Ganga is not the witch, she is an innocent victim of Patriarchy. The real culprits are Ganga's parents and Sajjan Singh.
Yes she is being dumb in marrying Sajjan but she doesn't know any better. She comes from an extreame poverty, probably not much educated, she is a child in a teen's body.
Coming from extreame poverty, she is happy being in a palace like home, getting sweets and good food, jewellery and nice clothes, and care from Sajjan. For her this is enough. She doesn't know the meaning of marriage. Coming from such a remote place, she probably haven't seen any films, doesn't know what is physical intimacy or love. The only adult thing she knows how to do is probably household chores.
Ganga is a kid in teen's body. Sajjan Singh wants to marry a teen girl who is mentally a child. So in a way he wants to marry a child.
Ganga is not in an age to make decisions for herself. It is upto her guardians' to make decisions for her. But too bad, when her own parents have sold her, what do you expect? Pratigya's should put Ganga's father in jail first for that crime. I wonder why didn't Pratigya took any step before when she came to know that Ganga has been sold.
For centuries women have suffered all over the world like this. They were married off when they were just children or in their teens.
Even though its not right and not legal, It is still better if teens girls married teen boys. My grandmother got married at the age of 16 but atleast she married a 16 year old boy. Thus my grandparents began their married life at same age and had a healthy and happy married life. They grew up together as friends and were happy with each other.
But marrying an older man, for whom teen girls are not a life partner but just a sex toy, that is simply disgusting. That is not a marriage, it is a rape and a major crime. Ganga is a victim, who should be rescued from all this.
