so i dont blame love... yes. but falling for sanyo was a mistake.

Thats what I have been saying that PRC falling in love with Sanyo was a mistake 😊 Ambitious men cannot love/marry impractical dreamy girls and succeed

prithvi falling in love with sanyo was not a mistake but the way prithvi lost himself completely after falling in love with sanyo was a big mistake which the history of india would never forgive him

1) prithvi was in love with sanyo so much that he used to neglect his duties.-
It was not just normal duties of king.. but also during war, prithvi used to forget his duties. Like when there was a war with kannoj, prithvi send his generals to fight with jaichand. He then disguised himself and went and met sanyo. This war was a very difficult one.. n it was because of punder n kanha chauhan that they won the war. It was clearly said that his army was shocked when they did not see their king. How can king ever do this. Ask his army to go n fight because it provided a good opportunity to meet his lady love.

2)Ghori attacked at night
Though it was rajput custom that they used to fight only during day, it was prithvi's fault that he did not think abt such a situation. And we cannot say that fighting at night was never heard of. Chanakya's artashastra describes this technique clearly to defeat ur enemy - "send one part of ur army to the enemy's camp and make them fight.. so that by morning their soldiers r tired. Then attack them in the morning with the rest of ur army"

3)Sanyo prevented messages from reaching prithvi-
This was one of the major mistake of sanyo. Prithvi agreed to spend one month with her(sanyo had forced prithvi to build a separate palace for her). It was during this time that ghori was planning to attack ajmer. When prithvi's ministers came to know that ghori was advancing towards ajmer, they went to alert prithvi. However sanyo stopped all these messages from reaching him because she did not want anyone to disturb them. Its true that sanyo didn't know the matter was of so much importance, but still she shld have known that for a king his kingdom comes first- not his wife. Finally chand had to tell to samar singh, n it was samar singh who was able to enter the palace n see prithvi. Though prithi arranged his army soon n went for war along with samar singh, ghori had advanced a lot inside prithvi's kingdom.

very good points ! 👏

I still do not agree that Prithvi's love for Sanyogita was mistake. The way he neglected his duties was mistakes. But again, he was human and can fall in love and it does not mean that king do not have right to get his love. Being a friend he has helped and cared about his friends, being a king he has cared for his praja very much and Sanyogita who had left her every thing for Prithvi also deserved Prithvi's love which he gave her.
Again, Prithvi not asuming that Ghori can attack in night was his mistake and before that, the way he had not only forgiven Ghori but also had trusted enough that he will not take revenge when he will get into power, was the mistake of Prithvi. But at times every one do silly mistakes so I dont think its right to say that Prithvi not cared for his people or kingdom...He lived very short life but in short life he had achieved so much that to this day people respect him a lot. As for invasions, there were invasions before Prithvi too. (Mehmood Ghaznvi had attacked India for 17 times and did lot of destruction and this happened before Prithvi)

Sanyo was def his biggest mistake...

but don't get me wrong here....falling in love with her wasn't his mistake...

His mistake was falling too much in love with her....meaning he would be so infatuated by her that he wouldn't care what's going on in the external world....that was what was bad for him....he shud've understood that there is a right time and place for everything...

thts right.😭 just yesterday i read a book abt him, n it writes clearly tht he neglected his duties. thts rigth.😭

i was not ready to believe this, but its true, but anyhow, i still feel tht falling in love w/ sanyo was no mistake at all. but wht happened after tht was d reason for his demise. not d love itself.

Love does make a person a bit weak and sensitive but PRC, like others was human..In this Sagars version , i think they are already showing that PRC deviates from his mission the moments he spots Sanyogita. But falling in love with Sanyogita was not the ONLY reason for his downfall.

Sorry girls about all the shuffles from this topic... i wasnt very happy with the way this topic was progressing - one it was moving the focus away from the debate and second i wasnt very comfortable about some of the tones between my friends... anyway i have not deleted any of this as i realise plenty of effort has gone into these lamba lamba posts... your posts have simply moved to the debate mansion under the topic greatest kings in indian history....if you would like to edit your posts there you could do so.. 😊

i removed my post which possibly started off all this (though that wasnt my intention at all... ) anyway back to the debate

Ishu i have one point........ 😛
Specially to u Lashy di 😳

Lashy u said that the kings use to have more than one wives...
so PRC also had them 😭 (Which was not expected by me any ways leave it 😭 )

But my point is.. if that was the truth then
PRC's father Someshwar had only one wife...as per me(correct me if i m wrong ) He didn't get married to other even after not getting child for many years... 😃 so how come they say PRC had many wives 🤢

its not necessary rashi that every king followed this but it is rare to find to king historically with just one wife.. sometimes surprisingly even kings with famous love stories had many other wives like shahjahan mumtaz mahal.. kings married many wives not only because of the child-crisis.. but mostly due to form friendly relations with other kings and make their power stronger... it could also be that they dont want to displease other kings or say no...to annexe other cities... these were just the queens what about all the dancers and other women in the harem? Dont be naive to believe that kings were ever monogamous... 😳 kyaa karein yaar its a very different life and very difficult for us to adjust to and accept...

anyway.... as for the love story i dont think it was a mistake at all... if it wasnt for the love story then there most we would know about Prc's life was that he was the last major hindu king of India! Prc has one thing none of the other emperors have - a very very popular love story - the story of Prithviraj Chauhan and Sanyogita...😊
