Nice analysis. I agree that Raj's character has been dumbed so far. We as the audience do not have a clue to his thoughts, and his actions come across as unfeeling, crass, and choppy. The whole family is living in a la la make-believe land. I almost wish that Divya had brought with her a fake camera crew, so that they would try and behave themselves at least in front of the camera, but perhaps even that is a tall order for this family.
On the bright side, the father can really hold a tune, and I think they are using his original voice for the songs he is shown to be humming.
Thanks aimf. I fail to understand why CVs are not giving any clues to his thought process or his past. Initially, it seemed that they would open layers of the past slowly because there are unexplained reasons for actions of all 3 characters. But at least Sarita and Divya are still being explained somewhat.
As far as this family behaving properly, no fake cameras are going to do that either. After Divya's advise, Kamla was nice (in her convoluted way) to Sarita for few seconds and then was back to her normal screaming behavior. Actually, that was in a way funny scene where she switched to "Beti" while scolding and taunting her with Sarita looking puzzled at this "nice" behavior and then switching back to her usual screaming mode.
I was thinking the same thing that the father can really sing. I think he is a good actor too along with actress playing Kamla. If only creatives would tone down both of them.
