Hi fellow Punar Vivaah followers, I was wondering why so many of us have a problem with the saas-bahu dynamic of the show?
I mean I absolutely fail to understand why shouldn't it be given importance as it also shows one aspect of remarriage, adjusting to new in-laws and conflicts arising due to different view points ( in this case Aarti vs. Scindia parents)
I am actually glad that they aren't ignoring this aspect and jumping straight to the love story between AarYa as that would be totally unreal!
And what exactly is the big deal since they're not showing the saas dominating everyone, but the exact opposite that Gayatri is unable to control/dominate Aarti, and that actually adds some lightheartedness to the whole saas-bahu thing as one feels pity at Gayatri and makes her character sort of like a laughing stock!
What are your point-of-views?

nice post.
i think the frustrations lie in the battles gayatri picks. sometimes, the meaning is understood but the way she acts and proceeds just causes such frustration. her habit of forgetting, trying "saas-giri" etc. just stress and morph the points she wishes to make, and her intention for aarti to adopt the scindia ways. everytime, gayatri says something bitter or overdoes her saas-giri someone is always there to reign her back in -especially Papa Scindia.
Although, its very true that the saas-bahu aspect needs to be there in the show because each part of the couple didnt just get chosen to be a parent ... they also changed the make up of their family dynamics. aarti is now someone elses' mother, daughter, bhabhi, etc. her mere entrance (and ansh's) are a change for the scindias. being a new entry into their lives, she too must conpromise as well. ansh has, and soon enough so will she if the same tactics she used with ansh are applied - some pyaar aur thodi se mithaas ...not this angry-middle-aged-saas giri.
one point i really liked which you made was that .. gayatri, despite her efforts, is unable to dominate anyone just spout steam and is in fact being dominated from husband, sons to her bahus.

Yeah, it's true that Gayatri should also compromise and try to understand Aarti better, but I guess that doesn't happen in every case and that's the point Mittals might be trying to make. Look at the contrast between Shobha and Gayatri for example, both are mother- in- laws, but both have extremely different attitudes, and not all second- time bahus will be lucky enough to get a saas like Shobha because it's not always that convenient!

I agree with You. It is very easy to take out fault of someone. But that's not the thing . You should realise the situation over yourself and then you feel that What is happening is right

Whose hating =O? lol .. Though I haven't seen any post against it yet (but I'm sure there are many) I would like to say I totally love it for the same reason you do!
The so-called 'saas-bahu' dynamic in this show is totally proving us wrong that every household has a saas-bahu that are always at loggerheads with a dominating saas and a crybaby bahu. That is clearly the opposite here! Gayatri tries and tries yet always fails at ever being able to control Aarti/Paridhi's lives. If anyone, she is able to control Vidhi considering Vidhi is the first one and neither did she have any other bahu accompanying her for quite some time ! And yet this dynamic of Vidhi's story also shows us how it can become unbearable for the bahu as well as her husband and kids when the responsibility and overbearingness of the saas can affect their family.
So, in the end I'd like to say that we shouldn't complain since till date we haven't seen typical relationships.. these relations.. even the saas-bahu .. have depth .. there's a reason why people are the way they are and the CVs are able to make the story interesting and not redundant like every other saas-bahu rivarly that's been shown. Scindia's may be orthodox but clearly, that isn't affecting Aarti or Paridhi and they are not confining to it either =)

Glad to see that Aarti dares to voice her opinion in front of her strict in-laws. This makes it diff from typical saas-bahu soaps

Hey Zster, well some people are def complaining about the screen time Aarti-Gayatri arguments take up and how they aren't focusing on AarYa more, so thought of making this post so I can put forth my view about how this is also an important aspect of remarriage especially when kids are also involved; conflicts are bound to happen and not to forget that Scindias are a conservative family living in a not so modern city/society!

Well .. I like em! The scenes of Gaya-Aarti I mean .. and for the sole reason that when they happen .. Aarti sort of voices my thoughts ..and also because Gayatri situation sort of backfires on her.. such as today .. she said whatever came to her mind while talking to Aarti but what happened? SP explained to Aarti in his own way, then reprimanded Gayatri for doing her 'saaspan' with Aarti ... he also mentioned that she won't have any respect left which is true.

Totally agree with you yaar, I agree, it's not like Gayatri gets away with any/everything, infact none of what she wants happens which is what I love too. Sometimes Aarti herself silently/ politely rebels, sometimes Yash doesn't support her, and other times she gets reprimanded by Sr. Scindia!
