@Borna: So sorry about that! But hey, just think of it as increasing the activity of the forum and it will put it all into perspective 😆 😆 Waiting to read your take, even though I probably won't be able to respond to it till tomorrow! And your 'Yeh Dil Hai' post is also on my hit list, will get to that analysis soon as well! 😊

@Mamita: Since this is the official KS AT, I thought that all the gushing that I did on the other thread about here deserves to be reposted here! 😉 It will get the thread going and hopefully lead to one discussion after another! In fact, you should totally paste your analysis of KS as an actor here as well since it's a bigger outlet, and honestly we can never have enough posts complimenting Kratika 😃

Borna, Kratika has truly been a discovery for me as well, because this is the first time I have fallen so hard for a heroine in an Indian show. Usually they annoy the crap out of me, because they're either unrealistically chirpy, so much so that nothing seems to effect them, or they're way too OTT seedhi saadhi, and both these extreme levels of characterizations frustrate me because it's just not real!

I have many stories to share about my previous Indian show experiences and their heroines. I am glad I went through that progression since those shows from the past have definitely shaped my preferences now in a way...The OTT spectrum of dukhiyaari-abla-naari types on one end and the super-chirpy-to-the-point-of-being-immature types on the other end just doesn't cut it for me anymore, no matter now much I may adore the actress in question. And even the ones who seem to fall in the middle fall prey to injustice through execution or mediocre acting or the absence of a real plot. So many things need to fall into place for me to like a show and stay attached to it.

With all these new concepts shows that have started airing in the past 6-8 months or so, for me to be attracted to it, I need to see an unorthodox female lead (from your typical Indian soap standards at least) because most of the focus is on them, and unless there is a freshness of attitude, the "new" concept can't do squat! And this is the main reason why PV immediately struck a chord with me, not only was it dealing with a unique idea, the likes of which I had yet to see, but also because of the way Aarti's character was sketched out. She is a natural, real character, who has flaws as well as strong points. She is balanced, and Kratika plays every shade of her to perfection, bringing her to life in a different way with every passing episode! I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am that Kratika decided to remain on break until a truly interesting script came her way, with a character that she felt is out of the mold. The fact that both her and GC both signed the show without a second's hesitation as soon as the script was explained to them, just increases my faith tenfold in how this story is going to unfold!
Ditto. For me, as you already know, the concept was one of the things in the back of my mind - as in I did find it intriguing but I had other apprehensions - but as soon as I saw Kratika in that particular promo, that's what made the scales come crashing down in favor of watching PV. Watching her interviews before the first episode really helped me brush off all the initial criticisms that Aarti seemed to be yet another typical heroine because I knew from what Kratika had said that this wasn't all that there is to Aarti's personality. At every point where people have written her off as being "boring" or "repetitive" or "crying too much" I've noticed that there are so many shades of emotions (that's where my post on Shades of Sorrow came from) and Kratika conveys every aspect of Aarti beautifully in every single scene!
@bold: Ah, I know!!! I think it's quite funny how Gurmeet was all set to go on a break and took this show up immediately while Kratika was on a self-imposed break and took this up immediately! They both heard the concept and agreed, and I can't thank them enough for that! Especially Kratika...My GOD, what would this show be like without her?! I, for one, would not be watching it, that much I can say with certainty!
On an aside, I think it's so cute that Kratika was waiting for a romantic show after JKR...And of all shows that she might have been offered, this was the one she really wanted to do! What a show to be a part of! 😳 I can't imagine what I would've missed out on if she wasn't in this! I probably wouldn't have known who she was! 😕 That's just a really, really sad thought! I'm a self-confessed Kratika fanatic and the best thing is, her body of work can't be taken lightly because she actually has come a long way in terms of acting prowess! Add to that the fact that she has reached a point this early in her career where she can actually sit around and wait for something challenging to come to her indicates her priorities and what she feels she can contribute to the industry and give to her audiences! She's gone from one show to the next very quickly, though, and that's also something to keep in mind!

I personally can't wait to see Aarti's character broaden it's horizons even more as it progresses and grow, because it will give Kratika an opportunity to display the many different tangents of her talent. She is going to evolve into a mother for all three kids, and then as a wife for Yash, and this transformation will be one of the most beautiful things that we'll get to witness here! 😍
There's so much left to happen and it's all going to be fantastic! The mother-child bonding will happen first and I can't wait to see this onscreen! And offscreen, too, since the 3 kids are going to drive her crazy, I bet! 😆 At least Divyam will...Her little Singham!

Just the perfect word you have coined, for the babbling that we Kratika-fanatics do. And what to say about Kratika, words always fail me. And that comparison with Madhuri Dixit is spot-on. Their eyes speak volumes, yaar.😍

You're welcome Mamita! Welcome welcome! 🤗
I can't tell you all HOW happy I am that this place is FINALLY seeing some discussion! 😃 I don't want to see this thread buried again...
I feel like we could think up a great title for subsequent threads...Something unique...Something with "Ethereal" in it, maybe? That's one word I ALWAYS find myself saying when it comes to Kratika. Kratika-katha has my copyright, but it's a free-for-all!
(This is the third time I've coined a phrase here on IF, yay! First two jodi names and now something exclusive to an actress I have come to adore in the span of two days! 😆 And that story warrants a long post in itself but I'd rather just share videos and interviews instead)
So Kratika is the Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan of Indian TV...I like this! Correction, I love this.

As suggested by Maham, I am re-posting my Kratika-katha here to get this thread going: 😆 😉
I must say Kratika is doing a fantabulous job as Aarti.👍🏼 She is just perfect for the role of Aarti. I can imagine no other actress doing justice to this role. (Remember the look test, anyone? The other actresses were eww!🤢)Though I didn't follow Jhansi ki Rani that much, whatever little I saw of her in that show, I was mighty impressed. It is not easy to play a role in a period drama wherein you have to fit into the mold of a person who lived in the past and that too a legendary person as Rani Laxmibai. Kratika was so convincing as JKR and oozed so much of power of authority that I almost believed that Rani Laxmibai was completely like her. 😃
Coming to PV, I feel she has surpassed herself and has left her contemporaries behind with her powerful and believable portrayal of Aarti. 👏 She has surely joined the league of TV actresses like Sakshi Tanwar to whom acting comes naturally, unlike other actresses whose outrageous over-acting and over-the-top expressions are applauded as great acting by their mindless fans. 😕
Acting is a lot more than giving myriad expressions or being able to laugh or cry effortlessly onscreen (which is what most TV actresses do). It encompasses a lot more - emoting well through facial expressions as well as small gestures such as eye movement, body language or even a particular style of walking or talking, I mean the entire demeanour. And Kratika exactly does that. She makes you feel for the character and makes you connect to the emotion she wants to portray. 🤗
Mostly we see unidimensional characters on TV. For the female protagonist, you generally have two choices:
1. She'll be loud, bubbly, extrovert, happy-go-lucky (read: hunterwali) type of person.
2. Or she'll be the epitome of shyness and sacrifice (read: nazuk kali), coy and introvert. 🥱
And most of the times, it is the former type of characters that get popular e.g. Manvi, Khushi etc.
Even in Bollywood, such type of characters are awarded... Geet in Jab We Met and Shruti in Band Baaja Baraat, remember?
We really need to see more stronger female characters on TV, more women of substance. 👍🏼 And Aarti is one such character. Okay, sorry for going off the tangent, I'll come back to Kratika. 😛
Recapitulate:
1. A woman happily married and settled in life, expecting her first baby soon VS a divorced woman with all her hopes and aspirations locked up inside her.
2. The hockey-stick-wielding fighter girl VS the soft, dedicated and devoted mother to the apple of her eye.
3. The passionate, seductive looks she gave to Prashant VS the hesitating awkward glances at Yash.
4. At times protesting against the injustice meted out to her VS sometimes accepting the harsh decisions quietly.
Kratika has portrayed every emotion perfectly. Hats off to Kratika for bringing such a complex character as Aarti to life successfully. ⭐️
I really hope Punar Vivah does for Kratika what Fashion did for Priyanka Chopra. I wish and pray Kratz bags all the top honours at the next set of Television awards for her flawless acting. ⭐️👏

I'll try my best to be active. But right now, in May that is, it is difficult. Promise, from June, I'll be more active. But these days I can only be in stalker mode. 😆

I love this phrase Kratika-katha. Of course it has your copyright dear. But I am so gonna use this everytime I start off on my Kratika-rants... uhh Kratika-katha. 😆

Apt comparison. Vidya Balan is currently the best actress in Bollywood and so is Kratika on TV.

Maham, what do you think would've happened if this had been aired on Star Plus instead? That could be a rhetorical question if you want it to be...

Borna, this question can never be left as rhetorical, because just a couple of days ago I was talking t my sister about how different the TRP game is on Star Plus as compared to all the other channels! Star Plus is still the #1 Indian channel, and I don't see that changing any time soon to be honest, which is what makes it very difficult from shows from Zee, Sony, Colors, etc. to make it into the Top 10 unless they have extremely high numbers. Star caters to an extremely large audience and there is that loyalty factor there as well, so it's not that Star has more quality shows than the other channels, but rather it has the familiarity with the masses and it works it in it's favor!

But honestly, I am really glad that this show is coming on Zee TV, there is a lot of potential for it to grow here, and I mean it's already the #2 show for the channel in terms of TRP for the past couple of weeks right after Pavitra Rishta. I feel that Zee gives more importance to the concept of a show rather than obsessively focus on the numbers, which bodes really, really well for PV. I have had some really bad experiences with Star Plus and even Colors, where the track of shows were changed every single weeks due to channel interference in an attempt to raise TRPs, and that absolutely destroys the show. The CVs can't salvage the concept when the story line is changed without it given a chance to develop, and it is just downright frustrating for both the audience and the cast, having to constantly change their dialogues and mindset about where the story is headed towards next 😒 😡

So with PV being aired on Zee TV, I feel that the Mittals will have a lot more free reign with the concept without the channel interfering with it too much, and thus they'll be able to execute the story the way they intended to right from the beginning! Plus the 10:30 p.m. time slot is another added bonus, because they don't have to worry too much about the censor board, as we've already seen with our one in a million SR sequence 😆😆

Obviously this is another thing I can go on discussing forever as I do have some bones to pick with some of the channels, but I really hope that never becomes the case with Zee because so far I am absolutely loving the progression and have a lot of faith in the channel, PH, writers, crew and obviously the cast! So stopping here before it gets out of hand 😳

Oh and last thing about Kratika and her relationship with Zee, what I understood from the very first interview of hers during the launch press conference, she considers the channel to be a second family and has a really good rapport with them. The fact that her last show was from the cult genre, completely different from your regular run of the mill serials, she really appreciated the fact that the channel gave it so much respect and support! So it's basically a whole bag of goodies all around 😍

@Anupriya: I found a ton of amazing pictures of Kratika from her JKR photoshoots that I'll post if they haven't been posted already!
@Mamita: Yay! Looking forward to talking with you more, Mamita!
(Is it odd that I was reminded of Vidya during Promo 3? That bit where Kratika turns back towards Gurmeet at the very end made me think of Vidya for a split-second...The basis of the comparison obviously stems from the acting capabilities of both women, naturally. They can actually act!)
@Maham: Will return to this later! With videos! (And maybe some PMs too)
Signing off for now! See you later!
