Yash-Aarti-Ansh/Palak/Payal
- This song can be interpreted in a few ways, but if I look at the transitions of the portions that are shown, I see a thin thread connecting Yash, Aarti, and Ansh in a rather interesting way. Possibly. Just a few thoughts out loud because they caught my attention:
- "Dil hai kahin aur dhadkan hai kahin..." - Ansh is the heart, Yash is the one for whom that little heart beats - Yash is the one who embodies those heartbeats...and connected to them is Aarti, to whom Palak and Payal are connected...
- "Saansein hai magar main zinda kyun nahi...?" - Aarti's breaths (her daughters, perhaps) are with her, but she is not complete without her heart and those heartbeats - her Ansh and his Papa. Like living corpses, Yash and Aarti cannot live without their children, just like those three little ones (and the fourth) depend on their parents...:

@gafulu14: Thanks! 😊
@bharathisamy: Do I? Thank you. Well, I hope that my thoughts made this MS episode slightly better...🤔 I'm trying my best to see what can be salvaged...
@pal_2010: Thank you for reading! I know, there has been a lot of disappointment all around...I am not ecstatic about the way Friday's episode went, but the damage has been done, so to speak. It's all about how our creatives are able to recover from this now...And for that, we have to wait. Might as well look for some positives while we wait.
@luv_lvndr: Thank you very much! 😊
@Sabrina: I don't know if I would call this an "analysis" since this is more like me searching for a flickering light that will lead us to the end of the tunnel...But thank you, Sabrina! 😊
@RA17: Thank you so much for breaking your silence! I really appreciate the comments. 😳 I agree that this is not our PV - not the one that we know and love - but I am just immensely thankful that there was not too much ridiculousness. The stuff that was shown, I could handle since I knew our directors weren't in charge of every detail...Sad, but what to do now? It definitely could have been a debacle, but I don't think it was that bad. Agree about the romantic moment at the end. It was sweet, but not soul-touching, as you so aptly put it! It was...characteristic of the people who conceptualized and executed it. I will hopefully write more about that later!
@sunitha02: Thank you! This is my small attempt to search for meaning in the middle of chaos. Trying...Don't know if it means anything, but it makes me feel a little better because I feel like the PV cast was trying to keep the normalcy intact to tide everyone through the MS episodes. I couldn't ignore that effort!

I don't know how you do it and how you do it EVERY SINGLE TIME! There hasn't been a single commentary of yours that I haven't liked Borna. Every single one has been superb but this one, this one takes the cake. You know why? Because I saw a totally different episode while reading your commentary. It felt as though I was watching an episode that was directed by our directors. An episode that I detested turned into an episode which I have to go and watch again and that my dear, is your magic! You are right, so right, the nuances were there and would always be there as well because our actors have been directed by ace directors. They can't forget or let go of that because of a day of stupid direction. *no offence to any 4L fans* I guess the direction pissed me off so bad that I overlooked those nuances so a second viewing is surely needed!

I don't know exactly what I'm doing either, but if it makes you happy, then you're welcome! And thank you for reading all my commentaries, Anu! 🤗
@bold: Okay, now this is an interesting comment. An episode that elicited so many bewildered, disappointed, crest-fallen, aghast responses from quite a few PV Forum members...an episode that I thought I wouldn't have much to say about...this episode's write-up takes the cake? How does that even work, Anu?! 😕 😆 I am extremely humbled by your support, so thank you immensely for reading through all my jumbled thoughts.
My "magic" is not magic...It is merely an attempt to look for light in the middle of darkness. I'm trying to take what we do have from these episodes and attempting to understand it all without overanalyzing out of context, because it is oh so easy to say, "I wish this, I wish that...If only..." but it is harder to look at something that fell below our high expectations and to find the positives there. Yes, the damage was done, but there must have been parameters and limitations (not limited to this episode only, but especially evident in this one) that the PHs had to deal with. Those nuances are what have prevented me from writing off any episode of PV to date. There is always something that I latch on to because it helps me feel what a certain character is going through. If there were no positives in this episode at all, then I wouldn't be here writing this, complete with a "To Be Continued..." tacked onto the end! For what they're worth, my observations and thoughts are out there. Take them or leave them, I'm okay with either.

And you have more! I can't wait to read about the lag ja gale sequence because what the other PH did was really unforgivable! Let's see how you salvage it. =P
I do have more...I don't know how that's going to go...Let's see...I may salvage it, I may not. In all likelihood, I may end up finding some sort of middle ground.

Oh god, what are the Mittals made of? How can they deliver such excellent episodes back to back?! Kudos to them!
That just reminded me of one of my most favorite Hindi serial scenes and its dialogues! 😃 But I echo your questions as well! People may be concerned about the hurried pace, but look at what the PH has done so far...I have no reason to lose faith.

Tackling a response to this comment right now, so that I won't have to reply to a monster-sized one later! 😉
WORD about the nuances. In one of the BTS segments that was posted about the dhaba scene, it looked like Kratika was expressing concern about her dialogues and actions...Of course the video was cut right there, just as she was about to continue speaking. It was nice to see what appeared to be some attempt at a feedback/input dialogue between the director and an actor.

I agree on that Para where u said this is our PV 👍🏼.. So true , we r used to watch these subtle emotional and intense scenes in our PV with much OTT drama .. what binds us to PV is that beautiful play of emotions and connection that we feel with each of the characters and I loved the way night scene was handled where Aarti is longing for Ansh while Yash spending whole night shivering in cold outside Dubey house but all for his son Ansh ...awww 😳😳.. Gurmeet and Kratika were amazing there and I even lvoed that hug of comfort in court later after they win the case ... it was such an emotional hug coming from both after both r overwhlmed to win the case 😳😳

I m waiting for your lag jaa gale dissection and analysis now 😉😳😳

Oh, thank you so much Jyo! Embarrassed
It's funny that when you read and reviewed this, I hadn't gotten very far into the episode at all! Now there is even more posted and I'm still not even close to getting to A-Mangalpur! 😕 😆 Never-ending story, this one. I'm going to cry khushi ke aansoon when I'm done with this MS, I'm sure. Either that or I'll collapse.
Creative juices? Whatever are you talking about? I'm not creative! The people who came up with the fantastic holiday idea are creative. They gave our Yash-Aarti a holiday, but look at how dedicated Gurmeet and Kratika are...They still tried to keep their characters' personalities preserved! But I did love watching the Making of Lag Jaa Gale! Embarrassed It was so cute!
@bold: I couldn't agree more! Clap Ah, this show. It is so lovely. And a very impressive feat of storytelling and casting, given all the hoops the team is having to jump through still!
(You meant "without much OTT drama" right?)
Aww, I love all those moments that you mentioned! 😃 Very touching! I wrote about them just a little while ago (the courtroom scenes, finally!) so that happy hug is etched in my mind now.
*sigh* Lag Jaa Gale analysis? Baap re baap, you are expecting too much. I can promise a commentary about the Making of the song sequence and about the song sequence itself. Analysis...I'm not so sure!
Thank you so, so much for reading! Thanks for the lovely comments, too! 🤗

Borna, I haven't seen the episode yet, but your detailing of Gurmeet and Kratika's acting is so exquisite. 👏

The nuances are probably there, but it's hard to see them in one or two viewings. That is usually never a problem with our episodes, since things aren't as rushed.

Ah, gotcha! Which means Part 1 will need a little more patience. Some of the little things, though, that seem to retain some essence of PV based on your description:

...Oh, and the way Palak and Payal immediately ask Yash whether they'll be going with Ansh, too...The closeness of the siblings is heartwarming! Love all those nuances!

I'm glad they had this. These three little cutie pies have come such a long way.

I really like how Aarti instantly takes Yash's hand into her own, while his fingers wrap around hers reflexively. She looks at their hands for a moment, looking up at her husband to quietly request him to take care of himself...He nods and blinks slowly, his mouth twitching ever so slightly in a hint of a reassuring smile.

And

Another tiny thing I noticed is that when Aarti turns away from Yash, she holds onto his hand for as long as possible before she has to walk away and let go. It seems as if she is clutching his hand, even squeezing it, maybe. Ah, the way her face falls and clouds over as she turns away...the way Yash's face loses its serene smile as soon as her hand leaves his...the pain that spreads across his face as he swallows, watching his Aartiji walk away from him, entrusting him to stay with their son, their Ansh...Aarti is truly Yash's support if Ansh, Palak, and Payal are the ones who complete their lives. She provides stability and solace for him as much as he does for her. I initially didn't notice the way that, as soon as Kratika left the frame, Gurmeet stood motionless and swallowed as if it was slightly difficult to do so...Such small details that stand out, such touching performances by Kratika and Gurmeet in this short scene!

This is why I'm so glad Yash and Aarti are in Gurmeet and Kratika's capable hands.

The "Kyun Main Jaagoon" scene is the one I really want to see. From the moment I read about it on Friday's LUs, it sounded as if it drew upon the essence of not only PV, but who Yash and Aarti are as parents, and the kind of bond they've developed as a family. They've reached a point where, unless told, you'd never know that Ansh wasn't Yash's biological son and Palak and Payal weren't Aarti's biological daughters. So good.

I love how you were able to go through that court scene fiasco, and remain so detailed and objective. I'll have to see it myself tomorrow and finally decide for myself how I feel.

Something I noticed in the middle of all the random, confusing, pointless shots...Possibly one of the only meaningful moments that actually managed to make a little bit of sense to me: We hear Yash's voice, calling out to Ansh gently...Ansh is terrified of the figure and runs away, only to be accosted by the other figure, Prashant. While Yash reaches out to Ansh and requests for his son to come to him gently, Prashant tries to scoop up the boy, issuing what comes across to me as more of a command than a request. Yash doesn't try to control Ansh against his will...For Prashant, it's all about making Ansh come to him and stay with him...

Really nice observation. The point behind the test is understandable, but the whole set-up still gives me the creeps.

You've done a superb job with this, Borna, and I haven't even watched the episode yet! I'll have to make another trip here when I finally get a chance to watch. 😛

@padmavar: Thank you, thank you for reading! It was surprising, but cathartic, in a way! I'm feeling much more optimistic about next week!
@Jac: You read this? All of it? Without watching the episode? 😲 Kyun?!
I'm sure you know that QH was the focus in Part 1...There's quite a lengthy chunk of it that I obviously didn't write about, since I don't follow the show.

@Jac: Thank you so much! I really appreciate the time you put into reading this!
Exquisite? 🤔 I am tempted to say, "Jhoot, sab jhoot!" 😆 I feel like I was just rambling the entire time, since these things are more like running commentaries than anything else...But thank you, that means a lot coming from someone as observant as you are, Jac. I seriously thought I would have next to nothing to say about the episode when I caught a few of the LUs, but then when I saw it for myself, so many things started to catch my eye, in spite of the fleeting focus of the camera during our show's portions. It took some adjusting, since it's been quite a while since I watched those types of shows, but I think I found a middle ground well enough. Kind of hard to do, once you're used to a slower pace that actually allows for story movement at the same time...
I love the way you quote text in order to refer back to it. I've started using that format as well! It is helpful 😊
Yes, I was very pleasantly surprised by the children's dialogues because they were quick, but they were there. And that was significant because every little thing that they say or do hints at the depth of the bond that they share with each other! I still remember the blame games and antagonism...But now he is "their Ansh" as Yash told Aarti during the episode. So beautiful.
"Capable hands" - Truly. *nods* That exchange between Yash and Aarti left me spellbound because of its warmth. Even if they are separating for just one night...Each of them wants to make sure that the other will be all right. The understanding that they share is always so well-portrayed by Gurmeet and Kratika. Thank goodness for the Mittals' creative team and this show's directors. They struck pure gold with these two actors who can do complete justice to their words. Their command over their craft is nothing short of impressive!
The Kyun Main Jaagoon scene is trademark PV, and I love how everyone seems to have recognized that. I'm still not sure how they managed that, but thank God it was there, compressed but relatively pure. Ditto to all you've said about the little family! That is something I would love to see in the future - someone saying something similar about Aarti and her daughters or Yash and his son...
The courtroom fiasco turned into a courtroom circus, but I tried...Tried to look past the blinding lights. The set-up and execution was what bothered me most about that scene - far more than anything else in the entire episode - and I am just going to assume that it was intended to make Ansh uncomfortable enough to instinctively reach out to the one he felt safest with. Somewhere in all of the chaos, the intent was clouded up by the way it was handled, and it went a bit too far on the insensitive side of the spectrum, but those few moments salvaged the scene for me. Sadly there were only a few carefully-extracted moments I could even look at, when the whole scene could have been more effective if treated with a bit more care.
Thank you again! I am humbled by your responses and support! I can't wait to see what you think of the episode 😊
