The Lie

ArYa OS by desi chic @ india-forums.com

"Aapko jhoot se nafrat hai." There they were, the words flung out of her mouth before she could shut the doors. A moment passed in recollection of what was just said. The weight of her comment sucked the quiet right out of the silence. What remained, was the point of noise that reached the highest decibel, rendering it inaudible.

Her body felt light, feather-like almost. It was as though someone had squeezed out every drop from the reservoir of her emotions and molded it into a solid form in front of her. In front of him. She stood there, vulnerable and out of reach, both at the same time. If the space between them was indicative of anything, it was the lack of nothing... because there was something. It was clear in the way his body stiffened mid-motion, ceasing the physical distance between them. It was clear also, in the way his existence molded into ice as he contemplated the echo of his own saying.

Denial bounced off the white walls encasing them in this moment of time. It collided with other feelings, apparent, but unstated.

His back was turned towards her. A passing stranger would place a bet upon the fact that the man in front of her was trying to create a distance between himself and something... someone. That someone, she realized, was never her. Main Arpita ke ilava kisi se pyaar nahin kar sakta. Between the melting iceberg of emotions and them, was the looming reality... the greatest farce of all. Denial.

t was obvious now. Inwardly, she found herself begin to shake. An earthquake was underway. And, as per nature's call, nothing in its way would be spared. The chilling part of it was, the earth that was splitting... was inside of her. It's abrupt rage could be heard against the left side of her ribcage. The first crevices had begun to spread now, making way for the wave of emotions that had momentarily stood in front of her in solid form. Taking a step forward, she allowed herself to feel the adrenaline rushing through her veins. Each step urged her further, quickening, intensifying... closing the physical gap that held them apart.

The words, her words, his words brushed passed deaf ears, jolting them into rhythm. Aapko jhoot se nafrat hai.

And then her steps ceased. Looking down for a pause, contemplation caught up to her. But as the veils to the world lifted, she felt a surge of nausea erupt from her abdomen. Pain stung her eyes as she forced him to turn and face her... face them.

His dark orbs were invincible, unreadable for a split second... the second when the pain in her stomach branched further into her legs. Crumbling, she fell onto the ground in heap of yellow. Aartiji pe yellow rang sabse zyada acha lagta hai. Despite the growing ache, the moment revisited her, mocking her current condition.

The darkness in his eyes had given way to a concerned glaze. He stooped next to her, extending his support through eager arms. But she pushed them away. She was disgusted by the vengeance that had slithered into her coarse gesture. He wanted a part of her pain, but she was stubbornly selfish. Afterall, the sore side of this relationship was always a part of her share.

"Aartiji, please." Another wave of nausea threatened her consciousness, but not without a fight. She had come too far. It was apparent in the way concern laced with honesty and untamed affection had come forth from the shadows of his stony gaze. The tables had turned without mention. She clutched her stomach tighter, wrapping one hand around, cradling herself. The other, free hand, fumbled against the cool, white floor upon which she had descended. Blackness beckoned her.

"Aartiji, aapko humaare bache ki kasam..." And that was when the lights went out.

Thank you for reading. Let me know how it went:)

Cheers,

dc

Thank you for the emotionally packed OS. It seems time stood still as she was experiencing that earthquake inside of her and the pain that she is going through. Since I don't understand the Hindi language,I tried to read between the lines though I would request for a translation of this line since I think this is part of his realization of her importance in his life. Thanks.
