Chapter 16
The evening despite events of the day was highly productive.. They laughed lots, worked too; their lines having been emailed to them, so they were still able to prepare for the following day's shoot. He even cooked for her - a very impressive bowl of instant noodles with his trademark egg thrown in
"What??" He had rebuked her when She laughed uncontrollably and applauded his exemplary culinary skills
"It's quick, low fat, a good source of protein and tastes great - what more d'you want fatty?"
"Impressive!! that's why you haven't extended your repertoire to beyond one dish!"
Despite the hilarity they both ate with gusto, glad for the replenishment after what felt like an extraordinarily long day even though it was just past ten. She then made a couple of calls to the studio to tell them not to send the car in the morning and to her parents so they could rest assured She was OK
"So tell me," She yelled out to him as He cleared their dishes
"What's the plan for next week? How do you propose both you and me can get away at the same time without the directors going ballistic?"
He came back in, a smug expression on his face, as He sat next to her on te floor whilst She was stretched out on his couch.
"We leave after pack up on Friday and are back for shoot late Sunday - I mean what's the big deal? During the week we bust our asses and do as much as we can - simple! Look, you're not going to be away for the event rehearsals so we can make up time. The big event is on Saturday so we can easily slip away - no one will be around early Sunday that's for sure so we should be able to pull it off no problem"
"Two nights away?" Her eyes widened with shock
"Two nights away! Where are we going - you've got to tell me for God's sake - give me a clue?"
"All I'll say is we'll have a lot of fun and a lot of time to pay me back for all this niceness I'm showering on you.As you know,"
He brought His face close to hers
"I always get my way.."
As She looked into his eyes She actually felt herself flush at the clear desire in his eyes, the slight smile playing on His lips left Her speechless for a few seconds, until She broke their gaze and laughed a little self consciously.
"I guess I'll just have to trust you on this one - and that's easy enough.. We just need to be really careful - after all that's happened recently, the less people know the better. I'll just say Im attending a close friend's engagement - I can easily talk my way through that."
"No one's really going to ask me - I'll handle my side"
"Another thing - can we please not mention that I'm staying here? I need to find another place and until then I just need a few days tops but I'd rather we kept it to ourselves."
He nodded his agreement, "Understood ma'am. Anything else?" He bowed down to her
She threw a cushion at him and they laughed until She caught sight of the time.
"Good grief! Is that the time? Yaar subhe jaana bhi hai shoot par - I'm ready to crash out here on the sofa. Where d'you put my bag?"
"Your bag is where you'll be sleeping - c'mon I'll show you" and before She knew it He had already swept Her up in His arms
He took her to His bedroom, despite her protestations that She would be fine on the sofa.
He had already placed a pillow at the foot of the bed to elevate her leg and placed her gently down.
"There you go! Now if you need help undressing, I could be of great help to you!"
"Just pass me my bag Romeo - youve done enough!"
"I'm just going to get a few things for myself then you can carry on." He said as he opened his wardrobe to remove his clothes and toiletries.
"Listen, " She began "your bed is huge and its not as if I'm going to move that much. Why don't you just sleep here too?"
"Are propositioning me?, "His eyes were narrowed but She laughed easily
"If you can call it a proposition from a girl with a dud leg - then fine!"
"Your leg isn't what I'm interested in, but OK - if you're sure I can trust you. I've heard all the stories about girls like you with so called bad legs - its all a front to trap innocent young men like me"
"Oh man! Am I so obvious! Damn! Well if you're done with the wishful thinking, I'm first for the bathroom."
She didn't bother bringing pyjamas thinking it would be awkward to slip on, so just bought a long nightshirt to wear. She hobbled out of the bathroom and into the bedroom and found herself alone.
As She sat on the bed, She managed to get the majority of her body in and left her injured leg out to go on top of the pillow at the foot of the bed. She wasn't managing to well and in straightening herself in bed, managed to rip a button off her shirt. With one missing already, the shirt now exposed a little more of her front than She would have liked.
Seizing the opportunity while She was alone, She covered around herself with the duvet and sat and waited for him to come out of the bathroom, whose door had just clicked.
Although She herself had offered it, She wondered whether she had been a bit foolish to share the bed with him. Of course She trusted him but would have preferred not feeling so needy or disadvantaged.. All of a sudden She felt quite self conscious and a bit of an idiot. She tried again unsuccessfully to place her leg on the pillow but to no avail.
In no time at all, the door clicked again and He was out, wearing a pair of joggers and a t-shirt.
His hair was wet and he was rubbing his scalp dry as he walked in the bedroom, his fragrance trailing behind him. Without meaning to, She quietly inhaled his aroma, drawing it deep inside her head. She absolutely loved the smell of Him.
"OK madam - need anything before I turn in?"
"Can you help me position myself better, it's a little awkward" She wriggled under the duvet
"I'll try a position that's more comfortable for you, " His play on the words made her laugh and feel embarrassed all at the same time, as She hit him.
He came round to her side and gently lifted her leg with both hands, one on the back of her calf, one just behind her thigh, before placing it down in the middle of the pillow. She tingled at the touch of his hands on her bare skin and wished She would stop feeling so nervous all of a sudden.
|"Thank you", She said in a dry voice
" for really looking after me and being such a fantastic support" He was sitting on the edge of the bed and they were facing each other
"It's easily done when it comes to you. But like I said, thanks alone wont suffice - I expect to be rewarded"
He looked at her meaningfully, His eyes dark shining pools, as He reached across to kiss her softly on her cheek, His lips lingering
"Goodnight fatty," He murmured "Sweet dreams"
She turned slightly so now their lips were close together and She reached out to touch his with her fingers, gently tracing their full beautiful outline
"Consider this my first down-payment," as She kissed him gently, Her own lips warm against His, kissing Him deeply now, gently exploring His mouth with her tongue, losing her resolve and her reservations in one fell swoop.
He broke off suddenly, making Her start. She looked at him with confused eyes, only to see the same turmoil in his. In that fleeting moment She could see He was fighting with himself too, wanting to be with her and wanting to do the right thing all at the same time. In that moment her respect, regard and love for Him increased.
Feeling suddenly empowered to make her own destiny, She placed the palm of Her hand gently against His cheek
"Stay...please..." She whispered before kissing him again, wrapping Her arms around him, drawing him closer...
"I promise I'll not seduce you," she whispered in between kissing again on his neck this time, His beard rough against her chin, her hands buried in His beautiful thick hair
"I promise I'll behave like a good little one legged girl, honest"
He brought her face up to meet his, those brooding dark eyes looking like pots of melted chocolate, his dilated pupils belying the passion He felt was as strong as Hers
"I'll stay, if you want me to, but only to keep an eye on you - your first payment is being cleared. If it bounces," He kissed her gently
"I'll have to re-present"
She smiled as he got up, came round the bed and got in next to her. As She turned to him, the duvet slipped a little giving him a glimpse of her missing buttons and her creamy flesh underneath
"Goodnight Fatty" He said as he drew the duvet more closely over her and closed His eyes
