YAYY! Thank you for finding this thread Borna! 🤗

Just have a few things to say about Kratika to basically initiate my way into this thread 😆

There is no doubt that Kratika is an absolutely amazing actress, her talent shines through her every move, and she is a total natural in front of the camera. I honestly cannot imagine anyone else playing Aarti because Kratika has gotten under the character's skin and seems to living and breathing her on screen! The writers have sketched out a beautiful, unique and headstrong character in Aarti, but getting the nitty gritty down on paper is just the beginning, it's the actor that brings those characteristics to life and the way they present them is what connects with the audience!

Playing a single mother who has faced tragedy at every turn of life and yet maintains her liveliness and positivity is not easy, especially when there are so many different shades and layers to the character, but Kratika makes it seem seamless. Her eyes, which I personally find to be her biggest strength, are constantly put to use. One look is enough for the audience to see inside her soul and understand every emotion that she is going through at that point. She also oozes brightness which lights up the screen every time she is on it, and I sometimes find myself completely entranced by her. And seeing her play a mother is truly the most beautiful thing, the way she handles and gets along with the kids is truly a treat to watch, because she just seems to be a natural at being a mother, a nurture, maybe because Kratika herself is a child at heart and is filled with overwhelming love for everyone!

It saddens me that such a brilliant actress is still so underrated, and I just wish her all the success and happiness in the world. I want PV to reach the top very soon, win over millions of hearts, and for her to be given the recognition she deserves for her incredible talent that is highlighted by this beautiful show!

*stares wide-eyed at Maham's post*
Oye, if that was your initiation post, I'm just going to copy-paste my ram-katha from Mamita's post here...Kratika-katha, perhaps?
**
First off, I have nothing but utmost respect and admiration for Kratika, along with a tremendous amount of love for the way she approaches her "work."
I am like a stuck record when it comes to recounting my story of how I stumbled across Punar Vivaah and how Kratika's expressions in Promo 3 were enough for my heart and mind to scream: This is the definition of nuanced acting.
I never tire of saying that as soon as I saw that promo, I rushed to watch the previous 2 promos and then was left in awe of the subtle softness of the final Promo 4...And once I found out who Kratika was, I was rushing off to find out about her previous shows. I've never ever been moved to research a TV actor's work like that before, and certainly not in a timeframe of a few days before the show even starts! This was a first, and what impresses me the most about Kratika is her journey in the TV industry.
I remember that article that came out where she said that she completes 5 years of being in the TV industry this year...There were quite a few scathing comments posted - even then, when I had no idea who she was, I felt that was rude and uncalled for. And when I actually went back and saw that she had started out as something of a Balaji Telefilms jewel (from playing a little role in KSBKBT to playing the last true female lead of KZK to being the anti-heroine in KDMH all in a few years) to then moving on and stepping into uncharted territory as the grown-up version of Manu/Laxmibai in JKR, where she polished her acting skills and truly was able to let the latent actor in her flourish...Her career graph is IMPRESSIVE. What this woman has achieved in a short span of 5 years is truly admirable. I read in an interview a while back that before she did JKR, she felt that she was only suited for the roles in saas-bahu shows - the seedhi saadhi, chhui-mui types that we see almost everywhere on TV. JKR was in many ways the challenge that changed everything, and that confidence shows in the way Kratika went out of her way to give that character and that show everything that she had! She literally gave it her sweat, blood, and tears - along with a near-death experience and many injuries, from what I've read!
One thing that struck me was how Kratika takes her work incredibly seriously. That's not just a flippant statement coming from her - she took a break after JKR and didn't take up anything that came her way for 6 months because she "couldn't see herself in that frame." And what did she immediately accept? A story about second chances in life, with a character who is certainly not transparent or one-dimensional.
"Playing them (Yash and Aarti) effortlessly can come only by putting yourself in the shoes of the characters."
She doesn't just step into Laxmibai's shoes or Aarti's shoes...She gets into their skin and becomes them. She shapes them into people we can connect to as viewers through her body language, mannerisms, and facial features...
Although she may have said that playing Aarti was proving to be more difficult than playing Laxmibai because here she's not doing action with a sword but with her expressions, I'm sure many here would agree that she became Aarti ever since she stepped out to do that look test and has been playing her effortlessly ever since!

Kratika-katha, perhaps?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 OMG Borna, that just killed me, seriously I almost choked on my post midnight cereal snack 😆😆😆😆

And in your own words, Kratika-katha is an absolute must as an initiation post! The people here need to know what kind of maniacs they're going to dealing with, because once we get started, we get started and it becomes really hard to put an end to our ram-katha long (see, now you've got me saying it too) discussions! Because seriously we can start about anything to do with PV anywhere...this craziness has no bounds!

So hopefully this is just the beginning of much more to come! I'll definitely try to come here more often to keep things going, and I am sure you will too, because there it's no fun just talking to yourself!

I'm thinking of posting videos of stuff from Kratika's other shows as well so that we can take a look at how much she has progressed from her K-Serial days...It's an incredible journey! I haven't seen her previous shows but I did try to watch as many clips as I could find and now I kind of want to watch those shows just for her sake...
Strong writing is a critical aspect of any story - characterization is extremely important, and planning (!!!) as well! You're right about execution and presentation, of course! The actor is the medium through which beautifully-penned words (hopefully) are transmitted for the audience to see, so if there are mediocre actors who can't bring out what has been written, the character isn't as impactful - or at least that's what I'd think, but unfortunately I've seen that logic being defied on a daily basis in some places.
And that just takes me back to the look test! Kratika was living and breathing her character even then! More on this later! 😆 God, it's such a joy to watch her, whether it's here in Punar Vivaah, in JKR, or even in her K-Serials, where she was the only reason I was even able to sit through the crazy camera angles!

Those eyes of hers...I sometimes feel like she's as skilled at using her eyes as Madhuri Dixit - okay, no one can live up to the brilliance that is Madhuri Dixit, but I can't think of another actress who goes through a myriad of expressions of various shades in a matter of seconds with such clarity! And the best thing about Kratika is that she does that so easily! Seamlessly, as you said! It's interesting because sometimes she is transparent, sometimes she is inscrutable...But that's what she wants to convey, so Sumeetji was right about everything showing on her face - I just can't forget that because it's SO true. So, so true. And he also mentioned something about the feeling that should come out when "Aarti" is with kids...What we see with Kratika and the child actors is a completely genuine bond, completely natural and nurturing as well as teasing!

Maham, what do you think would've happened if this had been aired on Star Plus instead? That could be a rhetorical question if you want it to be...
What I find to be wonderful about Kratika being a part of this show on Zee is that she feels at home with this channel...I do want her to be given more recognition because she deserves it SO much more than a lot of people out there who are mediocre actors at best, but I honestly LOVE the fact that people know her from her previous characters. One of my friends had seen Kratika's ZRA 2010 performance earlier...When I showed it to her recently to show her some other things Kratika had done in the past, she recognized her and told me about how it's amazing to see her as Aarti now...That versatility is rare!
*Formatting being rebellious again? Aaargh. Fine.

Post midnight ceral snack? 😆 Man, now you're making me want food...But I need to go to sleeep! Will do so soon and be back later!
LMAO, so we're taking the Kratika-katha seriously? 😃 I love this! I honestly think we could pull off running the entire thread on our endless discussions, but as they say, the more the merrier! 😃
Ahahaha, I know what it's like talking to myself! It was horrible yet hilarious! 😆 Btw, you should totally comment on the Yeh Dil Hai sequence I revisited if you have time! It's too adorable to not comment on, I think! Those angry faces that Kratika makes - like a little child! Gah, so cute.

Borna, Kratika has truly been a discovery for me as well, because this is the first time I have fallen so hard for a heroine in an Indian show. Usually they annoy the crap out of me, because they're either unrealistically chirpy, so much so that nothing seems to effect them, or they're way too OTT seedhi saadhi, and both these extreme levels of characterizations frustrate me because it's just not real!

With all these new concepts shows that have started airing in the past 6-8 months or so, for me to be attracted to it, I need to see an unorthodox female lead (from your typical Indian soap standards at least) because most of the focus is on them, and unless there is a freshness of attitude, the "new" concept can't do squat! And this is the main reason why PV immediately struck a chord with me, not only was it dealing with a unique idea, the likes of which I had yet to see, but also because of the way Aarti's character was sketched out. She is a natural, real character, who has flaws as well as strong points. She is balanced, and Kratika plays every shade of her to perfection, bringing her to life in a different way with every passing episode! I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am that Kratika decided to remain on break until a truly interesting script came her way, with a character that she felt is out of the mold. The fact that both her and GC both signed the show without a second's hesitation as soon as the script was explained to them, just increases my faith tenfold in how this story is going to unfold!

I personally can't wait to see Aarti's character broaden it's horizons even more as it progresses and grow, because it will give Kratika an opportunity to display the many different tangents of her talent. She is going to evolve into a mother for all three kids, and then as a wife for Yash, and this transformation will be one of the most beautiful things that we'll get to witness here! 😍

Thank you so much Borna for finding this thread! 🤗 So, Maham and you have already got the thread running and that too by copy-paste 🤣. And Kratika-katha? Just the perfect word you have coined, for the babbling that we Kratika-fanatics do. And what to say about Kratika, words always fail me. And that comparison with Madhuri Dixit is spot-on. Their eyes speak volumes, yaar.😍
