Chapter 17

The sound of two pair of feet's tapping disturbed Armaan. After having enough of it, he looked up and asked irritated, "What?"

Abhay and Pia replied together, "What?"

It was a day later and after school, Abhay and Pia waited for him to tell their result of the long questionnaire they had taken.

Pia asked separately, "So, can we help?"

Armaan 'Hmm-ed.' Pia asked, "What hmm? Is it yes or no?"

Armaan got up and walked a couple of steps facing his back to them. He then turn to look at them and replied uncertainly, "You know what I find interesting? You both always fight and still get things done when needed. By your answers, it's hard to tell if you were thinking about your own likes while answering the question or the others."

Abhay complained, "What? That makes no sense. What you just said."

He half sat on the bench and asked them to sit as well. They sat on the opposite side and then he went on to explain, "You see, your answers don't reflect each of you individually at all. Based on how much I've noticed you both, it feels like you," pointing at Pia, "were answering questions while Abhay in mind and vice versa. It was as if both of you were conscious."

Pia refused to believe that. "That's silly. Why will I be thinking about him?"

Armaan commented back, "I don't know. You tell me."

Pia got quiet. How could she tell when he was the psychologist, not her?! She looked at Abhay, who looked back at her, and she was ever more confused. Looking back at Armaan, she took up and sighed in frustration, "I don't know okay? That's for you to figure out. Now can I just know if I can help or not? His decision is up to him."

Armaan got up and walked back to his desk. "Fine, I can't find a reason to not let you both. Work starts after your practice tomorrow."

"Practice?" Pia asked.

"Yea, the ball practice." Abhay replied.

She remembered, "Oh yea. That. Well, I have projects due, so…"

"Right." Abhay said getting up and they both left the room and went towards the parking lot. The car disappeared on the road.

The next morning, Abhay caught up to Pia as she walked to her class and decided to tease around a bit. "So you were thinking about me while taking that test, huh?"

"What? No!" she exclaimed, still refusing to accept that. In fact, she had questioned that to herself the night before and realized that she in fact was. Unknowingly, she had been connecting all the questions to Abhay and answering them accordingly. Still, she had decided to not accept that. At least not till she figured out why she had done what she done.

To dodge any other question that he would throw at him, she said, "Uh, I told Maya I'd help her out with the decorations. So see you later."

She ran away from there and Abhay watched her go with a grin planted on her face.

Abhay complained to Pia as she maintained her distance while they practiced, "You think the dance will look good when you're that far away?"

Pia said, "Fine." And took a small step closer to him. "Good?"

As a response to that, Abhay pulled her closer to him, till her stomach was no more than less than a cm away from his. He whispered, "Much better."

Pia looked down, not wanting to look into his eyes. They were too close according to Pia. She let out a low gasp but continued. They swayed to the sensational music playing and Abhay twirled her. Her back now faced him. His hands around her waist and over hers.

She stayed quiet and just let him lead her. She wasn't in mood for heart vs. mind talk and so shut off everything.

Abhay and Pia entered Armaan's room to find unknown people staring back at them. Pia asked, "Uh… who are they?"

Armaan answered, "They're the control group. You guys first have to help me with them and then the independent variable. Just have a look at this and it'll explain everything to you. Meanwhile, I'll run out to my car and get this… yea, you don't need to know. Just don't read anything out loud."

Saying that, he left. Abhay and Pia looked at each other and sat down to read, shrugging their shoulders.

That's the 1st installment. Will complete it soon. No promise when. Still need to plan out the rest. Like I know what will happen but I need to describe current things to get there. Make sense? 😛

Lovely update Khushi! Love Armaan for getting these two close together. Abhay is still accepting his own feelings but Piya wants to deny them. I hope Armaan is able to help Piya accept and own her feelings towards Abhay
