OMG.what a cool topic.
Ok debaters, here I come and hope I'm not late!
I shall not talk about versions here....whether Sagars version or Raso version,
the point is daughter choosing her own life partner.
And no, I may sound harsh, but I dont feel parents are doing any favour to us by fulfilling our dreams!
I guess most of us here have not really graduated to parenthood yet.....
I always felt indebted to my parents until I became a parent myself.....
Now I know I can never repay my daughter for bringing the immense happiness in my life. The least I can do for her is make sure she stays happily ever after. That's my take on a very personal front! 😳
Now for the debate:
One good and bad thing is they were all celebrities of
that era-JC, PRC and Sanyogita. So what they did dearly
affected the masses. I am refering to the war that
ensued as an aftermath of the Swayamvar. So here its
not just about 2 families,it's about 2 kingdoms!
Considering this view their action was not justified. 👎🏼
I do not agree to the argument which says
why sacrifice a lifetime of love(from parents) for
a new found love. Then why do parents marry off
their girls and send them to a totally new house to
spend the rest of their lives with (sometimes) an almost unknown person. 🤔
As a father(of that era) what would JC look for in sanyo's groom? Should be a gr8 king and have good personal terms with him......(in those times daughter's compatibility with her life parter was of least concern)
Whether the history version or the Sagar's version, both the PRC's are over-qualified over the requirement 1 and didn't fare well in the 2nd one.
JC was not even thinking about Sanyo's feelings, whether she wud be happy with any other king? Those who say she did not know PRC well(as per history), should also remember that she didn't know any other kings present in the Swayamvar!!
She had to leave her father's house in any case after marriage....why not with the person she liked?
She decided to not sacrifice her whole life to boost her father's ego. JC was no less-he actually
insulted her daughter's love by putting PRC's statue at door as a doorman?why?
As a woman Sanyo was justified in my opinion 👍🏼
And last but not the least......even Shri Krishna eloped with Devi Rukmani on her marriage day(even they had not met before marriage).....So u see even God would want us to live a happy life.👍🏼
