why can sarita be independent? there are lot of options to go out and work. she is choosing to stay dependent on her husband and that is different than being stuck wid a husband under circumstances. so you are saying that divya can just walk off and not face anything. you answered your own question when you said that this is a strong patriarchal society where male dominates. divya will face shame just like sarita. so far raj's character is concerned, i would say he has been harsh wid sarita and even disrespectful (which is not right) but expecting love from him just coz sarita loves him makes no sense. he loves divya truly and madly and till he willingly falls in love wid sarita, i dont think i can blame raj for current situation of sarita. sarita has a lot of valid reasons to leave him. she is beautiful, has brains and is strong minded. so giving reasons like dependency on husband and that too for a strong woman like sarita doesnt make sense. why shouldnt raj and divya not be together in future? they love each other immensely. meanwhile if raj falls in love wid sarita and if she is willing, then why should raj and sarita not be together?

Nice post! I tend not to comment on this forum much because most of my arguments are twisted to satisfy silly arguments based on favoritism, and especially since I am relying mostly on written updates than the actual episodes themselves to base my comment.

I find that there is only one person to blame and that is Raj! His lack of a backbone has created this situation! He fails to understand the consequences of his actions and yet we are blaming the women, (who I guess deserve some sort of blame to be pinning for such an idiotic man) He had no right to in a way imprison Sarita for 10 years, forcing her to sleep on the floor and taking all the abuses that were hurled at her by his mother, and sisters! And yet still believes he hold he right to ill-treat her whenever he feels like it! But then again why did Sarita give him that right? Surely she is not stupid! And the answer is simple, she had a ray of hope within her, which made her think she could save her marriage, but clearly the man she married is not worth being called a man.

Now moving on to DIvya, her coming into the house, believing she was the cause of Sarita's situation (which in a way she was), still holding on to the hope of gaining Raj back (this is my perspective on the matter upon the way the characterisation of the characters have been depicted)! And she also ended up giving Raj the hope he had been suppressing in his sorrow! He felt now maybe I can get her back, and he acted upon that disregarding Sarita's feelings!

Marriage is not a game, and that's why Sarita wanted to safe hers at all cost! She is not stupid in wanting to do that at all! And well Divya felt a huge burden when she realised what her departure had done, hence her wanting to help, I guess! But in the process she was unleashing rays of hope! But in a way it was good, because now Sarita has realised she has to move on! ( But I hope Raj is made to suffer in the same manner he made Sarita suffer, whether intentionally or un-intentionally for 10 years- he sure as hell do not deserve any happiness)

Members of this forum, will even defend adultery if it glorifies their favorites in the same frame! And will go to any extent of making the other characters look low! I saw a post where although it was made for fun, Sarita was being paired with a servant, people claiming she ought to look at that direction, as if it was her fault! If truly one was at fault then I guess it will be Raj for lacking a backbone, and perhaps DIvya for leaving without giving an explanation! This place would be much healthier if we placed ourselves in the shoes of the characters instead of jumping on each others' throats!

I seriously want Sarita to find the happiness that was snatched away from her by Raj! I want Divya to understand that feeding onto Raj's desperation is not healthy and that she has found a perfect companion in Gaurav!

Nice post once again!

Nice post once again!

You told you dont watch the episodes. On what basis you are calling Omaksh a servant??He is Raj's friend and tennant of the Jakhotias.i did not know if someone is leaving on rent then he is the servant of the owner. What the TM is saying you justified that by saying Divya was responsible for Sarita's condition. The TM was general in her views. She said most of the people blamed either Sarita or Divya not Raj.You just did that by putting all the blames on Divya. The back story is never shown. So how can you say Divya left without explanation. When she met Raj after 10 years Raj did not ask her why she left. Also Sarita and Sheila knows why Divya left as she mentioned when she went to Divya's haldi.Another thing does not Divya need any happiness in her life??As per today's episode she moved out of Raj's house and also broke up with Gaurav. Now what?? Will she remain like tulsi forever to give happiness to others?? I think people want this. And if she remains like that still people will blame her..

Can I be frank? I spoke of socialization, it is not simply a matter of someone going out and getting a job. There is an internalized mindset that has been fed to some woman since birth from a patriarchal society, like Sarita, who fulfills her domesticated role to the tee and still hopes that her husband would love her, since she has no place to go. I never said Divya will not be ridiculed, but you cannot seriously argue that Divya (clearly portrayed as an upper class female) is not more privileged then Sarita, this is a simple understanding of any social scientific theory that takes an intersectional approach to understanding oppression and factoring in class and income.

I am arguing that there are a lot of restrictions, which Sarita has internalized that cause a barrier from her going out and being dependent. She clearly is not portrayed as educated, and factoring in my own understanding of women and the economy around the world it is not as simple as, "oh hi here I am!" Why only put the onus on Sarita to get a job? Why not actually question the patriarchy in place that disallows many women from getting jobs both cultural wise and political economy wise.

i totally agree with u TM ...

i am copying my post from diff thread 😆

actually i have this ques...if raj wants to move out of sarita's life ,then y the hell waited for 10 long yrs to do that.

would he had done the same if he didnt see divya now ? that's a million dollar ques?
as soon as he saw divya , he realized he should leave sarita 🤢 ..wat a dumbo idea is it
if he did before divya enters that's genuine. else it's not ...

only karan can make this character looks cute though raj's character not that great...😳
but we r seeing some progress slowly i think.

I like your post. I get your points. But saying Divya is career oriented and can always walk off😲 Is Sarita different?😕 Sarita belongs to a rich family, she has/had the best choice to walk off out of the three of them

Problem lies in our misogynistic society that always tends to blame women. This is not the case with this show only but almost all Indian Tv shows which portray women as either devis or dayans with no middle ground. Thats what is fascinating about Sarita's character that she isn't shown as a typical abuse bearing bahu . Waiting for some good feminist Tv shows to storm Indian Television Industry... Fed up of typical saas bahu sagas and shows where abusive and rude male characters are glorified...

BTW nice to know there are feminists on IF as I typically encounter chauvinists or misogynists...😊
