop u.bt promise to visit again soon".

After promising to visit her soon and saying goodbye to ayush piya drove away her mind on tomorrow's photoshoot. Abhay and Kate would be there as well,she thought uneasily. She'd been avoiding Abhay even more ever since last week. The fight between them had been inevitable. Piya knew that kate was abhay's gf and it was expected that he would support her,bt it had hurt somewhere.Abhay was still the best friend she would ever have and she knew that she should be happy to see him in love. But tears fell from her eyes of their own accord,a pain twisted her inside when she remembered how easy life had been before Kate had come.
