Avvayyar is like a title. Someone deeply one with god.
Through out history you will find so many women single by choice and accepted by society.
Mira was married but chose to follow her own path.
Being single and happy is not a modern thought what so ever

That I am too. But such things did not happen back then.

Yes. Yes about that too. Amrusha must be in her mid twenties. What is she doing unmarried for so long? that too in those days.?

In the forest that too a princess from neighbouring kingdom that too in her mid twenties. that too alone. Nothing wrong with that. but such things do not happen in those days.
10th century has a lot to do with it. Centuries have a lot to do with it.

Culture and Society norms are ever changing
Infact what we had 20 years ago we don't have now
Neither are we modern nor were our ancestors close minded
Also India is too big a country with thousands of Languages and culture
And here we are talking about some 10-12 centuries back
do we know all the Kingdoms that existed then?
Do we know all the norms of all the kingdoms back then?
Even a lifetime is not enough to know all this
Even if there were such norms
there are always people who stood away from the crowd in all eras
we had warrior women, poets, revolutionaries etc
comparatively staying single is nothing and nothing to be shocked either
Still if u feel NOONE stayed single back then, then it's ur POV but not the FACT

Also coming to PV they have shown reasons for both being single
Mrinal's revenge and Prithvi free Spirited nature and he lived on his own terms
Also during exile Prithvi reached Amrusha's Kingdom(Ujjain it was, if I am not wrong)
So Amrusha met him in her own Kingdom
Neither was Amrusha alone
she came accompanied with her soldiers and maids
Also Amrusha is unmarried bcos
She is waiting for Prithvi Love
I am just stating what was shown in the series and what I understood from the series

Mrinal is 4 years older to Tailap as per Jitin who plays Tailap. Mrinal's only goal was to raise her brother, look after kinddom and her revenge. Prithvi is waiting for a girl who can match up to him or something like that. Mrinal is 7-8 years older to Prithvi. We have talked in detail about this in 'Is Prithvi so naive?' post. Please check it out. So what it was 10th century? Even in ancient and medieval times many things happened that will put 21st century to shame. [/QUOTE]
absolutely agree to the bold part

our ancestors were really different 😆

In fact it was the middle ages due to frequent foreign invasions which put a certain mindset into indian thinking

Mrinal would got married at 16 and her husband would have ran away hearing her revenge jaap. Prithvi would have got married at 18 to any xyz girl chosen by his parents and his wife would gave been bored with all his poetries and shayaris. Razia Sultan married at 35 that also in a forced marriage(as per history not that &TV show). I don't think anyone asked till now anywhere that why she has not married at 15-16. Radha remained unmarried all her life after Krishna left her.

No clue actually 😆

their ages are adding up 😆

Let's assume Tailap got married at 16 and has a son of 16 so that makes him 32 so Mrinal will be 36...but applying this logic for Sindhu as well then he should also be around 32 but he is younger than Prithvi and Prithvi was a baby when Mrinal's parents were murdered so Sindhu let's assume is a year younger than Prithvi

But Prithvi is at least 6- 7 younger than Mrinal so Sindhu has to be at least 8 years younger than Mrinal right

If Mrinal is 36 then PV should be around 30 and Sindhu 29 which means he married when he was 13 😆

I am myself confused now 😆

Clearly makers haven't calculated this age stuff 😆

I personally think than these characters are older in age but the actors portraying them are young and hence the confusion😆

@bold: Singhdant did tell his wife that his life changed after massacring Mrinal's family when he found the orphan boy in the jungle...referring to Prithvi
but did he actually mention that he found an infant Prithvi or just a child Prithvi?!😕

It was Jungle Devi actually who had found Prithvi first.

So isn't it possible that she raised Prithvi for a couple of years??
and then Singhdant found Prithvi when he was still a kid but not a baby anymore...

I am not adding to the list of cultural practices that is already explained by many. But I want to add Mirabhai in the long list. She loved Krishna, a widow in those times, when Jauhar, Sati was practiced among Rajputs Mira didnt do that and she wrote poetries and it is said she reached Vrindavan and saw Krishna before her death. She was a woman who defied the social norms when she wrote
"mJaake mukut mor pankh mero pati wohi" when she was married to a king and later a widow in her poetry she wrote about her love for Krishna and Krishna alone. Married to one and talking about another man. But she is regarded as a saint and her poetries are revered.

It is the invasion by Muslim rulers and then the missionaries coming to India along with British brought in the so called Morality scale in our culture. Otherwise Sanathana Dharma was all about individual choices and respecting the nature as well as humanity.

To be honest, No Historical show till now truly followed the norms of the era they depicted. t's all about modernity. 😆
I agree that unmarried men and unmarried women didn't meet each other that freely, but yes, if they were friends, I really doubt they can't. Prithvi and Amrusha were of course friends. Thus, they can meet. Now don't say that a man and woman can't befriend each other. In Mahabharat times itself, Krishna and Draupadi were Sakha - Sakhi. So were Arjuna and Satyabhama. Coming to being married off early, not everyone in that era did that. There was a Telugu poet called Molla. She was from a low caste but was rebellious and questioned the knowledge of royal pundits themselves. She denied marriage, and called herself as Rama's patni. She was mentally married to Rama. She wrote Molla Ramayanam in three days, as challenged by the king, astonishing everyone. There were many such people. Being a low caste woman, Molla has done it. Mrinalvati is a princess, so who would oppose her decision? Prithvi and Mrinalvati did not want to marry (as per this show), thus they didn't. There were no such restrictions. To get married, Prince and Princess' opinions were asked. Overall, my only complaint about the show is, I want to feel the historical aura. I want tilaks on men's forehead, a bindi on Mrinalvati's, and tied hair for Jakkala (as a married woman). This makes me feel the essence more stronger, but still, I don't have any problem with watching it as it is now. 😊
