What will be Divya's future?

1) Will she succumb to her emotions and like Sarita bring herself down so that her worth will only be limited to advertising for scraps (Sohanlal said that they can use her to advertise their scrap business)...

2) Bring Raj to the right path and give Sarita her hope but destroy herself in the process? Divya has been compared to mehendi before in the show...one that destroys itself to give happiness to others. She has also been compared to Tulsi, one who always stays in the courtyard but does not enter the house.

3) Solve the problem between Raj and Sarita and almost bring herself to the brink of disaster...but then with the help of Gaurav pull herself back and walk away into the sunset?

What will be Raj;s future?

1) Will he continue on the path of self destruction and also destroy Divya and Sarita?

2)Will he realise that he is actually harming Divya by not moving on because Divya cannot move on in life until he does the same? So will he reconcile with his present and let the past go? Or will he let the past o by destroying himself and setting both Sarita and Divya free?

What will be Sarita's future?

1) Will she continue on the path of insecurity and jealousy which might ultimately lead to her own destruction and that of Divya?

2)Or will she finally listen to what her heart has always been telling her and take a step back to set Raj free?

For now nothing is clear...
Besides there isnt just them...his crazy familly will b a an important factor here, i dnt want any of the girls leads to stay in that house and suffer and offcourse Raj needs a make over ( behaviour i mean) so he can deserve one of the girls..

Misti,

As usual, you summarized all three characters in your usual concise style very well. Not sure what I can add to this. I felt sympathy for all three characters today.

Regarding Divya

But while watching the episode, I felt sympathy for Raj today the way he was showing all those momentos to Divya. It does seem that he knew her long before they entered the college because he talked about assuring a nervous Divya on the first day of college by taking their picture together. So were they high school sweethearts?

So he is not the mature guy in late 20s. He is still that teenager who was hurt badly by Divya's "abandonment". He seems to live in a world where his illusions are mixed with reality. Today, it seemed that he did not follow her because she left him and he was angry at that. But her coming back to his life in this manner and sequence of events (coming to his house before the engagement, breaking of the wedding at the last minute and then coming to live in his house) has given him false hopes.

Is it really a right thing for Divya to try to play with his emotions again? Even if she is doing this to bring him on a right path so that both she and he can move on (in whatever way), she is playing with emotions of a very fragile person who is almost ready to break down. And she is providing hopes to another emotionally damaged person Sarita who is oscillating between hope and jealousy/insecurity.

So my question is: will Divya not be destroyed if she unintentionally destroys Raj even though she is doing everything with best intentions.

Today, Raj reminded me of this fragile character Blanche in the play "A Streetcar named Desire" by Tennessee Williams. She too remained in a world of illusions/fantasies mixed with reality and she got destroyed in the end.

So I only see destruction for Divya in the path she has chosen. Gaurav perhaps with his clear insight and some similar experiences as Raj seems the only light for her and this whole situation.

Regarding Sarita

I felt sorry for her the way she was feeling insecure and then couldn't help herself but decided to eavesdrop. And heard what she knew, but did not want to hear put so bluntly by Raj.

Only one saying will give her peace and help her to move on:

If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they are yours. So that is your second question. Will she choose that path?

In the end, all three were feeling tormented and Raj is the one who can help himself and also both Divya and Sarita by coming out of the past.

For now nothing is clear...well this is a hindi show and hindi shows are synonymous with melodrama. 😉...so pain and suffering will be there. As for a happy ending...thats in the hands of the makers. I is true that nothing is clear now and thats why I just gave some choices based on what has been shown until now. Who knows the makers might also show that both Divya and Raj will realise that what was there before 10 years is no longer present. Both are in love with an image and they might on their own choose to let go off that image. Maybe Sarita will decide that she does not want a life of compromise. Maybe the three characters will go their separate ways. Maybe Gaurav will also decide to give Divya some space to decide what exactly she wants from life and he might also have to do the same for himself. Maybe they will again meet after some years and start again with a clean slate. There are too many maybes here...

Besides there isnt just them...his crazy familly will b a an important factor here, yes the crazy family will but to me they will play an important role if these three characters let them play an important role. i dnt want any of the girls leads to stay in that house and suffer and offcourse Raj needs a make over ( behaviour i mean) so he can deserve one of the girls.Yes to all here.

Myra, believe me Raj is going to get a makeover. That is a must for Hindi TV serial.

As far as the crazy family is concerned, they almost behaved very normal by their standard. It could be that they were putting their best behavior for Divya. But then they have shown her their true colors. But it was such a family scene with Sohal Lal, mistress, Dadi (no making faces), two daughters (no taunts to Sarita), Raj (less sullen), renter's son the moocher, Divya (the chief guest) with Kamla and Sarita serving them in harmony. Granted nobody blinked when Raj the cold hearted one did not give water to choking Divya (who to them is his college friend). But still it was quite a normal family scene for this dysfunctional family.

Well regarding Sarita I can understand her insecurities and jealousy. I hope that she gets the strength to rise above her fears and sets Raj free. Even if Divya makes Raj fall out of love with her and then Raj goes back to Sarita, she will always know that she has got Raj not because Raj chose her but because Divya made this happen.

Regarding Divya

But while watching the episode, I felt sympathy for Raj today the way he was showing all those momentos to Divya. It does seem that he knew her long before they entered the college because he talked about assuring a nervous Divya on the first day of college by taking their picture together. So were they high school sweethearts? don't know about the high school sweetheart part but it did seem that they might have known each other for some time. Or ot can be possible that he might have been the most popular guy in college and if he wanted to take a picture with Divya that might mean that he likes her just as she is and that might have given her confidence.
Yes it did give him false hopes. I did feel sorry for him when he was showing all those stuff to Divya but then I remembered his silence for the past 10 years when Sarita has been abused by his family and indirectly by himself. Thats when all the sympathy flew out of the window for me because to me there is no justification for abuse. So for me to be sympathetic towards this character I need to know what exactly happened on the marriage day.

Is it really a right thing for Divya to try to play with his emotions again? No it is not the right thing. Playing with anyone's emotions is never the right thing to do. Yes regarding Raj but regarding Sarita, didn't she bring this on herself? When she went and emotionally manipulated Divya and guilt tripped her into coming and helping her in getting back Raj, did she ever think that she s playing with fire and that she herself will get singed?

So my question is: will Divya not be destroyed if she unintentionally destroys Raj even though she is doing everything with best intentions. Yes and thats what happens when one plays with fire.

Today, Raj reminded me of this fragile character Blanche in the play "A Streetcar named Desire" by Tennessee Williams. She too remained in a world of illusions/fantasies mixed with reality and she got destroyed in the end. Yes and for a fraction of a second the last scene of Khamoshi (Waheeda Rahman's one) flashed in front of my eye.

So I only see destruction for Divya in the path she has chosen. Gaurav perhaps with his clear insight and some similar experiences as Raj seems the only light for her and this whole situation. Yes and I think the makers have been hinting on that...I mean Divya's destruction.

Regarding Sarita

I felt sorry for her the way she was feeling insecure and then couldn't help herself but decided to eavesdrop. And heard what she knew, but did not want to hear put so bluntly by Raj. It will be good for her if she faces this truth. She has tried to hide from it for the past 10 years. Her heart knows it but she refuses to follow her heart because of her emotions. But will she now listen to her heart or again continue on her anger and jalousy.

Only one saying will give her peace and help her to move on:

If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they are yours. So that is your second question. Will she choose that path? Yes and thats the million dollar question...or will the makers allow her to choose that path?😉

In the end, all three were feeling tormented and Raj is the one who can help himself and also both Divya and Sarita by coming out of the past.

@Misti, you are absolutely right about the abuse. He did stay silent for 10 years and his neglect/indifference is also a form of abuse. So that cannot be justified and so sympathy for him on that fact alone evaporates. But I still felt sorry for his young self (prior to marriage to Sarita) because he was no needy of someone like Divya. Waheeda Rehman (of Khamosi) is a good example. The way Raj was showing that desperation to Divya by showing how much he had missed her could be related to that character's breakdown in the end. It seemed as if all his suppressed emotions (of 10 years) came to surface. That's why I felt that sympathy for that ignoring everything else. But I still need to get explanation of this kind of desperation. Why so much hurt and anger when Divya did not marry anyone and only left him to take care of her family? He knows his family very well. A greedy family like that would have never tolerated Divya supporting her family while being a DIL of that house.

So it is not realistic that an outgoing open person (whom Divya knew) would transform into this kind of character if there is not some history there. I hope that creatives don't expect viewers to just blindly accept Raj's character the way he was and the way he is now.

You are also right about Sarita emotionally manipulating Divya and making her feel guilty of destroying Sarita's life even though she had nothing to do with Sarita's misery. Nobody can be responsible for somebody's bad behavior towards the other person. It is like Valmiki was told by Narad Muni that only he is responsible for all the crimes he has committed and his family - wife, parents and kids are not guilty of his sins. Divya did not get any space between coming to terms with her own feelings and Sarita marching in her life and bringing all that baggage of the past.

As for makers allowing anything - Sarita making a dignified choice, Raj coming out of his illusionary world and face the truth, all the past story logicially explaining characters etc., is a big question that only they can answer.

Today I felt hopeful that a separation scene between the two would be show. There was a hint of something that happened between them 10 years ago. But then the hopes were dashed when Raj decided that all his complaints were gone once he saw Divya in his house. I am still reserving my judgment because this scene between Divya and Raj will continue tomorrow.

But then Divya asked him the question (Did Raj feel anything for Sarita in 10 years?) where the audience know the answer even before the show started. But neglected to ask the question that audience have been demanding for four weeks: Why did Raj marry Sarita? That question was never asked. Then there is a vow of Divya to Sarita that she will never remind Raj of the past. So are creatives telling us to forget the past and concentrate on present?

Great post Misti and great comments Myra and Angie.
I don't why but I felt strangely disconnected from all the three characters.
Divya - I don't know how genuine she is at the moment. I know she's playing Raj and will cook up a story about Sarita's illness (as per the spoiler) . All through her dialogues, I was thinking how much of this is acting and how much does she really mean. I also felt that maybe her stint as tv actress has given her a taste of over the top melodrama - and she is trying to write and direct Raj's and Sarita's story. Well, a lesson learnt - stay clear of spoiler posts 😃.
Sarita - Well, I cheered for her when she was fighting back against Kamla's taunts and did not take her SIL's abuse. And I sympathized with her when I saw how she was putting up with her husband's neglect - I want her to be stronger but was moved by her plight. But her "bullying" Divya is irritating me. She does not trust Divya but is helpless to take her help, that much I get. But once she has decided to go ahead, shouldn't she at least try to see from Divya's perspective. She can perceive that Divya affects Raj but not the vice versa. Her jealousy and eavesdropping make sense to me but her repeatedly lashing at Divya does not.
Raj - Well, I don't know how to put it. Maybe he's Peter Pan - the boy who refused to grow up. So, now I get it - he did not go after Divya because "he was angry" . And it was not a knee jerk reaction to Divya's decision (of supporting her siblings). That anger stayed that way for 10 years till it melted seeing Divya making efforts to come back to his life. Call it eternal love, I will call it ego and stubbornness. It was not Divya who deserted him - it was he who deserted Divya in the toughest phase of her life. I am sure his moral support would have meant the world to Divya had he cared to think beyond his own issues. What kind love is this where there's only "chemistry" and "intensity", candles and eyelocks - but no consideration, no respect and no support.
