Chapter 7Aarti sat back into her seat in the bus ride to college. So much changed in the last two years. Aman left to the US, Aakash and Mansi got engaged and it was Aarti's last week at college. She has exams after that and then she is done with her BA. She was also waiting eagerly for her application results in the US. She wanted to pursue a diploma one year program in Animation Graphic design. She was an artist by heart and thats where her passion was. There was a good potential for graphic designers in India too with the creative design domain picking up. She got down the bus and saw Aakash and Mansi pull in on his bike. Aakash had already graduated, but he would drop Mansi off every day on his way to work. He started working at the Scindia & Sons company as a junior structural engineer..."Aarti, there you are my darling!" screamed Mansi and pulled her friend to a quick hug..."Hey Aakash, hey Mansi..what are you love birds upto??" she winked at them.
"Yaar you are too much. Ok, I'll pick you up at 5pm then. Bye ladies" left Aakash.
"Get married soon Mansi, I dont want it to be like I am in the US and then I miss your wedding"
"No way, I am not getting married if you cant make it Aarti. I want Aman also here. If that idiot doesnt come, then I'll get married in the US - western style!!"
The two friends laughed heartily.
"Did you hear back from any university yet?"
.."not yet Mansi, I am hoping by next week..wish me luck!"
"All the best Aarti, your dream will come true. I know this! and I am still stuck here for another year!" she pouted. "But you will get married to Aakash soon." she winked...and pinched her friend. Mansi blushed and they dispersed to get into their respective classes.
"Yash, come here for a minute please.." Pankaj called out to Yash...Yash saw his whole family at the dining table..."what? why is everyone here at the same time..is everything ok" asked Yash with concern. "Everything is fine bhaiyya, come sit down" said Prateek.
"Yash, I wanted all of us to talk as a family. You are doing great in your career. Prateek is also now settled. I am proud of him, for being the executive chef at one of the top hotels in Bhopal. Beta Yash, now you need to settle down. Dr. Shankar is happy with your work on the outhouse. He invited us all over to the temple for a puja. In fact, he wants you to meet his daughter. Yash, Dr. Shankar asked us if we are willing to make his daughter our daughter-in-law..."
"Bauji...I.."
"Yash, I asked Prateek already to find out if you were interested in anyone. As far as he knows, there is no one. But if there is indeed anyone, please let us know now." an anxious Gayathri said.
"As you wish Ma"...he got up and left to work.
The family was elated. Yash had agreed to meet the girl, and knowing Yash, they knew this alliance was going to happen. Vidhi and Gayathri were excited and started talking about wedding shopping. "Vidhi, I want to deck up my Payal and Palak for Yash's wedding...my princesses should like a real princess!" said Gayathri proudly..."Ma, let him meet the girl first" Pankaj cautioned his mom.
Yash had mixed feelings about the whole thing. Was he ready, who was this girl...? He was irritated and drove faster...he stopped at a temple to clear his head.
As he finished praying to god and opened his eyes. He saw a girl staring at him with confused eyes...Yash blinked at her and looked at her in question.
"sorry, neenga en dupatta mitikkalam" (for readers: sorry, you are stepping on my dupatta)"huh?" blinked Yash even further...he had no clue what she said.
"So sorry, sometimes i forget who am I talking to...you are stepping on my dupatta" she told him.
Yash took a step back suddenly almost losing his balance...when she caught onto him.."oops, careful mister...are you ok?"
A strong gust of wind blew and looked at each other intensely...
"Aarti!"...
"Idho varein..." (for readers: yeah, here I come)Looking for more encouragement, comments and likes my friends - it helps me to be motivated to continue further. Edited by ng_cooltools - 11 years ago
